Science of Quran
The Names of The Qur’an
It was requested of me to
cover the topic ‘Sciences of Hadith’
But I felt it was more appropriate to cover that after covering ‘Science of the Quran’ In Sha Allah.
Although Tawheed is the root of our religion, people consider topics such as Tawheed and shirk to be ‘radical topics’. Sciences of Quran and Hadith are luxury topics and are easier for people to digest.
THE NAMES OF THE HOLY QUR’AN
The Qur’an has 90 names
according to the scholars.
Tonight I shall be discussing 20 of those names In Sha Allah.
1. AL QUR’AN
Al Qur’an means that which
is recited.
Therefore the Quran was
recited and memorized by thousands of people.
Omar Ibn Al Khattab
suggested to Abu Bakr (radiyallahu ‘anhuma) to put the Qur’an in the form of a
book.
This was because many Hafiz
died on the battlefield and Omar feared that the Qur’an would be lost and
scattered.
Abu Bakr hesitated but Omar convinced him to do so.
Verily, We have sent it down as an Arabic Qur'ān in order that you may understand. (Yusuf 12: 2)
2. AL KITAB – THE BOOK
He it is Who sent among the unlettered ones a Messenger (Muhammad SAW) from among themselves, reciting to them His Verses, purifying them (from the filth of disbelief and polytheism), and teaching them the Book (this Qur'ān, Islāmic laws and Islāmic jurisprudence) and Al-Hikmah (As-Sunnah: legal ways, orders, acts of worship, etc. of Prophet Muhammad SAW). And verily, they had been before in mainfest error; (Al-Jumu'ah 62: 2)
The Kitab is the Qur'an and the Hikmah (wisdom) is the Sunnah.
3. KALAMULLAH - THE SPEECH OF ALLAH (سبحانه وتعالىٰ )
And if anyone of the Mushrikûn (polytheists, idolaters, pagans, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allāh) seeks your protection then grant him protection, so that he may hear the Word of Allāh (the Qur'ān), and then escort him to where he can be secure, that is because they are men who know not. (At-Tawbah 9: 6)
If a person believes that the Qur’an is the speech of someone other than Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ ), that person is a kaafir.
4. NUR
O mankind! Verily, there has come to you a convincing proof (Prophet Muhammad SAW) from your Lord, and We sent down to you a manifest light (this Qur'ān). (An-Nisa 4: 174)
The Qur’an is called Nur
because you are enlightened with the teachings of the Qur’an.
It takes you away from the darkness of jahiliyyah to the light of Islam.
5. MAW'IDHA
It admonishes the believers.
6. SHIFAA – THE CURE
It cures you from both physical and spiritual ailments.
The scholars use this hadith to say you can charge money for reciting over sick people (rukiyyah) and for teaching people the Quran:
Narrated By Abu Said: A group of the companions of Allah's Apostle proceeded on a journey till they dismounted near one of the Arab tribes and requested them to entertain them as their guests, but they (the tribe people) refused to entertain them. Then the chief of that tribe was bitten by a snake (or stung by a scorpion) and he was given all sorts of treatment, but all in vain. Some of them said, "Will you go to the group (those travelers) who have dismounted near you and see if one of them has something useful?" They came to them and said, "O the group! Our leader has been bitten by a snake (or stung by a scorpion) and we have treated him with everything but nothing benefited him Has anyone of you anything useful?" One of them replied, "Yes, by Allah, I know how to treat with a Ruqya. But. by Allah, we wanted you to receive us as your guests but you refused. I will not treat your patient with a Ruqya till you fix for us something as wages." Consequently they agreed to give those travelers a flock of sheep. The man went with them (the people of the tribe) and started spitting (on the bite) and reciting Surat-al-Fatiha till the patient was healed and started walking as if he had not been sick. When the tribe people paid them their wages they had agreed upon, some of them (the Prophet's companions) said, "Distribute (the sheep)." But the one who treated with the Ruqya said, "Do not do that till we go to Allah's Apostle and mention to him what has happened, and see what he will order us."So they came to Allah's Apostle and mentioned the story to him and he said, "How do you know that Surat-al-Fatiha is a Ruqya? You have done the right thing. Divide (what you have got) and assign for me a share with you." [Sahih Bukhari, Vol 7, Book 71, Hadith #645]
The following hadith is used to allow people to charge for knowledge of the Quran:
Sahl ibn Sad Saidi (RA)
reported that a woman came to Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) and said, “I submit myself to you.” Then, she stood for a long
time. A man said, “O Messenger of Allah, marry me to her, if you do not need
her.” He said, “Do you have anything to give her (by way of dower)?’ He said,
“I have nothing but this lower wrapper of the body.” So, Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said, “If you give it to her then you will sit and have no
lower garment on you. So, Look out for something else.”
”He said, “I do not find.” The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “Search, even if you find an iron ring.” He said, “I sought but could not find anything.” So, Allah’s Messenger asked him, “Do you have with you anything of the Qur’an?” He said, “Yes, That surah, and that surah.” So Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said, “I marry you, to her with what you have of the Qur’an.” [Sahih Bukhari (6/192) No. 5029, Sahih Muslim (2/1040) No. 1425, Sunan Tirmidhi (3/421) No. 1114, Musnad Ahmad (5/330) No. 22850, Sunan An-Nasa'i (6/113) No. 3339]
7. HUDA – THE GUIDANCE
A guidance for mankind
8. RAHMA - MERCY
Mercy for mankind
O mankind! There has come to you a good advice from your Lord (i.e. the Qur'an, ordering all that is good and forbidding all that is evil), and a healing for that (disease of ignorance, doubt, hypocrisy and differences, etc.) in your breasts, - a guidance and a mercy (explaining lawful and unlawful things, etc.) for the believers. (Yunus 10: 57)
Allah
(سبحانه وتعالىٰ ) has mentioned 4 of the names of the Quran in a single ayah.
These are the ones for points 5-8:
Maw’idha = an
Instruction / Caution / Good advice
Shifaa = A Healing
Huda = A Guidance
Rahma = A Mercy
9. Al FURQAN
Furqan - A Criterion that you use to decide good from bad etc
For example, according to
Quranic values two cousins are allowed to marry, but it is frowned upon in
European culture.
Muslims see Quranic Values as their norm.
European values frown upon
cousin marriages but allow and encourage marriage between two men or between
two women
In South Africa it is not illegal for a person to have an affair
These infidels have no values
There is no other Furqan
except the Qur’an you use it to differentiate the Good from the Evil, the pure
from the impure, etc
As Muslims, our values are the Quranic values
Ibn Mas'ud (RA) said, "Whatever the Muslims see as good is good with Allah, Whatever the Muslims see as bad, Allah sees as bad." [Mustadrak al-Haakim (3/83) No. 4465, classed as Sahih by Adh-Dhahabee]
10. THE DHIKR - REMINDER
Verily We: It is We Who have sent down the Dhikr (i.e. the Qur'ān) and surely, We will guard it (from corruption). (Al-Hijr 15: 9)
If you hear a person say the Quran is corrupted and you have doubts that the person is a kaafir, you become a kaafir as well.
This concept is called, ‘Chain Takfir’
It is chain takfir because when you refuse to call the kaafir a kaafir, you become a kaafir yourself.
Muhammad ibn Abdul Wahhab
(rahimahullah) explained chained takfir.
Some misquote him and
claim you cannot make takfir on born Muslims.
This claim is ridiculous
and is incorrect.
If a person has apostatised from Islam, you make Takfir on him.
You are allowed to make takfir on born Muslims who have apostatised from Islam.
Al-Imam Ishaq Ibn Rahawayh said: ‘All Muslims are in consensus that whoever curses Allah or curses His Messenger, or rejects something from what Allah revealed, or killed a prophet, that he is a kafir; and even if he accept what was revealed by Allah. And Al-Khattabi said, "I don't know of anyone who disagrees with the obligation of his killing." And Muhammad Ibn Sahnun said that the scholars are in consensus that the one who curses the Messenger is a Kafir; and whoever doubts his Kufr is a Kafir.’ (Kitab al-Sarim al-Maslul 'ala satim al-Rasul, by Ibn Taymiyya)
11. THE RUH
It is called the Ruh
because it gives life to those who were spiritually dead.
There are two types of dead: Physical and Clinical.
Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) refers to the Qur’an as Ruh in Ash Shura Verse 52:
And thus We have sent to you (O Muhammad ﷺ) Ruhan (an Inspiration, and a Mercy) of Our Command. You knew not what is the Book, nor what is Faith? But We have made it (this Qur'ān) a light wherewith We guide whosoever of Our slaves We will. And verily, you (O Muhammad ﷺ) are indeed guiding (mankind) to the Straight Path (i.e. Allāh's religion of Islāmic Monotheism). (Ash-Shura 42: 52)
Why does the Quran give
life to the living?
Because it gives life to
people who used to be spiritually dead.
When Jesus (‘alayhi salatu
wa salam) said, ‘Let the dead bury their dead’
He meant, let those who are spiritually dead (kuffaar) bury their relative (s) who were physically dead.
12. AH SANUL HADITH
This means the Best of
Speech.
The word hadith means
speech.
And the best speech is the
Qur’an.
This is because some ahadith recorded about the Prophet (ﷺ) are hasan, daeef, daeef jidan, fabricated, munkar and sahih.
Hasan = good
Daeef = weak
Daeef jidan = very weak
Fabricated = fabricated
Sahih = Authentic
Munkar = objectionable / denounced (contradicts history)
Ex. If you see a hadith that says the prophet (ﷺ) spent 15 years in Makkah, that contradicts the facts and so is Munkar
The Quran has no levels of
grading because no one can say an ayah is fabricated or weak.
This is why Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ )
Said the Best Hadith is the Book of Allah:
Allāh has sent down the best statement, a Book (this Qur'ān), its parts resembling each other in goodness and truth, oft-repeated. The skins of those who fear their Lord shiver from it (when they recite it or hear it). Then their skin and their heart soften to the remembrance of Allāh. That is the guidance of Allāh. He Guides therewith whom He pleases and whomever Allāh sends astray, for him there is no guide. (Az-Zamar 39: 23)
This is why whenever you
debate with people who don't believe in hadith, it's best that you use the
Qur’an to debate them.
Because they can’t claim that the hujjah is weak or fabricated
Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ ) Told you to contemplate on the Qur’an.
Do they not then consider the Qur'ān carefully? Had it been from other than Allāh, they would surely have found therein much contradictions. (An-Nisa 4: 82)
13. TANZIL – THAT WHICH IS REVEALED (A REVELATION)
It is referred to Tanzilul Rahman – The revelation of Al Rahman.
And truly, this (the Qur'ān) is a revelation from the Lord of the 'Alamīn (mankind, jinns and all that exists), (Ash-Shu'ara 26: 192)
14. THE WAHI
The word Wahi also means Revelation.
Say (O Muhammad ﷺ): "I warn you only by the revelation (from Allāh and not by the opinion of the religious scholars and others). But the deaf (who follow the religious scholars and others blindly) will not hear the call, (even) when they are warned [(i.e. one should follow only the Qur'ān and the Sunnah (legal ways, orders, acts of worship, statements of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ , as the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ did)]. (Al-Anbiya 21: 45)
15. THE ROPE OF ALLAH (سبحانه وتعالىٰ )
Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ ) said in Aali Imran Verse 103:
And hold fast, all of you together, to the Rope of Allāh (i.e. this Qur'ān), and be not divided among yourselves...(Aali Imran 3: 103)
The Rope of Allah (سبحانه
وتعالىٰ
) in the above ayah is the Holy Quran
16. AL ILM - THE KNOWLEDGE
Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ ) said that the Qur’an is the knowledge:
Never will the Jews nor the Christians be pleased with you (O Muhammad Peace be upon him) till you follow their religion. Say: "Verily, the Guidance of Allāh (i.e. Islāmic Monotheism) that is the (only) Guidance. And if you (O Muhammad Peace be upon him) were to follow their (Jews and Christians) desires after what you have received of Knowledge (i.e. the Qur'ān), then you would have against Allāh neither any Walī (protector or guardian) nor any helper. (Al-Baqarah 2: 120)
Allah (سبحانه
وتعالىٰ
) Told us in the Quran that the kuffar wants us to be like them in the above
ayah.
This is why they complain that we don’t integrate into their societies
Even though Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ ) is Addressing Muhammad (ﷺ) in the ayah, it is a command for the Ummah of Muhammad (ﷺ) unless it is specified that this action is only for Muhammad (ﷺ)
Similarly, even though the Prophet (ﷺ) only told one boy to eat from the area close to him, the instruction is for all Muslims:
Narrated By 'Omar bin Abi Salama: I was a boy under the care of Allah's Apostle and my hand used to go around the dish while I was eating. So Allah's Apostle said to me, 'O boy! Mention the Name of Allah and eat with your right hand, and eat of the dish what is nearer to you." Since then I have applied those instructions when eating. [Bukhari #5061 & Muslim #2022]
17. BASHIR - THE BRINGER OF GLAD TIDINGS
Giving glad tidings [of Paradise to the one who believes in the Oneness of Allāh (i.e. Islāmic Monotheism) and fears Allāh much (abstains from all kinds of sins and evil deeds) and loves Allāh much (performing all kinds of good deeds which He has ordained)], and warning (of punishment in the Hell Fire to the one who disbelieves in the Oneness of Allāh), but most of them turn away, so they listen not. (Fussilat 41: 4)
18. NADHIR - WARNER
Nadhir is a Warner for
mankind
It warns us about the Day Of Judgement and the punishment one will receive if we disobey Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ )
19. AL HAQQ - THE TRUTH
Verily! This is the true narrative [about the story of 'Iesa (Jesus)], and, Lā ilāha ill-Allāh (none has the right to be worshipped but Allāh, the One and the Only True God, Who has neither a wife nor a son). And indeed, Allāh is the All-Mighty, the All-Wise. (Aali Imran 3: 62)
The Quran is Al Haqq
No batil (Falsehood) can come into the Qur’an
Falsehood cannot come to it from before it or behind it (it is) sent down by the All-Wise, Worthy of all praise (Allāh). (Fussilat 41: 42)
20. AMRULLAH - THE COMMANDMENT OF ALLAH (سبحانه وتعالىٰ )
That is the Command of Allāh, which He has sent down to you, and whosoever fears Allāh and keeps his duty to Him, He will remit his sins from him, and will enlarge his reward. (At-Talaq 65: 5)
According to the
Mu'tazila, all the Commandments of the Quran mean mustahab (i.e. recommended)
According to Ahla sunna wal jamaa, all the Commandments of the Quran mean Fard
(i.e. obligatory)
It is compulsory on you to
follow the Commands of Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ )
unless we have evidence to do otherwise
According to Alha sunna wal jamaa all the commandments from the Prophet (ﷺ) are also fard unless we have evidence to prove otherwise.
The evidence of Ahlus Sunna Wal Jamaah is stronger:
And whatever the Messenger has given you - take; and what he has forbidden you - refrain from. And fear Allah; indeed, Allah is severe in penalty.’ (Hashr: 7)
In the time of the Rasool
(ﷺ) there was a man called Magheeth (radiyallahu
‘anhu) and he loved his wife, Barira.
Ayesha (radiyallahu ‘anha)
paid to release his wife, Barira, from slavery.
According to Shariah if
you and your wife are on the same status then you are kufuwan (co- equal to one
another).
Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ ) used the same word in the following ayah.
"And there is none co-equal or comparable unto Him." (Al-Ikhlas 112:4)
Barira was no longer a
slave but her husband was still a slave
If one is not a slave, they can leave you on the grounds that you are no longer
‘kufuwan’ (co-equal)
When Ayesha paid for
Barira to be free, she decided to move on
Magheeth would walk behind his ex-wife crying, begging her not to leave him
Magheeth asked the Prophet
(ﷺ) to beg his wife not to move on
The Prophet (ﷺ) was touched by this & interceded
Barira asked the Prophet (ﷺ) "Are you commanding me?"
The Prophet (ﷺ) said, ‘No.. I am only interceding for Magheeth’
As the prophet (ﷺ) declared that it was not a commandment, she acknowledged &
moved on
This is the argument you use to checkmate the Mu'tazila:
Narrated Ibn `Abbas: Barira’s husband was a slave called Mughith, as if I am seeing him now, going behind Barira and weeping with his tears flowing down his beard. The Prophet (ﷺ) said to `Abbas, "O `Abbas ! are you not astonished at the love of Mughith for Barira and the hatred of Barira for Mughith?" The Prophet (ﷺ) then said to Barira, "Why don't you return to him?" She said, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! Do you order me to do so?" He said, "No, I only intercede for him." She said, “I am not in need of him.” (Bukhari, Vol. 7, Book 63, Hadith 206)
All the four Imams except
Imam Malick said that the marriage between two people who aren’t kufuwan is
batil.
The first part of the
‘Quranic Sciences’ series was on the 20 Names of the Holy Qur’an.
Today's topic is The Wahy.
What does the Wahy
mean?
The Revelation of Allah (سبحانه
وتعالىٰ)
to His Prophets.
The purpose of the Wahy is to Guide mankind to the Straight Path.
Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) said:
And (remember) when your Lord said to the angels: "Verily, I am going to place (mankind) generations after generations on earth." They said: "Will You place therein those who will make mischief therein and shed blood, - while we glorify You with praises and thanks (Exalted be You above all that they associate with You as partners) and sanctify You." He (Allah) said: "I know that which you do not know." (Al-Baqarah 2: 30)
Why did Allah (سبحانه
وتعالىٰ
) Say to the angels, 'I Know that which you do not know'?
The angels expressed their
concerns to Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ ),
that man will abuse his freewill.
Allah (سبحانه
وتعالىٰ
) said, "I Know that which you know not"
But what does this mean?
It means I will not leave
man in limbo.
I will reveal unto him Wahy to Guide him to the Straight Path.
The Purpose of creating us is to Worship Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) only:
And I (Allah) created not the jinns and humans except they should worship Me (Alone). (Adh-Dhariyat 51: 56)
We Worship Allah (سبحانه
وتعالىٰ)
by obeying the Wahy.
And when we rebel against the Wahy, we worship the shaitan.
It is kufr to rebel
against the Wahy.
Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) said in Surah Ahzab Verse 36:
It is not for a believer, man or woman, when Allah and His Messenger have decreed a matter that they should have any option in their decision. And whoever disobeys Allah and His Messenger, he has indeed strayed in a plain error. (Al-Ahzab 33: 36)
Another Evidence to prove it is kufr to rebel against the Wahy is in surah 4 Verse 65:
But no, by your Lord, they can have no Faith, until they make you (O Muhammad ﷺ) judge in all disputes between them, and find in themselves no resistance against your decisions, and accept (them) with full submission. (An-Nisa 4: 65)
This is the evidence to
prove that it is kufr to rebel against the Revelation.
Another evidence is in Baqarah Verse 34:
And (remember) when We said to the angels: "Prostrate yourselves before Adam.". And they prostrated except Iblis (Satan), he refused and was proud and was one of the disbelievers (disobedient to Allah). (Al-Baqarah 2: 34)
These three Quranic Verses prove that it is kufr to rebel against the Wahy.
Whenever a non-Prophet
receives a directive from Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ )
It is called an
inspiration.
For example in Surah Nahl Verse 68, Allah (سبحانه
وتعالىٰ
) said:
And your Lord inspired the bee, saying: "Take you habitations in the mountains and in the trees and in what they erect. (An-Nahl 16: 68)
Even though the word "oha" is used, you cannot say Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ ) sent revelation to the bees.
When the mother of Musa
(‘alayhi salatu wa salam) received a directive from Allah (سبحانه
وتعالىٰ
) to put him in the basket, she acted against her motherly instinct.
The mother of Musa
(‘alayhi salatu wa salam) was Inspired to put him in the basket.
She acted against her motherly instinct because she was inspired.
Whenever a human or a jinn receives a directive from the shaitan to do something evil it is called, instigation.
Therefore, revelation can
only be used for Prophets.
If you are a non-prophet,
we say you were inspired to do a thing.
Revelation is something divine and we only use the Word "Revelation" for Prophets.
THE PURPOSE OF THE WAHY
Is to purify us from kufr, shirk and zandaqa as Mentioned in Surah Jumu’ah Verse 2:
He it is Who sent among the unlettered ones a Messenger (Muhammad ﷺ) from among themselves, reciting to them His Verses, purifying them (from the filth of disbelief and polytheism), and teaching them the Book (this Qur'an, Islamic laws and Islamic jurisprudence) and Al-Hikmah (As-Sunnah: legal ways, orders, acts of worship, etc. of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ). And verily, they had been before in mainfest error; (Al-Jumu'ah 62: 2)
Polytheism and disbelief
is kufr, shirk and zandaqa.
The Kitab is the Quran and the Hikmah is the hadith.
The authentic hadith of
the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) is also Wahy.
Verses 3 & 4 in surah Najm are the verses used by the ulema to prove this:
Nor does he speak of (his own) desire. (3) It is only an Inspiration that is inspired. (4) (An-Najm 53: 3-4)
These ayaat prove that the
Authentic Hadith of the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ)
are also Wahy.
So, the way Muhammad (ﷺ) taught you how to pray, fast, perform Hajj and Umrah is all Wahy
and must be obeyed.
Muhammad (ﷺ) doesn't speak from desire, he speaks from wahy.
No Prophet will come after
Muhammad (ﷺ).
But does Wahy continue or
it has stopped?
Wahy continues and Wahy
will continue until Judgement Day.
The evidence for this is in the following hadith:
Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (RA) narrated the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “True dreams are one of the forty-six parts of Prophethood.” [al-Bukhari (6989) and Muslim (2263)]
Wahy continues in the form of a true dream until the Day of Judgement (DOJ)
The dream of a Prophet (ﷺ) is Wahy
When Abraham (‘alayhi salatu wa salam) was commanded to sacrifice his son, the commandment came in the form of a dream:
And, when he (his son) was old enough to walk with him, he said: "O my son! I have seen in a dream that I am slaughtering you (offer you in sacrifice to Allah), so look what you think!" He said: "O my father! Do that which you are commanded, Insha' Allah (if Allah will), you shall find me of As-Sabirin (the patient ones, etc.)." (As-Saffat 37: 102)
The son that Allah
(Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala) speaks of in this Verse is Ismael (‘alayhi salatu wa
salam)
There is a 13 year age gap between Ismael (‘alayhi salatu wa salam) and his younger brother Isaac (‘alayhi salatu wa salam)
Another evidence used by the scholars to prove that the dream of the Prophet (ﷺ) is Wahy is:
Indeed Allah shall fulfil the true vision which He showed to His Messenger (ﷺ) [i.e. the Prophet ﷺ saw a dream that he has entered Makkah along with his companions, having their (head) hair shaved and cut short] in very truth. Certainly, you shall enter Al Masjid al Haram; if Allah wills, secure, (some) having your heads shaved, and (some) having your head hair cut short, having no fear. He knew what you knew not, and He granted besides that a near victory. (Al-Fath 48: 27)
Why did Allah (سبحانه
وتعالىٰ ) say, "Certainly, you shall enter Masjid al Haram’?
Because the dream of the Prophet (ﷺ) is Wahy.
The Prophet (ﷺ) saw himself in a dream getting married to Ayesha (radiyallahu ‘anha) long before the marriage took place:
Narrated By 'Aisha: Allah's Apostle said (to me), "You were shown to me twice in (my) dream. Behold, a man was carrying you in a silken piece of cloth and said to me, "She is your wife, so uncover her,' and behold, it was you. I would then say (to myself), 'If this is from Allah, then it must happen.'"[Sahih Bukhari, Vol 9, Book 87, Hadith #139]
And We inspired the mother of Musa (Moses), (saying) : "Suckle him [Musa (Moses)], but when you fear for him, then cast him into the river and fear not, nor grieve. Verily! We shall bring him back to you, and shall make him one of (Our) Messengers." (Al-Qasas 28: 7)
If a non-Prophet was given a Directive by Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ ), it is called an inspiration as mentioned in the above ayah (see Qasas: 7).
When the shaytan gives you
a directive, it is called instigation.
Revelation, inspiration
and instigation.
You should know the difference, or you could easily become a deviant.
THE SIX TYPES OF WAHY
The Prophet (ﷺ) received six types of Wahy from Allah (سبحانه
وتعالىٰ
).
These six types were mentioned in Quran and Sunnah.
1. THE RINGING OF A BELL
2. THE ANGEL GABRIEL (ﷺ) COMING IN HUMAN FORM
Narrated Aisha: Al Harith bin Hisham asked the Prophet, “How does the divine inspiration come to you?" He replied, “In all these ways: The Angel sometimes comes to me with a voice which resembles the sound of a ringing bell, and when this state abandons me, I remember what the Angel has said, and this type of Divine Inspiration is the hardest on me; and sometimes the Angel comes to me in the shape of a man and talks to me, and I understand and remember what he says.” Bukhari: Vol. 4, Book 54, Hadith 438
The angel Gabriel (Salallahu 'Alayhi wa sallam) came in the form of a very handsome sahabi called, Dihyal Al-Kalbi (radiyallahu ‘anhu)
The Holy Prophet (saw) said: …that was Jibril, peace be upon you, who came down in the form of Dihyah Al-Kalbi.’” Sunan an-Nasa’i: Vol. 6, Book 47, Hadith 4994
3. THE ANGEL COMING IN HIS ANGELIC FORM
What is the complexion
of Angel Gabriel?
It is silver
... Aysha (RA)...But of course, Muhammad (ﷺ) did see Jibril and he saw him in his real appearance only twice, once at the sidrat ul muntaha and the second time at Jiyad, he has six hundred wings that covered the horizon." [Tirmidhi 3289, Ahmed 26099, Bukhari 3234, Muslim 177]
I don't have any evidence
that the Angel appeared in his angelic form in front of the sahabah.
When the Angel came to ask the 5 questions to the Prophet (ﷺ) he came in the form of an Arab.
4. A TRUE DREAM
Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (RA) narrated the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “True dreams are one of the forty-six parts of Prophethood.” [Al-Bukhari (6989) and Muslim (2263)]
When Yusuf (‘alayhi salatu
wa salam) saw the sun and the moon along with 11 stars prostrating to him, that
is Wahy.
His father, Yaqub (‘alayhi
salatu wa salam) was a wise prophet,
He knew the interpretation
of the dream.
He told his son not to tell his brothers the dream:
(Remember) when Yusuf (Joseph) said to his father: "O my father! Verily, I saw (in a dream) eleven stars and the sun and the moon, I saw them prostrating themselves to me." (4) He (the father) said: "O my son! Relate not your vision to your brothers, lest they arrange a plot against you. Verily! Shaitan (Satan) is to man an open enemy! (5) (Yusuf 12: 4-5)
How do you get a true
dream?
Make wudu, recite the Quls
and sleep on your right side.
This maximizes your chances of having a true dream.
5. WHEN A PROPHET SPEAKS TO ALLAH (سبحانه وتعالىٰ ) DIRECTLY
This is done from behind a
veil.
The Veil of Allah (سبحانه
وتعالىٰ
) is Light.
Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ ) spoke about this in surah Baqarah Verse 253:
Those Messengers! We preferred some to others; to some of them Allah spoke (directly); others He raised to degrees (of honour) (Al-Baqarah 2: 253)
Then fifty prayers were enjoined on me. I descended till I met Moses who asked me, 'What have you done?' I said, 'Fifty prayers have been enjoined on me.' He said, 'I know the people better than you, because I had the hardest experience to bring Bani Israel to obedience. Your followers cannot put up with such obligation. So, return to your Lord and request Him (to reduce the number of prayers.' [Sahih Bukhari, Vol 4, Book 54, Hadith #429]
Another example is the above hadith
You can only see Allah (سبحانه
وتعالىٰ
) when you enter paradise
As of now, the Hijab of Allah
(سبحانه وتعالىٰ ) is Light.
The evidence used is in surah Qiyamah Verses 22-23:
Some faces that Day shall be Nadirah (shining and radiant). (22) Looking at their Lord (Allah); (23) (Al-Qiyamah 75: 22-23)
It is narrated on the authority of Abu Dharr: I asked the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him): Did you see thy Lord? He said: He is a light; how could I see Him? [Sahih Muslim, Book 1, Hadith #0341]
The other evidenced is in surah Qaf Verse 35:
There they will have all that they desire, and We have more (for them, i.e. a glance at the All-Mighty, All-Majestic). (Qaf 50: 35)
This is the evidence used by the scholars to say that you will see Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ ) when you enter the Paradise. The ‘extra’ (….and We have more…) here is seeing Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ )
To look at the face of
Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ )
That is called the Mazeed (extra)
6. INSPIRATION IN THE HEART
The scholars say that the
Prophet (ﷺ) was inspired to sign the treaty of Hudabiya,
When he (ﷺ) signed the treaty, Allah (ﷺ) sent the following verse:
Verily, We have given you (O Muhammad ﷺ) a manifest victory. (Al-Fath 48: 1)
Some say the victory here
is the conquest of Khaibar.
Others say it is the
conquest of Makkah but the victory is the treaty itself.
If you have an enemy like
Quraish who can muster a 10,000 strong army to fight you.
Then it is wise to sign a
peace treaty with them and concentrate on the others.
Because it is insanity to
open too many war fronts.
Thus the treaty of
Hudabiya was a victory.
Science Of Qur’an
Part 3
“The History of The Quran's Descent”
How did Allah (سبحانه
وتعالىٰ)
reveal the Qur’an?
The Quran was kept in a
Guarded Tablet in the Heavens.
The Tablet was called Lawhul Mahfoud (The Guarded Tablet).
Lawhul Mahfoud included:
The Qur’an, Psalms of David, Taurah of Moses, Injil. of Jesus (‘alayhim salatu
wa salam).
Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) spoke about It in surah Waqiah Verses 77-79
That (this) is indeed an honourable recital (the Noble Qur'an). (77) In a Book well-guarded (with Allah in the heaven i.e. Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz). (78) Which (that Book with Allah) none can touch but the purified (i.e. the angels). (79) (Al-Waqi'ah 56: 77-79)
Allah (سبحانه
وتعالىٰ)
revealed the Qur’an to a place called Bait ul Izzah:
A place in the 4th Heaven where
there is a Kabbah.
This is the same as Baitul Ma’mur.
By the Mount; (At-Tur 52:
1)
And by the Book
Inscribed. (At-Tur 52: 2)
In parchment unrolled.
(At-Tur 52: 3)
And by the Bait-ul-Ma'mur (the house over the heavens parable to the Ka'bah at Makkah, continuously visited by the angels); (At-Tur 52: 4)
70,000 Angels go to Bait
ul Izzah everyday to perform pilgrimage.
And they don’t return to it again.
Allah (سبحانه
وتعالىٰ)
revealed the Qur’an from the Guarded Tablet to Bait ul Izzah.
Then,
Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) revealed the Quran from Bait ul Izzah to.
the Prophet (ﷺ) in piecemeal over a period of 23 years
(Piecemeal: little by little / bit by bit; not all at once).
The Qur’an was first Revealed to the Prophet (ﷺ) when he was 40 years old, in the cave of Hira, on Layla tul Qadr (the Night of Power).
Majority of the scholars
are of the opinion that Layla tul Qadr is the 27th night of Ramadhan.
But
only Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) Knows for sure if Layla tul Qadr is on the
27th
night of Ramadhan
The reason why the Prophet
(ﷺ) went to the cave was because he used to have
spiritual dreams before the Angel came to him.
These dreams were encouraging him to pursue a life of spirituality.
These spiritual dreams caused him to go to the cave and seclude himself to contemplate.
The Angel first came to
the Prophet (Salallahu 'Alayhi wa sallam) in the cave.
He held something up and told him (Salallahu 'Alayhi wa sallam) to ‘Read’
(Iqra).
The Prophet’s response was
‘I cannot read’ (maa ana bi qari)
The Angel squeezed and
released the Prophet (ﷺ).
But the Prophet (ﷺ) gave the same reply.
The Angel then squeezed the Prophet (ﷺ) for a third time and read the following ayaat from Surah ‘Alaq:
Read! In the Name of your Lord, Who has created (all that exists), (1) Has created man from a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood). (2) Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous, (3) Who has taught (the writing) by the pen [the first person to write was Prophet Idrees (Enoch)], (4) Has taught man that which he knew not. (5) (Al-'Alaq 96: 1-5)
These were the first five Verses of the Holy Quran that Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) Revealed (Alaq: 1-5).
Allah (سبحانه
وتعالىٰ)
also Said He has Taught man by the pen.
Who was the first person to use a pen?
The first person was Prophet Idris (‘alayhi salatu wa salam).
What if you should read a statement from a scholar saying the first surah to be
revealed was Surah Muddathir?
How would you reconcile the two
opinions?
You reconcile them by
saying the first SURAH to be revealed in its complete form was Surah Muddathir.
But the first verses to be revealed were the first 5 verses of Surah Al-‘Alaq.
PLEASE NOTE: Whenever
you should find conflicting opinions from the scholars, always go to a scholar
to reconcile the various opinions, else you will become frustrated
A student of knowledge cannot be impatient, shy or proud.
When the Quran was
first Revealed to the Prophet (ﷺ) He didn't know what had happened to him.
He ran to his wife
Khadija (radiyallahu ‘anha) and told her to cover him
He told her what
happened to him in the cave.
She took him to her
cousin, Waraqa Ibn Naufal, who was a scholar of Jewish and Christian Books.
Waraqa told them that
this angel (Jibril) had also appeared to Moses.
Waraqa informed the
Prophet of his Prophethood and said that he wish he were young and could live
up to the time when the people would drive the Prophet (ﷺ) out.
The Prophet (ﷺ) asked him if they would really drive him out.
He (ﷺ) found this strange because the people
loved and trusted him.
Waraqa said that any man who came with something similar to what the Prophet (ﷺ) has brought was turned against, treated with hostility and driven out:
"Allah's Apostle asked, "Will they drive me out?" Waraqa replied in the affirmative and said, "Anyone (man) who came with something similar to what you have brought was treated with hostility" [Bukhari: Volume 1, Book 1, Number 3]
Waraqa was the first to
acknowledge that Muhammad (ﷺ) had become a Prophet and the hardship he (ﷺ) would face
He was also the first
to express his support when he said that if he should remain alive till the day
when the Prophet was to be driven out he would support him strongly.
This all means that he was the first to realize that Muhammad (ﷺ) was now a Prophet
When the Angel said,
‘Read’
Allah (سبحانه
وتعالىٰ) was fulfilling the Dua of Abraham (‘alayhi salatu wa salam)
The Dua of Abraham (‘alayhi salatu wa salam) can be found in Baqarah Verse 129:
"Our Lord! Send amongst them a Messenger of their own (and indeed Allah Answered their invocation by sending Muhammad Peace be upon him ), who shall recite unto them Your Verses and instruct them in the Book (this Qur'an) and Al-Hikmah (full knowledge of the Islamic laws and jurisprudence or wisdom or Prophethood, etc.), and sanctify them. Verily! You are the All-Mighty, the All-Wise." (Al-Baqarah 2: 129)
After Abraham and his
son Ismael (‘alayhima salatu wa salam) built the kabbah, he made the above dua.
When Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) sent Muhammad (ﷺ), the unlettered prophet, to teach the people the Book, Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) was fulfilling a famous dua made by Abraham.
Muhammad (ﷺ) became a Prophet when the Angel told him to ‘Read!’
The Angel then came to the Prophet (ﷺ) a second time:
"While I was walking, all of a sudden I heard a voice from the sky. I looked up and saw the same angel who had visited me at the cave of Hira' sitting on a chair between the sky and the earth. I got afraid of him and came back home and said, 'Wrap me (in blankets).' And then Allah revealed the following Holy Verses (of Quran): 'O you (i.e. Muhammad)! wrapped up in garments!' Arise and warn (the people against Allah's Punishment),... up to 'and desert the idols.' (74. 1-5) After this the revelation started coming strongly, frequently and regularly." [Bukhari: Volume 1, Book 1, Number 3]
O you (Muhammad ﷺ) enveloped (in garments)! (1) Arise and warn! (2) And your Lord (Allah) magnify! (3) (Al-Muddaththir 74: 1-3)
But when Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) revealed Surah Muddaththir, he became a Messenger because he was told to Arise and Proclaim the message.
WHY DID ALLAH (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) REVEAL THE QURAN IN PIECEMEAL?
1. TO MAKE IT EASY TO MEMORIZE
Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) told us that in the following Quranic verse (54:17)
And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? (Al-Qamar 54: 17)
Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) also made it easy to memorize by revealing it in a rhythmic form: in piecemeal.
2. TO MAKE IT EASY TO UNDERSTAND
3. TO MAKE IT EASY TO PRACTICE
When a person is sick
and is given medicine to help him get cured,
The medicine is always given little by little (in piecemeal).
The Arabs were
spiritually sick.
And Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) Revealed the Quran in piecemeal to make it easy for them.
For example: First
Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) Said the bad is more than the good in
regards to alcohol.
Secondly, Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) said don't come to Salah when you are drunk:
O you who believe! Approach not AsSalat (the prayer) when you are in a drunken state until you know (the meaning) of what you utter,..(An-Nisa 4: 43)
Finally, Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) Said to leave alcohol altogether in Maidah Verse 90. Maidah 90 Makes alcohol Haram.
O you who believe! Intoxicants (all kinds of alcoholic drinks), gambling, AlAnsab, and AlAzlam (arrows for seeking luck or decision) are an abomination of Shaitan's (Satan) handiwork. So avoid (strictly all) that (abomination) in order that you may be successful. (Al-Ma'idah 5: 90)
When this Verse in Ma’idah was revealed, the Muslims completely stopped drinking.
‘Abdullah ibn Umar (RA) reported that Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said, “If anyone drinks wine then his salah over forty days are not approved. If he repents then Allah will relent to him. If he reverts (to it), then Allah will not approve his salah over forty days. If he repents, Allah will relent to him but if he reverts (to it) then Allah will not approve his salah over forty days. If he repents then Allah will relent to him. Again, if he reverts the fourth time, Allah will not approve his salah over forty days and if he repents then Allah will not relent to him and He will give him to drink from the river of Khabal.” Someone asked, “O Abu Abdur Rahman! what is the river of Khabal?’ He said, “The pus of the dwellers of the people of fire.” [Sunan Tirmidhi (4/290) No. 1862, Sunan Nasa'i (8/317) No. 5670, Musnad Ahmad (2/35) No. 4917, al-Mu’jam al-Kabir al-Tabarani (12/390) No. 13441]
These people were
addicted to alcohol and zina.
This is just one example of the Qur’an being revealed in piecemeal to make it easy for people to practice.
“…When the people embraced Islam, the Verses regarding legal and illegal things were revealed. If the first thing to be revealed was: 'Do not drink alcoholic drinks.' people would have said, 'We will never leave alcoholic drinks,' and if there had been revealed, 'Do not commit illegal sexual intercourse, 'they would have said, 'We will never give up illegal sexual intercourse.' [Sahih Bukhari, Vol 6, Book 61, Hadith #515]
4. TO CLARIFY A DILEMMA OF THE PROPHET (ﷺ)
It is like when one is leading a group of people and has reached a crossroad but unsure which avenue to take.
An example of this is
when Ayesha (radiyallahu ‘anha) was accused of having an affair
He (ﷺ) did not know who to believe or how to prove whether she was
innocent or guilty
So he asked people like
Burairah, Ali, Zaid, Zainab bint Jash (radiyallahu ‘anhum)
Astonishingly, even
though Zainab bint Jash was Aysha’s co-wife and biggest revival for Muhammad (ﷺ)’s attention, she did not lie and take sides with the
hypocrites against her co-wife.
Instead she spoke the truth.
These women are Mothers of the Believers, women of Taqwa and their character matched their title.
Aisha further said: Allah's Apostle also asked Zainab bint Jaysh about my case. He said, "O Zainab! What have you seen?" She replied, "O Allah's Apostle! I protect my hearing and my sight (by refraining from telling lies). I know nothing but good (about Aisha)." Of all the wives of Allah's Apostle, it was Zainab who aspired to receive from him the same favor as I used to receive, yet, Allah saved her (from telling lies) because of her piety. But her sister, Hamna, kept on fighting on her behalf so she was destroyed as were those who invented and spread the slander. [Sahih Bukhari, Vol 6, Book 60, Hadith #274]
Allah (ﷺ) then Revealed the ayah in surah Nur proclaiming Aysha’s innocence:
Verily! Those who brought forth the slander (against 'Aishah the wife of the Prophet ﷺ) are a group among you. Consider it not a bad thing for you. Nay, it is good for you. Unto every man among them will be paid that which he had earned of the sin, and as for him among them who had the greater share therein, his will be a great torment. (An-Nur 24: 11)
Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) Called the rumour an ‘Ifk’ (a lie) in the above ayah.
Some women of today
would gang up with the hypocrites to oust out their co-wives.
But Zainab bint Jalsh (radiyallahu ‘anha) did not do this, she was a pious believer.
5. TO CORRECT THE MISTAKES OF THE PROPHET (ﷺ)
If a shia was in the
room he would say, "Fear Allah"
What do you mean the
Prophet (ﷺ) made mistakes?
Because they believe a
man can be infallible and perfect
This is what they believe about their imams
An example of a mistake made by the Prophet is 80: 1 - 2
(The Prophet (Peace be upon him)) frowned and turned away, ('Abasa 80: 1)
Because there came to him the blind man (i.e. Abdullah bin Umm-Maktum, who came to the Prophet (Peace be upon him) while he was preaching to one or some of the Quraish chiefs). ('Abasa 80: 2)
A Shia will put a spin
on this ayah when shown the ayah.
He will say it was not Muhammad (ﷺ) who frowned but it was Abu Jahl who frowned.
Another example is when the Prophet (ﷺ) took captives in the battle of Badr. This was a noted mistake.
It is not for a Prophet that he should have prisoners of war (and free them with ransom) until he had made a great slaughter (among his enemies) in the land. You desire the good of this world (i.e. the money of ransom for freeing the captives), but Allah desires (for you) the Hereafter. And Allah is All-Mighty, All-Wise. (Al-Anfal 8: 67)
To have captives slows
you down.
You have to feed them
and watch over them,
You are not suppose to take captives in battle but you should kill them.
The Messenger of Allah
(ﷺ) said to Abu Bakr and 'Umar (Allah be
pleased with them): What is your opinion about these captives? Abu Bakr said:
They are our kith and kin. I think you should release them after getting from
them a ransom. This will be a source of strength to us against the infidels. It
is quite possible that Allah may guide them to Islam. Then the Messenger of
Allah (ﷺ) said: What is your opinion. Ibn Khattab?
He said: Messenger of Allah. I do not hold the same opinion as Abu Bakr. I am
of the opinion that you should hand them over to us so that we may cut off
their heads. Hand over 'Aqil to 'Ali that he may cut off his head, and hand
over such and such relative to me that I may but off his head. They are leaders
of the disbelievers and veterans among them. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) approved the opinion of Abu Bakr and did not approve what I
said.
The next day when I came to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), I found that both he and Abu Bakr were sitting shedding tears. I said: Messenger of Allah, why are you and your Companion shedding tears? Tell me the reason. For I will weep too, if not, I will at least pretend to weep in sympathy with you. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: I weep for what has happened to your companions for taking ransom (from the prisoners). I was shown the torture to which they were subjected. It was brought to me as close as this tree. (He pointed to a tree close to him.) Then God revealed the verse:" It is not befitting for a prophet that he should take prisoners until the force of the disbelievers has been crushed..." to the end of the verse:" so eat ye the spoils of war, (it is) lawful and pure. So Allah made booty lawful for them." [Sahih Muslim (3/1383-1385) No. 1763]
The Prophet (ﷺ) and Abu Bakr (radiyallahu ‘anhu) were crying when Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) Revealed this Ayah (Anfal: 67)
One of the captives
asked Muhammad (ﷺ) to set him free claiming that he was poor
and had daughters.
So he (ﷺ) did so and he promised not to fight him again
But after being set free the man came back and killed some sahabah at the
Battle of Uhud
It's up to you if you
want to believe a kaafir when he gives his word
You don’t know the
unseen and neither did the prophet (ﷺ)
Just remember, Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) Himself Said to the prophet (ﷺ) to tell the people he doesn’t have the knowledge of the unseen.
Say (O Muhammad ﷺ): "I possess no power of benefit or hurt to myself except as Allah wills. If I had the knowledge of the Ghaib (unseen), I should have secured for myself an abundance of wealth, and no evil should have touched me. I am but a warner, and a bringer of glad tidings unto people who believe." (Al-A'raf 7: 188)
‘..Allah knows while ye know not.’ (Baqarah: 216)
A third example of Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) Correcting the Prophet (ﷺ) is in surah Tahrim ayah 1.
Narrated By 'Aisha: The Prophet used to stay (for a period) in the house of Zainab bint Jahsh (one of the wives of the Prophet) and he used to drink honey in her house. Hafsa and I decided that when the Prophet entered upon either of us, she would say, "I smell in you the bad smell of Maghafir (a bad smelling raisin). Have you eaten Maghafir?" When he entered upon one of us, she said that to him. He replied (to her), "No, but I have drunk honey in the house of Zainab bint Jahsh, and I will never drink it again." Then the following verse was revealed: 'O Prophet ! Why do you ban (for you) that which Allah has made lawful for you?... (up to) If you two (wives of the Prophet turn in repentance to Allah.' (66.1-4) The two were 'Aisha and Hafsa And also the Statement of Allah: 'And (Remember) when the Prophet disclosed a matter in confidence to one of his wives!' (66.3) i.e., his saying, “ ut I have drunk honey." [al-Bukhari (5267) and Muslim (1474)]
As mentioned in the
above hadith, the Prophet (ﷺ) said he would never drink honey again
That was a big mistake that Allah (ﷺ) Corrected in the first verse of surah Tahrim.
O Prophet! Why do you ban (for yourself) that which Allah has made lawful to you, seeking to please your wives? And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. (At-Tahrim 66: 1)
Honey is very important
For
the Prophet (ﷺ) to say that he would never drink honey
again was a big mistake.
Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) Revealed this Ayah to correct this
mistake of the Prophet (ﷺ),
because you cannot make Haram what Allah (سبحانه
وتعالىٰ) has made Halal in order to please your wives.
Also, Honey has been
ordained for Mankind because of its healing properties.
The Prophet (ﷺ) was an example for mankind,
If
he were to stop drinking honey his followers would stop drinking it too.
‘Indeed in the Messenger of Allah (Muhammad ﷺ) you have a good example’ (Ahzab: 21)
6. TO STRENGTHEN THE IMAN OF THE PROPHET (ﷺ)
When he (ﷺ) went to al Israa wal miraj.
Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) Revealed Baqarah Verse 286 in the 7th Heaven.
Allah burdens not a person beyond his scope. He gets reward for that (good) which he has earned, and he is punished for that (evil) which he has earned. "Our Lord! Punish us not if we forget or fall into error, our Lord! Lay not on us a burden like that which You did lay on those before us (Jews and Christians); our Lord! Put not on us a burden greater than we have strength to bear. Pardon us and grant us Forgiveness. Have mercy on us. You are our Maula (Patron, Suppor-ter and Protector, etc.) and give us victory over the disbelieving people." (Al-Baqarah 2: 286)
7. THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE SHARIAH
When Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) made alcohol forbidden, it was for the development of the shariah.
8. FOR SOME OF THE VERSES OF THE QURAN TO BE ABROGATED
Some believe that no
Verses were abrogated.
They will tell you to
fear Allah سبحانه وتعالىٰ because Allah doesn't Change His Mind.
In response one must
ask them whether they believe we can still drink alcohol?
Whether the 43rd ayah in surah
Nisa is still relevant?
People who believe that none of the verses in the Qur’an were abrogated live a very conflicting lifestyle and still drink alcohol:
O you who believe! Approach not As Salat (the prayer) when you are in a drunken state until you know (the meaning) of what you utter, (An-Nisa 4: 43)
Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) even told us in the Qur’an that some Verses were abrogated, so how can you make such a claim:
Whatever a Verse (revelation) do We abrogate or cause to be forgotten, We bring a better one or similar to it. Know you not that Allah is able to do all things? (Al-Baqarah 2: 106)
There are different
types of abrogation that we will cover in a separate sitting.
There are some types
that are abrogated by words but the hukum remains (vice versa).
For example, in surah Nisa.
Ayah 15 in Surah Nisa
was abrogated.
In the early days of Islam, the punishment was house arrest for the fornicator until she dies.
And those of your women who commit illegal sexual intercourse, take the evidence of four witnesses from amongst you against them; and if they testify, confine them (i.e. women) to houses until death comes to them or Allah Ordains for them some (other) way. (An-Nisa 4: 15)
The new ruling is not house arrest; surah Nur Verse 2 abrogated Nisa 15:
The woman and the man guilty of illegal sexual intercourse, flog each of them with a hundred stripes. Let not pity withhold you in their case, in a punishment prescribed by Allah, if you believe in Allah and the Last Day. And let a party of the believers witness their punishment. (This punishment is for unmarried persons guilty of the above crime but if married persons commit it, the punishment is to stone them to death, according to Allah's Law). (An-Nur 24: 2)
The new ruling is 100 lashes.
THE CLAIM OF THE SHIAS
As a side point we will
touch on the claim that Shias make claiming that the Quran is a corrupted text.
They say this because a goat ate a page of the Qur’an:
The verse of stoning and of suckling an adult ten times were revealed, and they were (written) on a paper and kept under my bed. When the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) expired and we were preoccupied with his death, a goat entered and ate away the paper." [(Sunan Ibn Maja, Volume 2, Page 39) (Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal, Volume 6, Page 269)]
You should know how to silence such an evil belief if you are ever faced with this flawed argument. The mischief makers rely on your ignorance to corrupt you.
First, is the ayah 106 in Surah Baqarah when Allah Says, ‘Whatever a Verse (revelation) do We abrogate or cause to be forgotten..’ (Baqarah: 106)
There are different
types of abrogation, and verse that the shias use was one that was abrogated by
recitation.
It was inconsequential.
Even though the Quran was memorized, it was caused to be forgotten
Hence
not recorded because the ruling was inapplicable.
The
ayah that the goat ate was an already abrogated ayah.
Previously, in order for a child to be someone’s milk-child (i.e. mahrem to her
& her children) the baby has to suckle the woman’s breast 10 times; this
Rule was changed to 5 times.
The milk of a woman
belongs to her husband.
Meaning, if the child is a girl your husband becomes mahrem to her.
Secondly, making such a malicious claim – that the Quran is corrupt – refutes many other ayaats promising that the Quran is Kept guarded, for example:
Surely, We have revealed the 'Zhikr' (Quran), and surely, We will Preserve it (Hijr: 9)
Falsehood cannot approach it from before it or from behind it; [it is] a revelation from a [Lord who is] Wise and Praiseworthy. (Fussilat: 42)
Their argument is a flawed argument and a prime example of how rejecting one ayah in the Quran contradicts your whole identity and leads you to a conflicting life.
What we have today is a Guarded and Complete Book and the Quran was revealed to us in piecemeal in order for some Verses of the Quran to be abrogated.
Science Of Quran - Part 4 - The 20 Reasons Why The Qur’an Is A Wise Book.
In Surah 36:1-2 Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) says:
This book "The Qur’an" is full of wisdom.
Ya-Sin. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Qur'an, and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings.] (1) By the Qur'an, full of wisdom (i.e. full of laws, evidences, and proofs),(2) (Ya-Sin 36:1-2)
The question that comes
to mind is:
What are the reasons why the Quran was described as a wise book?
1. ALLAH (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) IS THE AUTHOR OF THE QURAN
Because of this, it is
a wise book
Allah (سبحانه
وتعالىٰ) is The Greatest Scholar
One of His Names and Attributes is Al Hakim – The Wise
2. THE QURAN AGREES WITH MODERN DAY SCIENCE
It is impossible for a
person to find a Qur’anic verse that contradicts science.
An example is, the sun runs a course which is set for it.
Another example is
96:16.
Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) speaks about your lying sinful forelock.
A lying, sinful forelock! (Al-'Alaq 96:16)
Whenever a man wants to lie, he uses his front lobe of the brain to do so.
Another example is 55:19-21
He has let loosed the two seas (the salt water and the sweet) meeting together. (19) Between them is a barrier which none of them can transgress. (20) Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny?(21) (Ar-Rahman 55:19-21)
The Quran is Allah's (سبحانه
وتعالىٰ) revelation.
Science is Allah's (سبحانه
وتعالىٰ) creation.
And Allah's (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) revelation doesn't contradict His creation.
Another example is:
31:10.
This is another scientific fact.
He has created the heavens without any pillars, that you see and has set on the earth firm mountains, lest it should shake with you. And He has scattered therein moving (living) creatures of all kinds. And We send down water (rain) from the sky, and We cause (plants) of every goodly kind to grow therein. (Luqman 31:10)
Another example is 25:61
Blessed be He Who has placed in the heaven big stars, and has placed therein a great lamp (sun), and a moon giving light. (Al-Furqan 25:61)
Why does Allah (سبحانه
وتعالىٰ) refer to the Sun as a lamp.
But He never referred
to the moon as a lamp?
Because the moon doesn't
produce its own light and heat but the sun does
The moon is just a
reflector.
This is why Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) didn't refer to the moon as a lamp.
Another example is 30:1-4
Alif Lam Mim. [These
letters are one of the miracles of the Qur'an, and none but Allah (Alone) knows
their meanings]. (1) The Romans have been defeated. (2)
In the nearer land (Syria, Iraq, Jordan, and Palestine), and they, after their defeat, will be victorious.(3) (Ar-Rum 30:1-3)
The Arabic word ‘Adna’
translated as ‘nearest’ can also be translated as ‘lowest‘
The Lowest land here is
Jordan.
This is a scientific
fact.
The land where the battle was fought is the lowest point on earth.
Within three to nine years. The decision of the matter, before and after (these events) is only with Allah, (before the defeat of Romans by the Persians, and after, i.e. the defeat of the Persians by the Romans). And on that Day, the believers (i.e. Muslims) will rejoice (at the victory given by Allah to the Romans against the Persians), (Ar-Rum 30:4)
Narrated Abu Sa'eed: "On the Day of (the battle of) Badr, the Romans had a victory over the Persians. So the believers were pleased with that, then the following was revealed: Alif Lam Mim. The Romans have been defeated..." up to His saying: '...the believers will rejoice. (30:1-4)" He said: "So the believers were happy with the victory of the Romans over the Persians. (Jami At Tirmdhi: (1/43) Hadith 2935)
Another scientific fact is 21:30
Have not those who disbelieve known that the heavens and the earth were joined together as one united piece, then We parted them? And We have made from water every living thing. Will they not then believe? (Al-Anbiya 21:30)
This ayah is talking about two things:
1. The big bang because
Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) says we split them apart
Them here means the
heavens and the earth.
They used to be one
unit.
Allah (سبحانه
وتعالىٰ) created the bang.
But the atheist try to say the bang came about by itself.
2. Allah (سبحانه
وتعالىٰ) created every living thing from water
When you read the
Qur’an, Allah says "O you who believe"
But this time, Allah (سبحانه
وتعالىٰ) is speaking to the unbelievers.
Because the unbelievers
have made science their religion.
So Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) taught them science using the Qur’an.
There is a section of
the bible which Christians are embarrassed about.
This verse says the rabbit chew its cud.
And the hare, because he cheweth the cud, but divideth not the hoof; he is unclean unto you. [Leviticus 11:6 King James Version (KJV)]
The only animals that
do this are those that have their stomachs. Compartmentalised.
Like the cow and the
goat.
But the Christians say
the rabbit poos and eats it.
That is what is meant
by "the rabbit chew its cud"
This bible verse have made many Christians to become atheist.
3. BECAUSE THE QURAN RESEMBLES THE QURAN
The Qur’an did not check-mate the Qur’an.
Allah has sent down the best statement, a Book (this Qur'an), its parts resembling each other in goodness and truth, oft-repeated. The skins of those who fear their Lord shiver from it (when they recite it or hear it). Then their skin and their heart soften to the remembrance of Allah. That is the guidance of Allah. He Guides therewith whom He pleases and whomever Allah sends astray, for him there is no guide. (Az-Zumar 39:23)
Allah (سبحانه
وتعالىٰ) has revealed the best hadith
Hadith means a speech
Its parts resemble each
other
The Qur’an did not contradict the Qur’an
Jabir ibn Abdullah (RA) narrated the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said in the Jumu’ah khutbah: "...To proceed. The best of the speech is embodied in the Book of Allah, and the best of the guidance is the guidance given by Muhammad. And the most evil affairs are their innovations; and every innovation is error..." [Sahih Muslim (2/592) No. 867]
However there are many
contradictions in the bible.
An example is Numbers 23:19.
God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good? [Numbers 23:19King James Version (KJV)]
God is not a man,
therefore He cannot repent.
This above verse
contradicts the Bible verse Genesis 6:6
The Christians are embarrassed about this also
And it repented the Lord that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart. [Genesis 6:6King James Version (KJV)]
Do you see the clear
contradiction?
Use these to debate
with the kuffaar.
The former says God
doesn’t repent because He is not a man.
And the latter says He repented.
4. SOME SURAHS WERE REVEALED IN MAKKAH AND OTHERS WERE REVEALED IN MADINAH
The Makka Surahs
focused on Tawheed.
The Madinan Surahs
focused on Shariah.
You should invite
people to Islam using Tawheed first.
The hadith below shows you how to make dawah.
Narrated By Ibn Abbas: When the Prophet sent Muadh to Yemen, he said to him, "You are going to a nation from the people of the Scripture, so let the first thing to which you will invite them, be the Tauhid of Allah. If they learn that, tell them that Allah has enjoined on them, five prayers to be offered in one day and one night. And if they pray, tell them that Allah has enjoined on them Zakat of their properties and it is to be taken from the rich among them and given to the poor. And if they agree to that, then take from them Zakat but avoid the best property of the people." [Sahih Bukhari, Vol 9, Book 93, Hadith #469] BukharI (9/90) Hadith: 7372)
Get the people to love Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ), than they will obey Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) automatically.
So you have to build
the Tauheed in the hearts.
And they will submit to the sharia.
5. THE QUR’AN ABROGATES
ALL OF THE PREVIOUS BOOKS
Don't preach me the
Shariah of Musa (‘alayhi salatu wa salam).
I'm only interested in
the Shariah of Muhammad (ﷺ).
Because when the Prophet (ﷺ) saw Umar (radiyallahu ‘anhu) reading the Torah, he got angry.
It was reported that the Prophet (ﷺ) became angry when he saw that ‘Umar had a page with something from the Torah written on it, and he (ﷺ) said: “Are you in doubt, O son of al-Khattab? Have I not brought you something shining and pure? If my brother Musa were alive, he would have no choice but to follow me.” [Musnad Ahmad (3/387) No. 15195 and Sunan al-Darime (1/126) No. 435]
The Shariah of Muhammad
(ﷺ) is mercy.
More merciful than the
Shariah of Musa (‘alayhi salatu wa salam).
The Shariah of Musa
(‘alayhi salatu wa salam) said some things in the sea were haram.
But the Rasool (ﷺ) said everything in the sea is halal.
Abu Huraira reported that a man asked the Prophet (ﷺ): 'We travel in the sea and we carry with us little water. If we used it for wudu then we would be suffering thirst! So should we still use this water for wudu?' The Prophet (SAW) replied: "Its [sea] water is pure and its dead meat [fish and whatever lives in sea and die by leaving it] is Halal to eat" [Sunan Tirmidhi (1/100) No. 69, Sunan Abu Dawud (1/21) No. 83, Sunan al-Nasa'i (1/50) No. 59, Sunan Ibn Majah (1/250) No. 386, Sunan al-Darime (1/201) No. 729, Musnad Ahmad (2/361) No. 8720]
This is our Shariah.
"Sometime we may carry a little water with us in the ship while at sea; if we use the water we may get thirsty. Can we use the sea water for purification?" The Prophet said: "Its water is pure and its carrion is lawful" (Tirmidhi)
Some scholars say the
sea snake is haram.
But Uthaymeen allows
you to eat sea snake and salt water crocodile.
Hanafi fiqh says eating crab is makrooh as well as the shrimp and lobster.
Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen (may Allaah have mercy on him) said, after stating that it is more likely that it is permissible to eat crocodiles and sea snakes: The correct view is that nothing is excluded from that, and that all the sea creatures which can only live in water are halaal, alive or dead, because of the general meaning of the verse – i.e., “Lawful to you is (the pursuit of) water game and its use for food” [al-Maa’idah 5:64]. End quote from al-Sharh al-Mumti’ (6/327)
Because they say these
things are scavengers.
But the Maliki and the Hanbali opinion says everything in the sea is halal because of:
6. THE QUR’AN IS SUITABLE FOR ALL TIMES
Because of this, Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) says 5:3
This day, I have perfected your religion for you, completed My Favour upon you, and have chosen for you Islam as your religion. (Al-Ma'idah 5:3)
The Qur’an cannot become obsolete.
7. BECAUSE THE QURAN WAS REVEALED IN THE BEST LANGUAGE
Arabic is the Sunnah of Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ).
Verily, We have sent it down as an Arabic Qur'an in order that you may understand. (Yusuf 12:2)
Why? Because Allah (سبحانه
وتعالىٰ) chose to reveal the Quran in Arabic
Allah (سبحانه
وتعالىٰ) has revealed The Most Sacred Book – Qur’an
With His closest Angel
– Gibril (‘alayhi salatu wa salam)
To His favorite Prophet
– Muhammad (ﷺ)
In the best language -
Arabic
In the most sacred
month - Ramadan
In the holiest city - Makkah
Arabic is a proper
language.
English is not.
English is called a
pigeon language.
In English, you can
play with words.
Because of this, Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) said the Qur’an was revealed in Arabic so you can learn it properly.
Imam Shafi'i (rh) said: "Every Muslim is obligated to learn the Arabic tongue to the utmost of his power in order [to be able] to profess through it that "There is no Ilah but Allah and Muhammad is His Messenger" and to utter what is mandated upon him, the takbir, and what is commanded, the tasbih, and the tashahhud and others." [al-Risala al-Shafi'i (pg. 47)]
Ibn Taymiyyah said: "Moreover, the Arabic language itself is part of Islam, and knowing Arabic is an obligatory duty. If it is a duty to understand the Qur’an and Sunnah, and they cannot be understood without knowing Arabic, then the means that is needed to fulfil the duty is also obligatory.” [Iqtida' as-Sirat al-Mustaqeem (1/527)]
The Arabic language is your deen.
According to a hadith narrated from ’Umar (RA), he said: ("Learn Arabic for it is part of your Religion, and learn how the estate of the deceased should be divided (faraa‘id) for these are part of your Religion."). This command of ’Umar, to learn Arabic and the Sharee’ah combines the things that are needed, for Religion involves understanding words and actions. Understanding Arabic is the way to understand the words of Islâm, and understanding the Sunnah is the way to understand the actions of Islâm…" [Ibn Taymiyyah in 'Iqtida' as-Sirat al-Mustaqeem' (1/527-528]
Ibn Taymiyyah said: “As for becoming accustomed to talking to one another in a language other than Arabic, which is the symbol of Islam and the language of the Qur’aan, so that this becomes a habit in the land, with one’s family and household members, with one’s friends, in the marketplace, when addressing government representatives or authority figures or when speaking to people of knowledge, undoubtedly this is makrooh (disliked), because it involves being like the non-Arabs, which is makrooh, as stated previously. Hence when the early Muslims went to live in Syria and Egypt, where the people spoke Byzantine Greek, and in Iraq and Khurasaan, where the people spoke Farsi, and the Maghrib (North Africa) where the people spoke Berber, they taught the people of those countries to speak Arabic, so that Arabic became the prevalent language in those lands, and all the people, Muslim and kaafir alike, spoke Arabic. Such was also the case in Khurasaan in the past, then they became lax with regard to the language and got used to speaking Farsi until it became prevalent and Arabic was forgotten by most of them. Undoubtedly this is makrooh. [Iqtida' as-Sirat al-Mustaqeem (1/526-528)]
When you speak English,
it makes you become a hypocrite.
Don’t you see how the
English speaking Shaikhs speak kufr.
Because the English
language has destroyed them.
Most of them believe in
Democracy and condemn the Dowla.
The only ones who
didn't speak kufr is Anwar al-Awlaki (rahimahullah).
And Shaikh Musa Ahmad
Jibril (hafidhahullah) but the rest speak kufr.
Some believe in gay
marriage and believe Jesus was crucified.
And say you can pray to
Muhammad (Salallahu 'Alayhi wa sallam).
You wonder if they believe in the Qur’an.
8. THE QURAN HAS ACCURATE PREDICTIONS
These are called prophecies of the Qur’an.
Perish the two hands of Abu Lahab (an uncle of the Prophet), and perish he! (Al-Masad 111:1)
If you were living in
the time of the Prophet (ﷺ),
and you heard this surah come down and approached Abu Lahab to give him. dawah,
you are a kaafir.
Because Allah (سبحانه
وتعالىٰ) predicted that he would die a kafir.
So you giving him dawah
means you are saying that you can change his heart.
And so his ending.
Another prediction is 74:26
Allah (سبحانه
وتعالىٰ) is saying Al Waleed was going to die a kaafir.
He was jealous of the
Prophet (سبحانه وتعالىٰ).
He plotted a meeting to
slander his (Salallahu 'Alayhi wa sallam)’s name.
Telling everyone Muhammad (ﷺ) was practicing black magic.
I will cast him into Hell-fire (Al-Muddaththir 74:26)
Another example is 10:90-92
And We took the Children of Israel across the sea, and Fir'aun (Pharaoh) with his hosts followed them in oppression and enmity, till when drowning overtook him, he said: "I believe that La ilaha illa (Huwa) : (none has the right to be worshipped but) He," in Whom the Children of Israel believe, and I am one of the Muslims (those who submit to Allah's Will)." (90) Now (you believe) while you refused to believe before and you were one of the Mufsidun (evil-doers, corrupts, etc.). (91) So this day We shall deliver your (dead) body (out from the sea) that you may be a sign to those who come after you! And verily, many among mankind are heedless of Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs , revelations, etc.).(92) (Yunus 10:90-92)
The body of the Pharaoh
was on the ocean floor for 3,000 years until it was discovered.
Allah (سبحانه
وتعالىٰ) predicted this.
His body did not
decompose
Maurice Baucali became Muslim because of this verse.
THE BIBBLE, QURAN, AND
SCIENCE:
He wrote the book "The Bible, Qur’an and Science" after becoming Muslim.
9. THE QURAN IS FREE FROM GRAMMATICAL ERRORS
Muhammad (ﷺ) was illiterate and could not write the Qur’an.
He was right handed.
Neither did you (O Muhammad ﷺ) read any book before it (this Qur'an), nor did you write any book (whatsoever) with your right hand. In that case, indeed, the followers of falsehood might have doubted. (Al-'Ankabut 29:48)
10. THE QURAN DOESN'T PLACE ON YOU A BURDEN GREATER THAN YOU CAN BEAR
Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) says in 2:286
Allah burdens not a person beyond his scope. He gets reward for that (good) which he has earned, and he is punished for that (evil) which he has earned… (Al-Baqarah 2:286)
For example:
You don't have to fast
if you are pregnant or breast feeding, and you don't have to make it up.
All you have to do is
give away £100 in charity or $150 for each Ramadan.
Even though the four
great Imams say you should make it up.
They got it wrong.
What I'm saying is very
controversial.
Pregnant women don't
make up Ramadan.
You make up Ramadan because of menstruation.
Ibn Abbas (radiyallahu ‘anhuma) used to get his women pregnant and did not make them make it up.
"Ibn 'Abbas used to say to his wives who were pregnant: 'You are in the same situation as those who can fast [but do not]. You are to pay the "ransom" and do not have to make up the days later.' “Of its chain, ad-Daraqutni says it is sahih. Fiqh-us-Sunnah 3.115
This scholar,
Ad-Daraqutni was an Iraqi scholar.
He was from a section
of the city that sold cotton cloth.
When they were digging the ditch, a man said to the prophet (ﷺ) ‘look at me I'm so hungry I have a rock tied to my stomach’ he responded that he had two tied to his stomach.
Abu Talhah (RA) narrated: We complained to Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) about our hunger and raising from our stomach (the garment) bared the stone each of us had tied to it. He showed that he had two stones (tied to his stomach.) [Sunan Tirmidhi (4/585) No. 2371, Bayhaqi in ‘Shu'ab al Emaan’ (13/54) No. 9943]
This proves to you that
the Prophet (ﷺ) suffered just like you
Allah (سبحانه
وتعالىٰ) sent a man to be the Prophet because if He had sent an Angel,
you would have used it as an argument on Day Of Judgement.
You would have complained the Angel was stronger than man.
11. IT COINCIDES WITH ALL OF YOUR NATURAL INSTINCTS
Communism failed
because it goes against your natural instincts, as well as democracy.
The society is melting
down because it is batil.
Look at what is happening in Baltimore.
And say: "Truth (i.e. Islamic Monotheism or this Qur'an or Jihad against polytheists) has come and Batil (falsehood, i.e. Satan or polytheism, etc.) has vanished. Surely! Batil is ever bound to vanish." (Al-Isra 17:81)
Do you think the
demonstration is going to be restricted to Baltimore?
They are killing the
black man all over the US.
They bring brooms to clean
the streets of Baltimore.
They need to clean
their hearts of kufr and racism.
There are a lot of
black people in Saudi
So why aren't the
whites killing the blacks there?
Because it shows the
superiority of the religion.
Some Saudis are Syrian
origin others are Nigerian origin.
In the US, the Bible
belt like Texas has the most racist people.
So Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) said in 30:30:
So set you (O Muhammad ﷺ) your face towards the religion of pure Islamic Monotheism Hanifa (worship none but Allah Alone) Allah's Fitrah (i.e. Allah's Islamic Monotheism), with which He has created mankind. No change let there be in Khalqillah (i.e. the Religion of Allah Islamic Monotheism), that is the straight religion, but most of men know not. [Tafsir At Tabari, Vol 21, Page 41] (Ar-Rum 30:30)
Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) knows you love wealth, so Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) has made trading halal and Riba haram for you.
…whereas Allah has permitted trading and forbidden Riba (usury). (Al-Baqarah 2:275)
Communism failed
because they say everything is owned by the state and everyone is equal.
Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) knows you love women, so Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) allows you to get married to 4 women.
And if you fear that you shall not be able to deal justly with the orphanages, then marry (other) women of your choice, two or three, or four but if you fear that you shall not be able to deal justly (with them), then only one (An-Nisa 4:3)
12. ALLAH (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) HAS MADE THE QURAN EASY TO UNDERSTAND AND MEMORIZE
And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? (Al-Qamar 54:17)
13. ALLAH (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) REVEALED THE QURAN GRADUALLY TO MAKE IT EASY TO PRACTICE
An example is the process He (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) took to make khumr haram
1. Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) appealed to their rationale:
They ask you (O Muhammad) concerning alcoholic drink and gambling. Say: "In them is a great sin, and (some) benefit for men, but the sin of them is greater than their benefit." And they ask you what they ought to spend. Say: "That which is beyond your needs." Thus Allah makes clear to you His Laws in order that you may give thought." (Al-Baqarah 2:219)
2. The second verse that came down about khumr was 4:43
O you who believe! Approach not AsSalat (the prayer) when you are in a drunken state until you know (the meaning) of what you utter,. (An-Nisa 4:43)
When this ayah came
down the Sahabah were still drinking.
Because Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) didn't make alcohol haram yet.
3. 5:90-91 came next to make it haram
(Al-Ma'idah 5:90)
That is when the Sahabah stopped drinking totally.
Shaitan (Satan) wants only to excite enmity and hatred between you with intoxicants (alcoholic drinks) and gambling, and hinder you from the remembrance of Allah and from As-Salat (the prayer). So, will you not then abstain? (Al-Ma'idah 5:91)
Then Allah (سبحانه
وتعالىٰ) elaborated.
People on drugs, miss
their prayers.
Even if you are on soft drugs, it makes you miss your prayers.
14. TO SOLVE PROBLEMS AND DILEMMAS OF THE RASOOL (ﷺ)
When Ayesha
(radiyallahu ‘anha) was slandered.
The Prophet (ﷺ) didn't know what to believe.
He asked many in order
to know what to conclude on.
Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) said she didn't have an affair.
Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) said the people told a big lie (Ifk).
Prophet Nuh and Lut
(‘alayhima salatu wa salam) had kaafir wives.
So it is possible for a wife of a Prophet to have an affair.
Verily! Those who brought forth the slander (against 'Aishah the wife of the Prophet SAW) are a group among you. Consider it not a bad thing for you. Nay, it is good for you. Unto every man among them will be paid that which he had earned of the sin, and as for him among them who had the greater share therein, his will be a great torment. (An-Nur 24:11)
But Ayesha (radiyallahu ‘anha) didn't have an affair, because Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) revealed her innocence in the above ayah.
The Prophet (ﷺ) approached Zaynab bint Jahsh (radiyallahu ‘anha) about the
affair.
Zaynab said she only
knows good about Ayesha (radiyallahu ‘anha).
She protected her co-wife because of her taqwa, she was saved.
On the authority of Suhail bin Abi Saleh from his father: ‘A man once asked Abu Hurayrah (RA), ‘What is al taqwa?” He replied, “Have you ever taken a path filled with thorns?” The man replied, “I have.” Abu Hurayrah asked him, “What did you do?” He replied, “When I saw a thorn I would dodge it or pass over it or behind it.” Abu Hurayrah said, “That is al-taqwa.”’ [Al-Zuhd al-Kabir al-Bayhaqi (p350-351) No. 963]
So she will be
remembered in history as the wife who defended her co-wife.
A woman of today would
have said "divorce her, she's not a good wife, divorce her".
She would have taken
the opportunity to destroy her.
But not all women of today are like this but some of them.
They would gang up with
the hypocrites against their co-wife.
Zaynab (radiyallahu
‘anha) had taqwa.
That is why they are the Mothers of Believers.
15. THE QUR’AN WAS REVEALED TO CORRECT THE MISTAKES OF THE PROPHET (ﷺ)
A Shia would say
"fear Allah"
You slander the Prophet
(ﷺ).
He didn't make any
mistakes.
But he did make
mistakes.
The first mistake is he took captives at battle.
(Al-Anfal 8:67)
Also described in the below hadith:
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said to Abu Bakr and 'Umar (Allah be pleased with them): What is your opinion about these captives? Abu Bakr said: They are our kith and kin. I think you should release them after getting from them a ransom. This will be a source of strength to us against the infidels. It is quite possible that Allah may guide them to Islam. Then the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: What is your opinion. Ibn Khattab? He said: Messenger of Allah. I do not hold the same opinion as Abu Bakr. I am of the opinion that you should hand them over to us so that we may cut off their heads. Hand over 'Aqil to 'Ali that he may cut off his head, and hand over such and such relative to me that I may but off his head. They are leaders of the disbelievers and veterans among them. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) approved the opinion of Abu Bakr and did not approve what I said The next day when I came to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), I found that both he and Abu Bakr were sitting shedding tears. 1763]
Many of you say the
Islamic State is brutal.
You think that because
Islam began as something strange and will end as something strange.
So give good news to the strangers.
Abu Hurayrah narrated: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Islam began as something strange and will revert to being strange as it began, so give glad tidings to the strangers.” [Sahih Muslim (1/130) No. 145]
(Al-Anfal 8:67)
The Prophet (ﷺ) and Abu Bakr (radiyallahu ‘anhu). were crying when this ayah
came down.
Umar (radiyallahu
‘anhu) asked why.
He wanted to cry also.
"I found that both he and Abu Bakr were sitting shedding tears. I said: Messenger of Allah, why are you and your Companion shedding tears? Tell me the reason. For I will weep ate, if not, I will at least pretend to weep in sympathy with you. 1763]
One of the captives
begged to be freed.
The Prophet (ﷺ) believed him and released him.
He came back one year later and killed many Muslims.
80:1-2 is another example.
(The Prophet (ﷺ) frowned and turned away, (1) Because there came to him the blind man (i.e. 'Abdullah bin Umm-Maktum, who came to the Prophet (Peace be upon him) while he was preaching to one or some of the Quraish chiefs).(2) ('Abasa 80:1-2)
The Prophet (ﷺ) was busy giving dawa to the leaders of Makkah.
Then a blind man came
and asked the Prophet (ﷺ)
to teach him the religion.
The prophet (ﷺ) frowned at his ‘interruption’.
The blind man took
shahadah, but not the leaders of Makkah.
The Shia refute the
above Ayah claiming it was Abu Jahal who frowned.
So you have to give them the following ayah.
O Prophet! Why do you ban (for yourself) that which Allah has made lawful to you, seeking to please your wives? And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. (At-Tahrim 66:1)
Narrated By 'Aisha: The Prophet ﷺ used to stay (for a period) in the house of Zainab bint Jahsh (one of the wives of the Prophet) and he used to drink honey in her house. Hafsa and I decided that when the Prophet entered upon either of us, she would say, "I smell in you the bad smell of Maghafir (a bad smelling raisin). Have you eaten Maghafir?" When he entered upon one of us, she said that to him. He replied (to her), "No, but I have drunk honey in the house of Zainab bint Jahsh, and I will never drink it again." Then the following verse was revealed: 'O Prophet!
Honey is very
important; it contains antibiotics.
For the Prophet (ﷺ) to say he would never drink honey, was a big mistake.
Another mistake was when he prayed over Abdullah Ibn Ubbay.
And never (O Muhammad ﷺ) pray (funeral prayer) for any of them (hypocrites) who dies, nor stand at his grave. Certainly they disbelieved in Allah and His Messenger, and died while they were Fasiqun (rebellious, - disobedient to Allah and His Messenger ﷺ). (At-Tawbah 9:84)
Ibn Umar (RA) narrated: Abdullah son of Abdullah ibn Ubayy came to Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) when his father died, and said, ‘Give me your shirt that I may shroud him in it, and offer his funeral Salah and seek forgiveness for him.” So, he gave him his shirt and said, “When you are over (with preparations), call me.” When he intended to offer the Salah, Umar pulled him, saying, “Has not Allah forbidden us to pray over the hypocrites?” He said, “I am between two options either to seek forgiveness for them or not to seek forgiveness for them”, and he offered Salah over him. So Allah revealed. "And never offer a prayer on any one of them who dies, and do not stand by his grave." (At-Tawbah 9:84) [al-Bukhari (1269) and Muslim (2774)]
The Prophet (ﷺ) prayed over a hypocrite and Allah revealed 9:84.
It is haram to pray
over hypocrites.
Only a hypocrite prays over a hypocrite.
16. THE QURAN IS COMPREHENSIVE AND CONTAINS ALL SUBJECTS
12:5 is talking about sibling rivalry.
He (the father) said: "O my son! Relate not your vision to your brothers, lest they arrange a plot against you. Verily! Shaitan (Satan) is to man an open enemy! (Yusuf 12:5)
12:18 is about criminology or forensic.
And they brought his shirt stained with false blood. He said: "Nay, but your ownselves have made up a tale. So (for me) patience is most fitting. And it is Allah (Alone) Whose help can be sought against that which you assert." (Yusuf 12:18)
When the hypocrites
accused Ayesha (radiyallahu ‘anha), she said the same thing.
That Yaqub (‘alayhi salatu wa salam) said to his sons.
Narrated By Az-Zuhri: Urwa bin Az-Zubair, Said bin Al-Musaiyab, 'Al-Qama bin Waqqas and 'Ubaidullah bin 'Abdullah related the narration of 'Aisha, the wife the Prophet, when the slanderers had said about her what they had said and Allah later declared her innocence. Each of them related a part of the narration (wherein) the Prophet said (to 'Aisha). "If you are innocent, then Allah will declare your innocence: but if you have committed a sin, then ask for Allah's Forgiveness and repent to him." 'Aisha said, "By Allah, I find no example for my case except that of Joseph's father (when he said), 'So(for me) patience is most fitting.' " Then Allah revealed the ten Verses: "Verily those who spread the slander are a gang amongst you..."(24.11) [Sahih Bukhari, Vol 6, Book 60, Hadith #212]
To accuse a woman of having an affair, is one of the seven (7) major sins.
Abu Hurayra reported that the Prophet (ﷺ), said, "Avoid the seven fatal sins." They said, "Messenger of Allah, what are they?" He said, "Associating with Allah, sorcery, killing a soul which Allah has forbidden, except by legal right, consuming usury, consuming the property of an orphan, fleeing on the day of battle and slandering unthinking chaste believing women." [Al-Bukhari (2766) and Muslim (89)]
1. Shirk
2. Sorcery
3. Killing a Muslim
4. Ribaa
5. Stealing from an
orphan
6. Leaving jihad
7. Slandering a pious Muslimah
12:26-27 is talking about sexual harassment.
He [Yusuf (Joseph)] said: "It was she that sought to seduce me," - and a witness of her household bore witness (saying) : "If it be that his shirt is torn from the front, then her tale is true and he is a liar! (Yusuf 12:26)
"But if it be that his shirt is torn from the back, then she has told a lie and he is speaking the truth!" (Yusuf 12:27)
Women commit sexual
harassment as well but men do it more.
Because the testosterone is stronger than oestrogen.
We have neglected nothing in the Book, then unto their Lord they (all) shall be gathered. (Al-An'am 6:38)
27:18 is talking about animal psychology.
A female ant cried out, she acted out according to her motherly instinct.
Till, when they came to the valley of the ants, one of the ants said: "O ants! Enter your dwellings, lest Sulaiman (Solomon) and his hosts crush you, while they perceive not." (An-Naml 27:18)
Males are right wing
politicians, and females are left wing politicians.
Because women have more mercy in their hearts than men.
17. THE QURAN IS PROTECTED FROM HUMAN INTERFERENCE
Verily We: It is We Who have sent down the Dhikr (i.e. the Qur'an) and surely, We will guard it (from corruption). (Al-Hijr 15:9)
The Shia believe the
Quran is corrupted.
They also say Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) is a liar who makes mistakes.
SHIA HUJJAH: “Allah often lies and does mistakes” [Usool-al-Kafi, page 328, Yacoob Kulayni, Vol. 1]
SHIA HUJJAH: The present Quran is in an altered, corrupted and distorted form.. (Fatuhat-e-Shia, p. 129)
18. THE QURAN PROVIDES YOU WITH ARGUMENTS TO REFUTE THE ENEMY
An example is the Jews
- They claim they are the chosen people
Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) says
Say to (them) : "If the home of the Hereafter with Allah is indeed for you specially and not for others, of mankind, then long for death if you are truthful." (Al-Baqarah 2:94)
But they will never long for it because of what their hands have sent before them (i.e. what they have done). And Allah is All-Aware of the Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers). (Al-Baqarah 2:95)
And verily, you will find them (the Jews) the greediest of mankind for life and (even greedier) than those who - ascribe partners to Allah (and do not believe in Resurrection - Magians, pagans, and idolaters, etc.). Everyone of them wishes that he could be given a life of a thousand years. But the grant of such life will not save him even a little from (due) punishment. And Allah is All-Seer of what they do. (Al-Baqarah 2:96)
This is Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) teaching you how to refute the Jew.
Allah (سبحانه
وتعالىٰ) teaches you how to refute the Christians too.
They say that Jesus (‘alayhi salatu wa salam) and his mother are gods.
They both used to eat food (as any other human being, while Allah does not eat). Look how We make the Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) clear to them, yet look how they are deluded away (from the truth). (Al-Ma'idah 5:75)
If they ate food and
went to the toilet, they cannot be God.
Because God doesn't go to the toilet.
Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) teaches you how to refute the atheist in 52:35
Were they created by nothing, or were they themselves the creators? (At-Tur 52:35)
Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) teaches you to refute those who claim to be a gay Muslim.
So We brought out from
therein the believers. (Adh-Dhariyat 51:35)
But We found not there any household of the Muslims except one [i.e. Lout (Lot) and his two daughters]. (Adh-Dhariyat 51:36)
This means a gay cannot
be a Muslim.
Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) teaches you how to refute the grave worshippers.
Surely, the religion (i.e. the worship and the obedience) is for Allah only. And those who take Auliya' (protectors and helpers) besides Him (say) : "We worship them only that they may bring us near to Allah." Verily, Allah will judge between them concerning that wherein they differ. Truly, Allah guides not him who is a liar, and a disbeliever. (Az-Zumar 39:3)
Allah (سبحانه
وتعالىٰ) dismissed the grave worshippers as liars and kuffaar.
Hamza Yusuf needs to learn this ayah.
If you invoke (or call upon) them, they hear not your call, and if (in case) they were to hear, they could not grant it (your request) to you. And on the Day of Resurrection, they will disown your worshipping them. And none can inform you (O Muhammad SAW) like Him Who is the AllKnower (of each and everything)[]. (Fatir 35:14)
HAMZA YUSUF: PRAY TO MUHAMMAD: Click
Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) teaches you how to refute those who say Muhammad (ﷺ) is Nur and not human.
Say (O Muhammad ﷺ): "I am only a man like you. It has been inspired to me that your Ilah (God) is One Ilah (God i.e. Allah). So whoever hopes for the Meeting with his Lord, let him work righteousness and associate none as a partner in the worship of his Lord." (Al-Kahf 18:110)
Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) refutes the Shia who say Abu Bakr (radiyallahu ‘anhu) was a kaafir.
If you help him (Muhammad ﷺ) not (it does not matter), for Allah did indeed help him when the disbelievers drove him out, the second of two, when they (Muhammad ﷺ and Abu Bakr) were in the cave, and he (ﷺ) said to his companion (Abu Bakr) : "Be not sad (or afraid), surely Allah is with us." Then Allah sent down His Sakinah (calmness, tranquillity, peace, etc.) upon him, and strengthened him with forces (angels) which you saw not, and made the word of those who disbelieved the lowermost, while it was the Word of Allah that became the uppermost, and Allah is All-Mighty, All-Wise. (At-Tawbah 9:40)
Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) refutes the Madkhali who say to dismantle the Shariah is a minor kufr in 5:60
Say (O Muhammad ﷺ to the people of the Scripture) : "Shall I inform you of something worse than that, regarding the recompense from Allah: those (Jews) who incurred the Curse of Allah and His Wrath, those of whom (some) He transformed into monkeys and swines, those who worshipped Taghut (false deities); such are worse in rank (on the Day of Resurrection in the Hellfire), and far more astray from the Right Path (in the life of this world)." (Al-Ma'idah 5:60)
If to dismantle the Shariah was a minor kufr, why did Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) turn the Jews into swine and monkeys?
Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) refutes the Democrats who believe in majoritarianism.
And if you obey most of those on earth, they will mislead you far away from Allah's Path. They follow nothing but conjectures, and they do nothing but lie. (Al-An'am 6:116)
If you obey the
majority, they will lead you astray.
The majority are always
evil.
In any country in the
world.
We don't follow the majority, we follow Quran and Sunnah.
19. ALLAH (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) USES SHORT SENTENCES TO EXPRESS BIG IDEAS
And there is (a saving of) life for you in Al-Qisas (the Law of Equality in punishment), O men of understanding, that you may become Al-Muttaqun (the pious - see V.2:2). (Al-Baqarah 2:179)
20. ALLAH (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) USES THE STORIES OF THE PROPHETS
To teach us psychology,
sociology and history.
History repeats itself because of three reasons:
1. The human nature
doesn't change
2. The plot of the
satan doesn’t change
3. The Sunnah of Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) doesn't change
Then, can they expect anything (else), but the Sunnah (way of dealing) of the peoples of old? So no change will you find in Allah's Sunnah (way of dealing), and no turning off will you find in Allah's Sunnah (way of dealing). (Fatir 35:43)
This is why the people
of Kathmandu are suffering.
They are pagans, Hindus -idol worshippers.
The first idol
worshippers were the people of Nuh (‘alayhi salatu wa salam) destroyed with a
flood.
People of Hud (‘alayhi salatu wa salam) were next and were destroyed with wind.
The people of Salih
(‘alayhi salatu wa salam) were destroyed. Because they killed Allah’s (سبحانه
وتعالىٰ) she camel.
They were killed with one clap.
The people of Shuaib
(‘alayhi salatu wa salam) cheated with the scales.
They became rich but had no barakah in their wealth.
The people of Lut
(‘alayhi salatu wa salam) were also destroyed.
Allah (سبحانه
وتعالىٰ) destroyed them with fire and brimstone.
They were the first to commit the crime of homosexuality.
One idol worshipper
after the other were destroyed by natural disasters.
You are not allowed to
feel sorry for the people of Kathmandu.
They worship a black
erected penis - idol worshippers.
They are pagans.
They built a tower with
the lord Shiva (the Hindu god for sex) at the top.
Hippies used to go to
Kathmandu in the 60's for sex (or fun).
This earthquake was forthcoming.
