7TH TRAIT: YOU ARE NOT UNGRATEFUL

- you are not allowed to be ungrateful

Verily, spendthrifts are brothers of the Shayatin (devils), and the Shaitan (Devil) is ever ungrateful to his Lord. (Al-Isra 17:27)

- the kuffaar use you and dump you
- they do not acknowledge Allah as their Lord

SHAIKH IN THE PLANE
- the plane hit an air pocket and it felt like the plane was going to crash
- the Christians who were there, on the plane all said: “Lord Jesus”
- if these were their last words, they’ll be in hell forever
- however the Muslims said subhanAllah
- the Christians gave their lordship to Jesus, this is ungratefulness
- Allah gave your life and you are ungrateful
- the Aqeedah of Shaytaan is better than the Christians

[Iblis (Satan)] said: "O my Lord! Give me then respite till the Day they (the dead) will be resurrected." (Al-Hijr 15:36)

- even the Shaytaan acknowledges that Allah is his One and only Lord
- yet a Christians don’t know who is his Lord
- the Aqeedah of Iblis is better than that of the Christian
- on Judgment Day he will make a mockery at all those who followed him

And Shaitan (Satan) will say when the matter has been decided: "Verily, Allah promised you a promise of truth. And I too promised you, but I betrayed you. I had no authority over you except that I called you, so you responded to me. So blame me not, but blame yourselves. I cannot help you, nor can you help me. I deny your former act in associating me (Satan) as a partner with Allah (by obeying me in the life of the world). Verily, there is a painful torment for the Zalimûn (polytheists and wrong-doers, etc.)." (Ibrahim 14:22)

- he will say the promise of Allah was true and mine was fake, why did you listen to me and not Allah?
- in order to be a proper Muslim you have to be grateful
- when the Rasool (ﷺ) was shown hellfire
- it was shown majority of women because they were ungrateful and the rich men

Narrated By Ibn 'Abbas: The Prophet (ﷺ) said: "I was shown the Hell-fire and that the majority of its dwellers were women who were ungrateful." It was asked, "Do they disbelieve in Allah?" (or are they ungrateful to Allah?) He replied, "They are ungrateful to their husbands and are ungrateful for the favours and the good (charitable deeds) done to them. If you have always been good (benevolent) to one of them and then she sees something in you (not of her liking), she will say, 'I have never received any good from you." [Sahih Bukhari, Vol 1, Book 2, Hadith #028]

- it is not cool to be ungrateful
- don’t be ungrateful to your wife or husband or your Muslim brothers and sisters

By the (steeds) that run, with panting (breath), (1) Striking sparks of fire (by their hooves), (2) And scouring to the raid at dawn (3) And raise the dust in clouds the while, (4) Penetrating forthwith as one into the midst (of the foe); (5) Verily! Man (disbeliever) is ungrateful to his Lord; (6) And to that fact he bears witness (by his deeds); (7) And verily, he is violent in the love of wealth.(8) (Al-'Adiyat 100:1-8)

- Allah gave you everything you want, but did you thank him?
- NO you wrote a book instead claiming that God is nothing but a myth
- this is because Europe is mainly pagan and atheist, the book was a bestselling book

- because on judgment day you will have to answer for the blessings you had
- food, drink and sex, all the pleasures of the flesh etc

Then, on that Day, you shall be asked about the delight[] (you indulged in, in this world)! (At-Takathur 102:8)

Abu Huraira reported that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) went out (of his house) one day or one night, and there he found Abu Bakr and 'Umar also. He said: What has brought you out of your houses at this hour? They said: Allah's Messenger, it is hunger. Thereupon he said: By Him in Whose Hand is my life, what has brought you out has brought me out too; get up. They got up along with him and (all of them) came to the house of an Ansari, but he was not at home. When his wife saw him she said: Most welcome, and Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said to her: Where is so and so? She said: He has gone to get some fresh water for us. When the Ansari came and he saw Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) and his two Companions, he said: Praise be to Allah, no one has more honourable guests today than I (have). He then went out and brought them a bunch of ripe dates, dry dates and fresh dates, and said: Eat some of them. He then took hold of his long knife (for slaughtering a goat or a sheep). Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said to him: Beware of killing a milch animal. He slaughtered a sheep for them and after they had eaten of it and of the bunch and drank, and when they had taken their fill and had been fully satisfied with the drink, Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said to Abu Bakr and Umar: By Him in Whose Hand is my life, you will certainly be questioned about this bounty on the Day of judgment. Hunger brought you out of your house, then you did not return until this bounty came to you. [Sahih Muslim, Book 23, Hadith #5055]

- You are not allowed to misappropriate the blessings of Allah
- man likes to go and brag

He says (boastfully): "I have wasted wealth in abundance!" (6) Thinks he that none sees him?(7) (Al-Balad 90:6-7)

- he likes to brag about, how many women he slept with and how much money he gambled
- this is not something to brag about
- rather put your head down in shame, this is something you will account for on the Day of Judgment
- are you going to be like Saleh Fawzan?
- saying the greatest jihad is to kill the Mujahideen?

- because there is a hadith about Yemen, where 12,000 men will rise

It has been narrated to us from Abdullah that Abi Thana Abd ar-Razaq narrated from al-Munther bin Nu'man al-Aftas that he said: "I heard Wahb narrating that Ibn Abbas said, the Prophet (ﷺ) said: 'An army of twelve-thousand will come out of Aden-Abyan. They will give victory to Allah and His messenger; they are the best between myself and them'."

“Out of Aden-Abyan will come 12,000, giving victory to the (religion of) Allah and His Messenger. They are the best between me and them.” (Ahmad: 2918, 2079 and At-Tabrani in Al-Kabir: 11029 (11/56).

- if you are 12,000 strong with right Aqeedah, no one can defeat you
- that fatwa of Fawzaan is not feesabillilah (for the sake of Allah)
- but feesabilli pay check (for the sake of the pay check)

Ibn Abbas (RA) reported that Allah’s Messenger said, “The best number of sahabah is four, the best number of men in expedition is four hundred, the best number of men in armies is four thousand, and twelve thousand will not be defeated because of poor numbers.” [Tirmidhi 1561, Ahmed 2682, Abu Dawud 2611]

- that’s why Fawzaan quickly passed this fatwah, Fawzaan is a MADkhali and passed this dodgy fatwa
- because the Mujahideen said they are coming on the house of Saud next
- the kuffaar killing Anwar Al Awlaki wasn’t a benefit for the Taghoot
- because the brother in law of Awlaki is the leader of AQAP, so how did this benefit you?
- some Muslims worship personalities, once they hear a Sheikh they start to worship him

The Story of Isma’el’s Marriage
- when Ibrahim (AS) came to the door of Isma'el

- then Ibrahim came again and then Isma'el’s new wife came and opened the door

…After Ishmael's mother had died, Abraham came after Ishmael's marriage in order to see his family that he had left before, but he did not find Ishmael there. When he asked Ishmael's wife about him, she replied, 'He has gone in search of our livelihood.' Then he asked her about their way of living and their condition, and she replied, 'We are living in misery; we are living in hardship and destitution,' complaining to him. He said, 'When your husband returns, convey my salutation to him and tell him to change the threshold of the gate (of his house).' When Ishmael came, he seemed to have felt something unusual, so he asked his wife, 'Has anyone visited you?' She replied, 'Yes, an old man of so-and-so description came and asked me about you and I informed him, and he asked about our state of living, and I told him that we were living in a hardship and poverty.' On that Ishmael said, 'Did he advise you anything?' She replied, 'Yes, he told me to convey his salutation to you and to tell you to change the threshold of your gate.' Ishmael said, 'It was my father, and he has ordered me to divorce you. Go back to your family.' So, Ishmael divorced her and married another woman from amongst them (i.e. Jurhum).

Then Abraham stayed away from them for a period as long as Allah wished and called on them again but did not find Ishmael. So he came to Ishmael's wife and asked her about Ishmael. She said, 'He has gone in search of our livelihood.' Abraham asked her, 'How are you getting on?' asking her about their sustenance and living. She replied, 'We are prosperous and well-off (i.e. we have everything in abundance).' Then she thanked Allah' Abraham said, 'What kind of food do you eat?' She said. 'Meat.' He said, 'What do you drink?' She said, 'Water." He said, "O Allah! Bless their meat and water." The Prophet added, "At that time they did not have grain, and if they had grain, he would have also invoked Allah to bless it." The Prophet added, "If somebody has only these two things as his sustenance, his health and disposition will be badly affected, unless he lives in Mecca." The Prophet added," Then Abraham said Ishmael's wife, "When your husband comes, give my regards to him and tell him that he should keep firm the threshold of his gate.' When Ishmael came back, he asked his wife, 'Did anyone call on you?' She replied, 'Yes, a good-looking old man came to me,' so she praised him and added. 'He asked about you, and I informed him, and he asked about our livelihood and I told him that we were in a good condition.' Ishmael asked her, 'Did he give you any piece of advice?' She said, 'Yes, he told me to give his regards to you and ordered that you should keep firm the threshold of your gate.' On that Ishmael said, 'It was my father, and you are the threshold (of the gate). He has ordered me to keep you with me.'… [Sahih Bukhari, Vol 4, Book 55, Hadith #583]

- the reason why sheikh quoted this is because the first wife was ungrateful
- she didn’t even mention Allah, the second wife said Alhamdulillah

- the majority of the followers of dajjaal will be Jews and women
- a man will have to tie his wife and his daughters physically because they will want to follow the dajjaal
- some women do not want to make hijrah from this dajjaal society of America and Europe
- because all they care about is their bellies
- these women are like the wife of prophet Lut

O you who believe! If you help (in the cause of) Allah, He will help you, and make your foothold firm. (Muhammad 47:7)

8TH TRAIT: BEING HELPFUL

- if you help Allah, Allah will help you, helping Allah means, helping the cause of Allah
- you help the servants of Allah and its causes, if you help the servants of Allah, it is as if you helped Allah

Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: Verily, Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, would say on the Day of Resurrection: O son of Adam, I was sick but you did not visit Me. He would say: O my Lord; how could I visit Thee whereas Thou art the Lord of the worlds? Thereupon He would say: Didn't you know that such and such servant of Mine was sick but you did not visit him and were you not aware of this that if you had visited him, you would have found Me by him? O son of Adam, I asked food from you but you did not feed Me. He would say: My Lord, how could I feed Thee whereas Thou art the Lord of the worlds? He said: Didn't you know that such and such servant of Mine asked food from you but you did not feed him, and were you not aware that if you had fed him you would have found him by My side? (The Lord would again say) O son of Adam, I asked drink from you but you did not provide Me. He would say: My Lord, how could I provide Thee whereas Thou art the Lord of the worlds? Thereupon He would say: Such and such of servant of Mine asked you for a drink but you did not provide him, and had you provided him drink you would have found him near Me. [Sahih Muslim, Book 32, Hadith #6232]

"...And Allah goes on helping the slave as long as the slave helps his brother." [Tirmidhi 1430, Muslim 2699, Abu Dawud 4946, Ahmed 7431]

- in order for you to be a good Muslim and have a good character
- you have to be helpful to your Muslim brothers and sisters

Narrated by An-Nu'man bin Bashir: The Prophet (ﷺ) said: “The likeness of the believers in their mutual love, mercy and compassion is that of one body; when one part of it suffers, the rest of the body joins it in staying awake and suffering fever.” [al-Bukhaari (6011) and Muslim (2586)]

9TH TRAIT: BRAVERY

- you are not allowed to have wahn in your heart
- wahn is to have love for dunya and hatred for death

The Prophet (ﷺ) said: “All the people of the world will soon summon one another to attack you as people gather around a table when invited to part take of its meal” Someone asked, ‘will that be because of our small numbers at that time?’ He( the Prophet) replied: “No, you will be numerous at that time but you will be scum and rubbish like that carried down by a torrent, and Allah will take fear from the breast of your enemies and cast “wahn” into your hearts”. Someone asked ‘What is “wahn” O Messenger of Allah?’ He replied “Love for the world and dislike of death”. (Sunnan Abu Dawud English trans. Vol. 3 pg.1196 No.4284)

- people who have wahn in their hearts, are the people who don’t do Jihaad
- and give conditions for not doing Jihaad, for example you need a caliph for Jihaad
- Sheikh Bin Baaz said in 1980’s that Jihaad was Fardul Ayn, there was no caliph then
- in 1980’s Bin Baaz passed the fatwa

Truly Allah has given you victory on many battle fields, and on the Day of Hunain (battle) when you rejoiced at your great number but it availed you naught and the earth, vast as it is, was straitened for you, then you turned back in flight. (At-Tawbah 9:25)

- he the prophet (ﷺ) didn’t say to them, you have to learn and become a scholar then fight
- that’s why you should study Seerah, people have a dodgy Aqeedah because they don’t study Seerah

Narrated By Ibn Abbas: When the Prophet sent Muadh to Yemen, he said to him, "You are going to a nation from the people of the Scripture, so let the first thing to which you will invite them, be the Tauhid of Allah. If they learn that, tell them that Allah has enjoined on them, five prayers to be offered in one day and one night. And if they pray, tell them that Allah has enjoined on them Zakat of their properties and it is to be taken from the rich among them and given to the poor. And if they agree to that, then take from them Zakat but avoid the best property of the people." [Sahih Bukhari, Vol 9, Book 93, Hadith #469]

- that’s why they don’t know that in Makkah the prophet (ﷺ) called to Tawheed

- if you do not want to eradicate the isms and schisms of the Taghoot
- then that means you agree with them

And fight them until there is no more Fitnah (disbelief and polytheism: i.e. worshipping others besides Allah) and the religion (worship) will all be for Allah Alone [in the whole of the world[]]. But if they cease (worshipping others besides Allah), then certainly, Allah is All-Seer of what they do. (Al-Anfal 8:39)

- the fitna in the ayah refers to shirk, this ayah abrogates the verse in Surah Kaafiroon

"To you be your religion, and to me my religion (Islamic Monotheism)." (Al-Kafirun 109:6)

- the official verse of the sword is; Tawbah verse 5

Then when the Sacred Months (the Ist, 7th, 11th, and 12th months of the Islamic calendar) have passed, then kill the Mushrikûn (see V.2:105) wherever you find them, and capture them and besiege them, and prepare for them each and every ambush. But if they repent and perform As-Salat (Iqamat-as- Salat), and give Zakat, then leave their way free. Verily, Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. (At-Tawbah 9:5)

- you have become cowards and don’t want to do Jihaad
- well you don’t have to ask for it, they bring it to your doorsteps
- like they did, in Chechnya, Afghanistan and Iraq

- the Russians blew up a hotel and blamed it on Muslims, so that they can go in Chechnya
- to kill Muslims and steal their resources

Abu ‘Eesa al-Tirmidhi said: this hadeeth is hasan]

- now look at what happened to the man who ordered the killing
- the Russians don’t want him, this is the white revolution
- why is it that people are rebelling around him because you plot and Allah plans

And they (disbelievers) plotted [to kill 'Iesa (Jesus)], and Allah planned too. And Allah is the Best of the planners. (Aali Imran 3:54)

- when a person knows that you need him, he become a Fitnaa for you
- that’s why women are Fitnaa for men

“I have not left behind me any fitnah (temptation) more harmful to men than women.” [Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 5096; Muslim, 2740]

- Fitnaa means trial, tribulations
- if you do not want to do Jihaad, the kuffaar will bring it to your doorstep

- rafidites - are Shi’ites, you can’t take them as advisors, they give crazy advice

Allah says

O you who believe! Take not as (your) Bitanah (advisors, consultants, protectors, helpers, friends, etc.) those outside your religion (pagans, Jews, Christians, and hypocrites) since they will not fail to do their best to corrupt you. They desire to harm you severely. Hatred has already appeared from their mouths, but what their breasts conceal is far worse. Indeed We have made plain to you the Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses) if you understand. (Aali Imran 3:118)

- this is proof that you can’t take people outside of your religion as advisors

10TH TRAIT: SHYNESS

- this is a branch if eeman, as stated in a hadith

It was narrated from ‘Abd-Allaah ibn ‘Umar that the Messenger of Allaah (SAW) passed by an Ansaari man who was exhorting his brother to be modest. The Messenger of Allaah (SAW) said: “Let him be, for modesty is part of faith.” [al-Bukhaari (24) and Muslim (36)]

It is narrated on the authority of Abu Huraira that the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: "Faith has over seventy branches or over sixty branches, the most excellent of which is the declaration that there is no god but Allah, and the humblest of which is the, removal of what is injurious from the path: and modesty is the branch of faith." [al-Bukhari (8) and Muslim (56)]

- men and men are not allowed to shower in front of each other
- there is no morals like the Islamic morals, shyness is a part of our culture

Narrated By Mu'awiyah ibn Haydah: I said: Apostle of Allah, from whom should we conceal our private parts and to whom can we show? He replied: conceal your private parts except from your wife and from whom your right hands possess (slave-girls)... [Abu Dawud 4006, Tirmidhi 2803, Ahmed 20054]

-the Prophet (ﷺ) was shy like a virgin

Abu Sa'id Khudri reported that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) was more modest than the virgin behind the curtain (or in the apartment), and when he disliked anything, we recognised that from his face. [al-Bukhari (6102) and Muslim (5739)]

-if you feel no shame, do as you wish

Narrated By Abu Mas'ud: The Prophet said, 'One of the sayings of the early Prophets which the people have got is: If you don't feel ashamed do whatever you like." (See Hadith No 690, 691, Vol 4) [Sahih Bukhari, Vol 8, Book 73, Hadith #141]

- why don’t you take on a girlfriend, do drugs, go to casinos, if you feel no shame?
- a Muslim is supposed to feel ashamed of certain things
- for you to feel ashamed of evil deeds, it is a branch of eemaan

“…and modesty is the branch of faith." [al-Bukhari (8) and Muslim (56)]

- if you brag about your sins, of your haraam, you have no eemaan
- if you do haraam in secret and didn’t tell anybody, this is better for you
- but if you brag about it, you are inviting to it
- to be a sincere Muslim, you need be feel ashamed, you have to be shy

Narrated By Abu Huraira: I heard Allah's Apostle saying. "All the sins of my followers will be forgiven except those of the Mujahirin (those who commit a sin openly or disclose their sins to the people). An example of such disclosure is that a person commits a sin at night and though Allah screens it from the public, then he comes in the morning, and says, 'O so-and-so, I did such-and-such (evil) deed yesterday,' though he spent his night screened by his Lord (none knowing about his sin) and in the morning he removes Allah's screen from himself." [Sahih Bukhari, Vol 8, Book 73, Hadith #095]

- so a Muslim doesn't do haraam and talk about it because a Muslim has a sense of shame
- but the kaafir brags about things
- such as the money they wasted in Las Vegas or how many prostitutes he slept with etc
- the kaafir likes to announce it to the people
- see 19:6

He says (boastfully): "I have wasted wealth in abundance!" (Al-Balad 90:6)

- many of you think "I did haraam, I am evil", this is how the Khawaarij think
- if you do haraam it doesn’t mean you are evil

Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger having said: By Him in Whose Hand is my life, if you were not to commit sin, Allah would sweep you out of existence and He would replace (you by) those people who would commit sin and seek forgiveness from Allah, and He would have pardoned them. (Sahih Muslim, Book 037, Number 6622)

- by your seeking Allah’s forgiveness, Allah is practicing His names and attributes
- if a Muslim should do a sin and it bothers him,
- it’s like a man who is sitting in a cave and he thinks it will fall on him

Narrated By 'Abdullah bin Mas'ud the Prophet (ﷺ) saying: "A believer sees his sins as if he were sitting under a mountain which, he is afraid, may fall on him; whereas the wicked person considers his sins as flies passing over his nose and he just drives them away like this." Abu Shihab (the sub-narrator) moved his hand over his nose in illustration. [Sahih Bukhari, Vol 8, Book 75, Hadith #320]

- if you are saying your sin is halaal, then you are evil and have now become a kaafir
- a woman should be shy and is not allowed to raise her voice
- a good woman doesn’t speak with a soft and dainty voice, she speaks with dignity and respect
- so that men with diseases in their hearts won’t molest her
- see 31:19 Allah says

He brings out the living from the dead, and brings out the dead from the living. And He revives the earth after its death. And thus shall you be brought out (resurrected). (Ar-Rum 30:19)

- Allah created the voice of the donkey and despises the voice of the donkey
- A good woman speaks with a soft voice and not a loud, these women are seeking attention
- no woman is allowed to leave the house without Hijab and Jilbab
- Allah curses the one who wears a belt, you can wear it under the Jilbab (the belt)
- A woman isn’t allowed to dress in skimpy clothes
- your Jilbab can’t have elastic on your hips
- the Jilbab has to reach your ankle
- and your jilbab can’t be see-through
- it cannot be loud colors (i.e. pink, red etc), it should be dark
- these are not proper Jilbab colors (bright) red , pink , orange are not proper Jilbab colours

- the kuffaar knows that the Muslims are shy, so they like to strip them naked
- the story of prophet Ibrahim and Nimrod (dumped him in the fire, stripped him naked)
- we are the only civilized people in the world, everyone else is uncivilized

"What the Muslims see as good is good in the sight of Allah and what they see as bad is bad in the sight of Allah." [Ahmad]

-if the kuffaar were civilized, why do they have a racist society? Why do they urinate on the dead?

11TH TRAIT: AVOID ASKING INQUISITIVE QUESTIONS

On the authority of Abu Hurairah, who said: The Messenger of Allah said “A sign of one’s excellence in his Islam, is ignoring what does not concern him.” [Tirmidhi 2318, Ibn e Majah 3976, Ahmed 1737, Al-Muwatta 1604]

- the Muslim culture nowadays is very inquisitive
- in some cultures like the Arab, Asian culture, they watch, peep, gossip and slander
- the white woman won’t care less about what the people will say
- so the Asian woman will remain widowed because if she re-marries at age 50 years old
- people will gossip, she will remain single even if she has needs
- some Muslims will even ask what your salary is and even about the virginity of their wives
- some people are so inquisitive that some men are forced
- to show the white sheet with the blood to show them that she is a virgin
- the Rasul (ﷺ) never did this, this is unislamic
- it is haraam to ask such questions that will harm you if the answer is given

O you who believe! Ask not about things which, if made plain to you, may cause you trouble. But if you ask about them while the Qur'an is being revealed, they will be made plain to you. Allah has forgiven that, and Allah is Oft Forgiving, Most Forbearing. (Al-Ma'idah 5:101)

- it is haram to expose the virginity of your wife, if you don’t find her to be a virgin

Abu Huraira reported Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) as saying: The servant (who conceals) the faults of others in this world, Allah would conceal his faults on the Day of Resurrection. [Sahih Muslim, Book 32, Hadith #6267]

12TH TRAIT: YOU NEED SABR

- sabr means the thing is haraam and you love it, but yet still you stay away from it

Narrated by Abu Qatadah and Abu Ad-Dahma' who said: We came to a man from the people of the desert and asked him: Did you hear a Hadith from the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ)? He said: I heard him saying: "Whosoever leaves something for the sake of Allah, then Allah the Mighty and Magnificent, will replace it with something better than it." [Musnad Ahmad, Vol. 5, pg.363, No. 23124]

- it also means the thing is fard but difficult, yet you still do it for the sake of Allah e.g. Jihad
- the story of Yusuf (AS) and his brothers is a very important story about sabr
- also the story of Ibrahim
- Yusuf was given Tamkeen in the land, see 2:153

O you who believe! Seek help in patience and As-Salat (the prayer). Truly! Allah is with As-Sabirin (the patient ones, etc.). (Al-Baqarah 2:153)

- Allah is with the patient

And seek help in patience and As-Salat (the prayer) and truly it is extremely heavy and hard except for Al-Khashi'ûn [i.e. the true believers in Allah - those who obey Allah with full submission, fear much from His Punishment, and believe in His Promise (Paradise, etc.) and in His Warnings (Hell, etc.)]. (Al-Baqarah 2:45)

By Al-'Asr (the time). (1) Verily! Man is in loss, (2) Except those who believe (in Islamic Monotheism) and do righteous good deeds, and recommend one another to the truth (i.e. order one another to perform all kinds of good deeds (Al-Ma'rûf)which Allah has ordained, and abstain from all kinds of sins and evil deeds (Al-Munkar)which Allah has forbidden), and recommend one another to patience (for the sufferings, harms, and injuries which one may encounter in Allah's Cause during preaching His religion of Islamic Monotheism or Jihad, etc.).(3) (Al-'Asr 103:1-3)

- Imam Shaafi said the Surah Wal Asr would have been sufficient
- if it was the only Surah revealed for guidance
- people without sabr are yoyo Muslims, they keep on going backward and forward in Islam
- Allah spoke about them in 22:11

And among mankind is he who worships Allah as it were, upon the very edge (i.e. in doubt); if good befalls him, he is content therewith; but if a trial befalls him, he turns back on his face (i.e. reverts back to disbelief after embracing Islam). He loses both this world and the Hereafter. That is the evident loss. (Al-Hajj 22:11)

- on the Day of Judgment Allah will be giving and taking back the light in sirat
- just like how you treated the deen

13TH TRAIT: DO NOT BE PROUD

- pride is when you reject the truth and look down on others

It Is narrated on the authority of Abdullah b. Mas'ud that the Apostle of Allah (SAW), observed: He who has in his heart the weight of a mustard seed of pride shall not enter Paradise. A person (amongst his hearers) said: Verily a person loves that his dress should be fine, and his shoes should be fine. He (the Holy Prophet) remarked: Verily, Allah is Graceful and He loves Grace. Pride is disdaining the truth (out of self-conceit) and contempt for the people. [Sahih Muslim, Book 1, Hadith #0164]

- wearing beautiful clothes is not pride
- Nimrad, the pharaoh, Abu Jahl and Abu Lahab rejected the truth because of pride
- the Jews are proud

And indeed, We gave Mûsa (Moses) the Book and followed him up with a succession of Messengers. And We gave 'Iesa (Jesus), the son of Maryam (Mary), clear signs and supported him with Rûh-ul-Qudus [Jibrael (Gabriel)]. Is it that whenever there came to you a Messenger with what you yourselves desired not, you grew arrogant? Some, you disbelieved and some, you killed. (Al-Baqarah 2:87)

- the Jews knew that Muhammad (SAW) was a prophet, but they rejected him because he was an Arab

Those to whom We gave the Scripture (Jews and Christians) recognise him (Muhammad or the Ka'bah at Makkah) as they recongise their sons. But verily, a party of them conceal the truth while they know it - [i.e. the qualities of Muhammad which are written in the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)]. (Al-Baqarah 2:146)

- they chose hellfire over accepting Islam because of pride
- if you have pride in your heart you are following Iblees
- you are allowed to be proud as a Muslim

Abu Hurayra reported that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), said, "There are three people that Allah will not speak to on the Day of Rising nor purify nor look at and they will have a painful punishment: an old adulterer, a lying ruler and a poor person who is arrogant." [Sahih Muslim, Book 1, Hadith #0195]

- if a prince is proud that can be understood, but how a poor man be proud?

14TH TRAIT: BE JEALOUS OVER YOUR WIFE, DAUGHTER

Narrated By Abu Huraira: The Prophet; (ﷺ) said, “Indeed, Allah has Ghayrah, and the faithful believer has Ghayrah, and the Ghayrah which Allah has is provoked when a believer commits that which Allah has forbidden.” [al-Bukhari (4925) and Muslim (2761)]

Ibn Al-Qayyim, Rahimahullaah, said: “And the Dayyouth is the most vile of Allah’s creation, and Jannah is forbidden for him, (because of his lack of Ghayrah - jealousy). The foundation of the Religion is Ghayrah, and the one without Ghayrah is one without Religion, for Ghayrah protects the heart and enlivens the limbs, and shields one from evil and lewdness, and lack of Ghayrah kills the heart so that the limbs die, so that there remains not even shielding from [the minor things]. And the example of Ghayrah in the heart is the example of the strength that shields one from sickness and fights it off, so if the strength leaves, he will be faced with the sickness, and will not find anything to protect himself from it, so it will establish itself [within him] and destroy him.” [Ad-Daa’ Wad-Dawaa’, p.77]

- do not permit your daughter to have a boyfriend, else you will not enter paradise
- you are only supposed to be jealous of your wife, but also all the females of your family

AI-Mughira b. Shu'ba (RA) reported that Sa'd b. 'Ubada (RA) said: If I were to see a man with my wife, I would have struck him with the sword, and not with the flat part (side) of it. When Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) heard of that, he said: Are you surprised at Sa'd's jealousy of his honour? By Allah, I am more jealous of my honour than he, and Allah is more jealous than I. Because of His jealousy Allah has prohibited abomination, both open and secret And no person is more jealous of his honour than Allah, and no persons, is more fond of accepting an excuse than Allah on account of which He has sent messengers, announcers of glad tidings and warners; and no one is more fond of praise than Allah on account of which Allah has promised Paradise. [Sahih Muslim, Book 9, Hadith #3572]

- A Muslim woman is not allowed to flirt with men to test her husband's jealousy
- you are supposed to be dignified

15TH TRAIT: YOU HAVE TO BE JUST

- when you are called to judge, you need to be just

O you who believe! Stand out firmly for Allah and be just witnesses and let not the enmity and hatred of others make you avoid justice. Be just: that is nearer to piety, and fear Allah. Verily, Allah is Well-acquainted with what you do. (Al-Ma'idah 5:8)

- justice is the closest thing to Taqwa
- in some countries like Pakistan women are terrified to report a rape case
- because they'll either rape her again or accuse her of Zina, this is not Shariah

- many people demonstrate against the implementation of Shariah
- because they'll only implement it against the ethnic minority and women
- you need justice in order to have Shariah and only the one with Taqwa are just
- even some are oppressive to their kids, they force their daughters into marriage
- you can’t forcefully make a woman your wife

O you who believe! You are forbidden to inherit women against their will… (An-Nisa 4:19)

It was narrated from 'Aishah: "A girl came to her and said: 'My father married me to his brother's son so that he might raise his own status thereby, and I was unwilling.' She said: 'Sit here until the Prophet (SAW) comes.' Then the Messenger of Allah (SAW) came, and I told him (what she had said). He sent word to her father, calling him, and he left the matter up to her. She said: 'O Messenger of Allah, I accept what my father did, but I wanted to know whether women have any say in the matter."' [Sunan An-Nasai (Arabic/English), Vol 4, p.124-125, Hadith #3271]

- you are complaining about the rulers, but are you just at home?
- Allah made oppression, lies, breaking a promise etc haraam on Himself

...“Oh, my servants! I have made oppression haraam (forbidden) upon myself, and also between you. So do not oppress each other...." [Sahih Muslim, Hadith #6246]

Allah burdens not a person beyond his scope (2:286)

- He also doesn’t order us to do more than we can bear
- many of you don’t give women money to go shopping, yet you expect three meals a day
- and if you do this you lose your conjugal rights, so you need to avoid Zhulm (oppression)

Abu Hurayrah (RA) reported that Allah’s Messenger said, "Three prayers are surely answered: the supplication of the oppressed, the supplication of the traveller, and the supplication of the father for his son." [Abu Dawud 1536, Ibn Majah 3862, Ahmed 7513, Tirmidhi 3448]

Narrated By Ibn Abbas: The Prophet sent Mu'adh to Yemen and said, "Fear the supplication of the oppressed, for there is no barrier between it and Allah." [al-Bukhari (1395) and Muslim (19)]

- many men in darul harb marry sisters, but don’t pay their dowry, that is another form of oppression
- people with no Taqwa always target the weak to oppress them

16TH TRAIT: AVOID ENVY

- to see your Muslim brother with Barakah and you want it disappear from him, this is a quality of Iblis

Abu Hurairah (RA) narrated that the Prophet (SAW) said: “Beware of envy! Indeed the envy eats up good deeds like the fire eats up wood” (Abu Dawud 4903 and Ibn Majah 4210)

- he envied Adam (AS) and refused to bow down to him because Allah chose Adam to be Khalifah
-if you believe in Qadr you don’t have envy
- but when your eemaan and Taqwa is weak, then you become envious
- everything in this world is cursed, so how can you be envious?

Abu Huraira (RA) reported that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, “"The world, with all that it contains, is accursed except for dhikr (the remembrance of Allah) that which pleases Allah; and the religious scholars and seekers of knowledge.'' [Tirmidhi 2322 and Ibn e Majah 4112, (Abu Eesa al-Tirmidhi said: this hadeeth is hasan ghareeb)]

Sahi Ibn Sa’d (RA) reported that Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said, “If in Allah’s sight , the world had so much worth as wing of mosquito then a infidel would never have drunk even a drop of water.” [Tirmidhi 2320 and Ibn e Majah 4110]

- you allowed to be envious in two occasions only

"Do not wish to be like anyone, except in two cases: (1) A man whom Allah has given wealth and he spends it righteously. (2) A man whom Allah has given wisdom (knowledge of the Qur'an and the Hadith) and he acts according to it and teaches it to others." [al-Bukhari (7529) and Muslim (815)]

17TH TRAIT: AVOID CARRYING GRUDGES

- the one who says the salam first is better because he has less pride in his heart

Narrated By Abu Aiyub Al-Ansari: Allah's Apostle said, "It is not lawful for a man to desert his brother Muslim for more than three nights. (It is unlawful for them that) when they meet, one of them turns his face away from the other, and the other turns his face from the former, and the better of the two will be the one who greets the other first." [Sahih Bukhari, Vol 8, Book 73, Hadith #100]

On the authority of Abu Hurayrah (RA), who said that the Messenger of ALLAH (ﷺ) said: "The gates of Paradise will be opened on Mondays and on Thursdays, and every servant [of ALLAH] who associates nothing with ALLAH will be forgiven, except for the man who has a grudge against his brother. [About them] it will be said: 'Delay these two until they are reconciled; delay these two until they are reconciled.'" [Muslim (also by Malik and Abu Dawud)]

- giving and answering salam is sufficient

Narrated By Abu Khirash as-Sulami: Abu Khirash heard the Apostle of Allah (ﷺ) say: "If one keeps apart from his brother for a year, it is like shedding his blood." [Abu Dawud, Book 36, Hadith #4897]

- so you are not allowed to carry grudges, sort out your problems with your brothers
- this Hadith does not apply for munafiqs
- you can boycott them for 10 years, they are fake
- Allah ask us to be harsh with them

O Prophet (Muhammad ﷺ)! Strive hard against the disbelievers and the hypocrites, and be harsh against them, their abode is Hell, - and worst indeed is that destination. (At-Tawbah 9:73)

18TH TRAIT: BE GENTLE WITH WOMEN

Abu Hurayrah (RA) reported that Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said, "The most perfect of believers in belief is the best of them in character. The best of you are those who are the best to their women." [Tirmidhi 1165, Abu Dawud 4682]

- you are not allowed to be a wife beater or call her names

O you who believe! Let not a group scoff at another group, it may be that the latter are better than the former; nor let (some) women scoff at other women, it may be that the latter are better than the former, nor defame one another, nor insult one another by nicknames. How bad is it, to insult one's brother after having Faith [i.e. to call your Muslim brother (a faithful believer) as: "O sinner", or "O wicked", etc.]. And whosoever does not repent, then such are indeed Zalimûn (wrong-doers, etc.). (Al-Hujurat 49:11)

- sometimes verbal abuse is worse than physical abuse
- name calling is haraam
- to ridicule your Muslim brothers and sisters is also haraam

19TH TRAIT: YOU SHOULD BE HARD WORKING, AMBICIOUS AND OPTIMISTIC

- do not be pessimists
- begging is not allowed in Islam, you have no flesh on your face on Day of Judgment if you beg

And that man can have nothing but what he does (good or bad), (An-Najm 53:39)

Hamza, son of 'Abdullah, reported on the authority of his father that the Apostle of Allah (ﷺ) said: "When a man is always begging from people, he would meet Allah (in a state) that there would be no flesh on his face." [Sahih Muslim, Book 5, Hadith #2263]

It was narrated that Abu Hurayrah (RA) said: The Messenger of Allaah (ﷺ) said: “For one of you to chop wood and carry it on his back is better for him than asking (begging) from anyone who will either give him something or refuse to give him anything.” [al-Bukhari (1968) and Muslim (1042)]

20TH TRAIT: TAQWA

- Taqwa is to put between yourself and the wrath of Allah a barrier
- by doing what is fard and by abstaining from what is haraam
- see 2:197

And whatever good you do, (be sure) Allah knows it. And take a provision (with you) for the journey, but the best provision is At-Taqwa (piety, righteousness, etc.). So fear Me, O men of understanding! (Al-Baqarah 2:197)

- Jihad, hajj, marriage are all journeys, the best provision you need on these is Taqwa

O you who believe! If you obey and fear Allah, He will grant you Furqan a criterion [(to judge between right and wrong), or (Makhraj, i.e. making a way for you to get out from every difficulty)], and will expiate for you your sins, and forgive you, and Allah is the Owner of the Great Bounty. (Al-Anfal 8:29)

- because when you have Taqwa you get the Furqaan (criterion)
- to judge between the good from the bad, the pure from the corrupt, the truth and the false

The life of the Prophet (ﷺ) has been said by his wife, Aisha (RA) to be like "a walking Qur’an", embodying the Laws of Almighty Allah (subhaana wa taala).

And verily, you (O Muhammad ﷺ) are on an exalted standard of character. (Al-Qalam 68:4)
