Tafsir Surah Jinn (The Jinns are of Various Sects) [note]

TAFIR SURAH JINN

(THE JINNS ARE OF VARIOUS SECTS) 

This Surah was revealed in Makkah.

AYAH 1

Say (O Muhammad ﷺ) : "It has been revealed to me that a group (from three to ten in number) of jinns[] listened (to this Qur'ân). They said: 'Verily! We have heard a wonderful Recital (this Qur'ân)!  (Al-Jinn 72:1)

-This ayah has many benefits; the first is that the ayah is telling you the Jinn are a creation and separate species from us.

-They were created from smokeless fire.

-The angels were created from light, Jinn from smokeless fire, the human from clay.

Aisha reported that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said: "The Angels were born out of light and the Jinns were born out of the spark of fire and Adam was born as he has been defined (in the Qur'an) for you (i.e. he is fashioned out of clay)." [Sahih Muslim, Book 42, Hadith #7134]

And We did certainly create man out of clay from an altered black mud. (Al-Hijr 15:26) Sahih International

-The other lesson is that the Jinn have faculty of seeing, hearing and the Jinn eat sleep drink, get married and have kids just like us.

-The only difference is that they live longer than us and the Jinn have supernatural powers as a test for them.

An Ifrit (strong) from the jinns said: "I will bring it to you before you rise from your place (council). And verily, I am indeed strong, and trustworthy for such work." (An-Naml 27:39)

-This is evidence that the Jinn are tested by supernatural powers but many of them fail this test because they use the supernatural powers for mischief on earth.

-Muhammad (ﷺ) was sent to man and jinn this is why the Jinn said "we heard a wonderful recitation".

-The other lesson is that the Jinn know that shirk is wrong and they are able to differentiate right from wrong and they know that shirk is wrong.

-The other lesson is that Jinn were given a free will to choose from right and wrong.

-Angels, animals do not have a free will but man and Jinn were both given a free will.

-They made the decision to single out Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) for worship to prove that the Jinn have a free will: 18:50

And (remember) when We said to the angels; "Prostrate to Adam." So they prostrated except Iblis (Satan). He was one of the jinns; he disobeyed the Command of his Lord. Will you then take him (Iblis) and his offspring as protectors and helpers rather than Me while they are enemies to you? What an evil is the exchange for the Zalimun (polytheists, and wrong-doers, etc). (Al-Kahf 18:50)

-Iblees rebelled against his Lord and the angels bow down to adam without rebelling because they have no free will.

-Ibless rebelled against his lord because he has a free will.

-The majority of men use their freewill to disobey Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ).

And if you obey most of those on earth, they will mislead you far away from Allah's Path. They follow nothing but conjectures, and they do nothing but lie. (Al-An'am 6:116)

-The majority will always be evil.

AYAH 3

And exalted be the Majesty of our Lord, He has taken neither a wife, nor a son (or offspring or children).(Al-Jinn 72:3)

-The infidels say Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) "beget" a son.
-Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) said He does not have a wife or a son to accuse Allah  (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) of fathering a son is not a simple matter.

He is the Originator of the heavens and the earth. How can He have children when He has no wife? He created all things and He is the All-Knower of everything. (Al-An'am 6:101)

AYAH 4

And that the foolish among us [i.e. Iblîs (Satan) or the polytheists amongst the jinns] used to utter against Allâh that which was wrong and not right. (Al-Jinn 72:4)

-There are people from among Jinn and man who are guilty of lying on Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) who fight the truth and they lie on Allah سبحانه وتعالىٰ

And so We have appointed for every Prophet enemies - Shayatin (devils) among mankind and jinns, inspiring one another with adorned speech as a delusion (or by way of deception). If your Lord had so willed, they would not have done it, so leave them alone with their fabrications. (Tafseer Qurtubi, Vol.7, Page 67) (Al-An'am 6:112)

-The enemies of the Haq can be found among the Jinn and human beings.

HOW DO PEOPLE LIE ON ALLAH  سبحانه وتعالىٰ

1- They accuse Allah سبحانه وتعالىٰ of begetting a son like the Christians claim.

2- They accuse Allah سبحانه وتعالىٰ of having partners.

Surely, disbelievers are those who said: "Allah is the third of the three (in a Trinity)." But there is no ilah (god) (none who has the right to be worshipped) but One Ilah (God -Allah). And if they cease not from what they say, verily, a painful torment will befall the disbelievers among them. (Al-Ma'idah 5:73)

3- They claim that Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) appeared on earth in the form of a man like the Christians claim.

-NOI the Nation of Islam, they say Allah سبحانه وتعالىٰ appeared in the form of Farad Muhammad.

-This man used to sell drugs he was arrested, fingerprinted his photo was taken.

It is not given to any human being that Allah should speak to him unless (it be) by Inspiration, or from behind a veil, or (that) He sends a Messenger to reveal what He wills by His Leave. Verily, He is Most High, Most Wise[] . (Ash-Shura 42:51)

-The NOI and Christians lie on Allah سبحانه وتعالىٰ

4- They describe Allah سبحانه وتعالىٰ with words that are not appropriate the make in appropriate attributions.

Indeed, Allah has heard the statement of those (Jews) who say: "Truly, Allah is poor and we are rich!" We shall record what they have said and their killing of the Prophets unjustly, and We shall say: "Taste you the torment of the burning (Fire)." (Aali Imran 3:181)

And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart. (Genesis 6:6) King James Version

5- They cast doubt of existence of Allah سبحانه وتعالىٰ the agnostic is an atheist who is a coward.

6- The atheist who came out and deny his maker

7-Pantheist , pan means all the pantheist says "everything is Allah"

"There is no difference between the creation and creator" pantheists lie on Allah سبحانه وتعالىٰ as well.

8- Sufi "Allah is everywhere" because he believes in "wahdat al wujjud" the notion of oneness of being you can lie on Allah SWT by claiming "it is minor kufr to dismantle the sharia"

9- Lying on Allah سبحانه وتعالىٰ by stating it is minor kufr to dismantle the sharia.

"Be you not exalted against me, but come to me as Muslims (true believers who submit to Allah with full submission)'" (An-Naml 27:31)

[This is the aqeeda of the Saudi Salafis.

10- Giving your imams the attributes of Allah سبحانه وتعالىٰ this is the plight of the shia "the universe is subservient to our imams"

'And that the foolish among us [i.e. Iblîs (Satan) or the polytheists amongst the jinns] used to utter against Allâh that which was wrong and not right. (Al-Jinn 72:4)

Sahih International: And that our foolish one has been saying about Allah an excessive transgression.

-When a person is a fools, they always have a wrong aqeeda.

-Whenever Allah سبحانه وتعالىٰ wants good for you, He gives you the proper understanding of the deen.

Sufyan Ath-Thawri from Abdur Rahman Bin Abbas said Ayas Abu Yahya related to me from Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (RA) he used to say in his sermon the best provision is piety and the peak of wisdom is to fear Allah. [Bayhaqi in Sha'ab al Imaan (1/470) and Sunan al-Kubra]

If Allah desires good for someone He bestows on him understanding of the deen (Bukhari, Vol 9, no 415)

AYAH 5

'And verily, we thought that men and jinns would not utter a lie against Allâh. (Al-Jinn 72:5)

-They did not realize that man and Jinn would utter lies about Allah سبحانه وتعالىٰ because it’s a great evil.

-But when people are evil they can’t control their tongue and their private parts.

-The worst liar is the one who lies on Allah سبحانه وتعالىٰ, when you lie on Muhammad PBUH you lie on Allah سبحانه وتعالىٰ because Muhammad is the massager of Allah سبحانه وتعالىٰ

AYAH 6:

'And verily, there were men among mankind who took shelter with the masculine among the jinns, but they (jinns) increased them (mankind) in sin and disbelief. (Al-Jinn 72:6) 

-Because the Jinn are blessed with supernatural powers their world is mysterious it’s all about fame and fortune because the Jinn have supernatural powers. There are men who have the Jinn work for them because they are in secure.

-But the Jinn will not work for you unless you do Kufr an shirk if you don’t give your soul to iblees they will never work for you because they can travel far distances in seconds, magicians see them as great assets.

-The Jinn they are of various types the same way you have Muslims kuffar and hypocrites.

-You have the same types among the jinn there are 3 types of jinn: Muslims, kufar, hypocrites.

-The Prophet ﷺ said that the Jinn go up to the heaven and listen to the secret conversations then they come back to earth and mix one truth with 100 lies.

'Urwa reported from 'A'isha that she said that people asked Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) about the kahins. Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said to them: It is nothing (i. e. it is a mere superstition). They said: Allah's Messenger, they at times narrate to us things which we find true. Thereupon Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said: That is a word pertaining to truth which a jinn snatches away and then cackles into the ear of his friend as the hen does. And then they mix in it more than one hundred lies. [Sahih Muslim 2228 b]

-If the Jinn possess someone the Jinn will only leave if the kafir will say "in the name of Jesus" by getting out, he cause 1000 people in the convention to believe Jesus is God.

-The Jinn were on earth before us Ibn Kathir said they were on earth 2000 years before us record in his book "Al Bidaya wal Nihaya"

AYAH 7:

'And they thought as you thought, that Allâh will not send any Messenger (to mankind or jinns). (Al-Jinn 72:7)

-Man and jinn are similar in their mentality and the reason is because we have a free will.

-We have sexual needs, food drink to sleep because they are similar and work with each other.

-But Allah سبحانه وتعالىٰ did not create man an jinn for any reason, other than to worship Him.

And I (Allah) created not the jinns and humans except they should worship Me (Alone). (Adh-Dhariyat 51:56)

AYAH 8:

'And we have sought to reach the heaven; but found it filled with stern guards and flaming fires. (Al-Jinn 72:8)

Then look again and yet again, your sight will return to you in a state of humiliation and worn out. (Al-Mulk 67:4)

-The stars are used as missiles to stop the Jinn from eves dropping on the angel’s conversations.

And indeed We have adorned the nearest heaven with lamps, and We have made such lamps (as) missiles to drive away the Shayatin (devils), and have prepared for them the torment of the blazing Fire. (Al-Mulk 67:5)

-The stars were created for three reasons, which are

1- To guide you at night.

2- To beautify the heavens.

3- Use the stars as missiles to burn up the shayateen when they listen to the secret conversations.

Qutadah said: [And indeed We have adorned the nearest heaven with lamps... (Al-Mulk 67:5)] Allah created these stars for three purposes, i.e. as decoration of the sky, as missiles to hit the devils, and as signs to guide travellers. So, if anybody tries to find a different interpretation, he is mistaken and just wastes his efforts in seeking something of which he has no knowledge." [Sahih Bukhari, Baab fi’l-Nujoom (4/107)]

AYAH 9:

'And verily, we used to sit there in stations, to (steal) a hearing, but any who listens now will find a flaming fire watching him in ambush. (Al-Jinn 72:9)

Verily! We have adorned the near heaven with the stars (for beauty). (6) And to guard against every rebellious devil. (7) They cannot listen to the higher group (angels) for they are pelted from every side. (8) Outcast, and theirs is a constant (or painful) torment. (9) Except such as snatch away something by stealing and they are pursued by a flaming fire of piercing brightness. (As-Saffat 37:6-10)

Not all the Jinn were stopped, some got away.

Abu Huraira reported that the Prophet (ﷺ), said “Whoever comes to a fortune-teller and believes him has disbelieved in what was revealed to Muhammad (SAW)”. [Musnad Ahmad (Vol. 2, pg. 429) No. 9532 and Mustadrak al-Hakim (Vol. 1, pg. 49) No. 15]

1669. Narrated Safiyyah, daughter of Abu `Ubaid, on the authority of some of the wives of the Prophet (sallallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam) who said, "He who goes to one who claims to tell about matters of the Unseen and believes in him, his Salat (prayers) will not be accepted for forty days.''[Muslim Chapter 303 from Imam Al-Nawawi's Riyad-us-Saliheen].

AYAH 10

'And we know not whether evil is intended for those on earth, or whether their Lord intends for them a Right Path. (Al-Jinn 72:10)

-The Jinn are saying we don’t know the future we don’t have any knowledge of Ilm al ghaib here the Jinn is admitting.

Say (O Muhammad SAW): "I possess no power of benefit or hurt to myself except as Allah wills. If I had the knowledge of the Ghaib (unseen), I should have secured for myself an abundance of wealth, and no evil should have touched me. I am but a warner, and a bringer of glad tidings unto people who believe." (Al-A'raf 7:188)

-The shias claim the imams are infallible and that they have ilm al ghaib.

AYAH 11:

'There are among us some that are righteous, and some the contrary; we are groups each having a different way (religious sect, etc.). (Al-Jinn 72:11)

-The same way humans developed into different religious groups, the Jinn do so.
-They are of three dimensions Muslim, Kuffar ,Hypocrite.

Those who eat Riba (usury) will not stand (on the Day of Resurrection) except like the standing of a erson beaten by Shaitan (Satan) leading him to insanity. That is because they say: "Trading is only like Riba (usury)," whereas Allah has permitted trading and forbidden Riba (usury). So whosoever receives an admonition from his Lord and stops eating Riba (usury) shall not be punished for the past; his case is for Allah (to judge); but whoever returns [to Riba (usury)], such are the dwellers of the Fire - they will abide therein. (Al-Baqarah 2:275)

-The above mentioned verse was used by scholars to prove that the Jinn posses people.

-When Ahmad ibn Hanbal, when his son approached him.

-The Jinn possess people.

‘Abd-Allah ibn al-Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal said: “I said to my father, ‘There are some people who say that the jinn do not enter the body of the epileptic.’ He said: ‘O my son, they are lying; the jinn could speak through this person.’”

Commenting on this, Ibn Qudamah said: “What he said is well known, because a person may suffer an epileptic seizure and speak in a language that no one understands, and his body may be beaten with blows that would fell a camel, 

Jabir narrated that The Prophet ﷺ said: “Do not enter upon Al-Mughibar (the women whose husband are absent), for indeed the Shaitan flows through one of you as the blood flows.” We said: “And you?” He said: “And me, but Allah helped me over him, so I am safe.” Jami at-Tirmidhi Vol. 1, Book 7, Hadith 1172 [Hasan] 

-Its only the Mutazila who beg to differ when can take some aspect of fiqh from them but not Aqeedah.

THE REASONS WHY THE JIN N POSSESS PEOPLE

1- You harm a Jinn accidentally for example you urinate in a stone hole where he lives and he thought u did it deliberately.

2- The Jinn falls in love with you.

3- The Jinn is wicked and is bent on mischief.

4- The Jinn works with a magician and the magician dispatches the Jinn to possess you and you have to pay him to remove the Jinn.

AYAH 12: 

'And we think that we cannot escape (from the punishment of) Allâh in the earth, nor can we escape (from the punishment) by flight. (Al-Jinn 72:12)

-They will never be able to escape punishment of Allah  سبحانه وتعالىٰ even though they can travel place to place in seconds, they can’t outstrip Allah سبحانه وتعالىٰ

AYAH 13:

'And indeed when we heard the Guidance (this Qur'ân), we believed therein (Islâmic Monotheism), and whosoever believes in his Lord shall have no fear, either of a decrease in the reward of his good deeds or an increase in punishment for his sins. (Al-Jinn 72:13)

Those who believe (in the Oneness of Allah - Islamic Monotheism), and whose hearts find rest in the remembrance of Allah, Verily, in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest. (Ra'd 13:28)

-When you are a believer, you have no fear neither do you suffer any grief but when you are an infidel you suffer from grief.

-The believers find contentment in dikhr.

AYAH 14:

'And of us some are Muslims (who have submitted to Allâh, after listening to this Qur'ân), and of us some are Al-Qâsitun (disbelievers those who have deviated from the Right Path)'. And whosoever has embraced Islâm (i.e. has become a Muslim by submitting to Allâh), then such have sought the Right Path." (Al-Jinn 72:14)

-The Jinn is telling you some of us are Muslims, but others are not Kuffar.

-The Jinn, because they listen to the Bayan Sermons of humans, some converted to Islam some converted to Christianity, various speeches, persuasions.
