SHARH OF THE 40 HADEETH OF IMAM AN NAWAWI: Hadith 24

 بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

SHARH OF THE 40 HADEETH: HADEETH NUMBER 24:
''SOMETHINGS ARE HARAM FOR ALLAH TO DO''

10-11-2012 and 11-11-12 (Night Dars)

HADITH NUMBER 24:

On the authority of Abu Dharr al-Ghifaree (RA) from the Prophet
() from his Lord, that He said: O My servants! I have forbidden dhulm (oppression) for Myself, and I have made it forbidden amongst you, so do not oppress one another. O My servants, all of you are astray except those whom I have guided, so seek guidance from Me and I shall guide you. O My servants, all of you are hungry except those whom I have fed, so seek food from Me and I shall feed you. O My servants, all of you are naked except those whom I have clothed, so seek clothing from Me and I shall clothe you. O My servants, you commit sins by day and by night, and I forgive all sins, so seek forgiveness from Me and I shall forgive you. O My servants, you will not attain harming Me so as to harm me, and you will not attain benefiting Me so as to benefit Me. O My servants, if the first of you and the last of you, and the humans of you and the jinn of you, were all as pious as the most pious heart of any individual amongst you, then this would not increase My Kingdom an iota. O My servants, if the first of you and the last of you, and the humans of you and the jinn of you, were all as wicked as the most wicked heart of any individual amongst you, then this would not decrease My Kingdom an iota. O My servants, if the first of you and the last of you, and the humans of you and the jinn of you, were all to stand together in one place and ask of Me, and I were to give everyone what he requested, then that would not decrease what I Possess, except what is decreased of the ocean when a needle is dipped into it. O My servants, it is but your deeds that I account for you, and then recompense you for. So he who finds good, let him praise Allah, and he who finds other than that, let him blame no one but himself. [Sahih Muslim (4/1994) No. 2577]

BIOGRAPHY OF ABU DHARR AL GHIFAREE

Abu Dharr al-Ghifaree (RA) was born in the hijaaz region

-he was from the Banu Kinaanah tribe
-and so he was classified as from the al muhajiroon

He was very famous for his strict piety
-he was also a staunch supporter of Ali
-a staunch opponent of Mu’awiya
-because of this he is loved by the Shiites
-they claimed Abu Dharr was the first Muslim socialist
-because he called for equality

SHARH OF HADEETH:

The hadith of our dars today is a hadith Qudsi
-this means the meaning is from Allah and the prophet expressed it in his own words
-he learnt it from his Lord
-when this is said you know it is a hadith from Allah

Allah said do not oppress each other
-oppression is to deny someone his rights
-if you don't allow a girl to marry who she wants you have oppressed her

This is because of that (evil) which your hands have sent before you. And certainly, Allāh is never unjust to (His) slaves. (Aali Imran 3:182)

-this is the biggest problem in the world today
-everyone oppresses everyone else
-if you put power, women or money in front of a man who has no taqwa
-he'll use misuse and abuse

Many people complain about the leaders oppressing people
-while you oppress your daughters by giving them away to men they don't love

O you who believe! Stand out firmly for Allāh and be just witnesses and let not the enmity and hatred of others make you avoid justice. Be just: that is nearer to piety, and fear Allāh. Verily, Allāh is Well¬Acquainted with what you do. (Al-Ma'idah 5:8)

Allah says He does not oppress His servants

-it is haram in Islam to go to night clubs/commit zina etc.
-there are things also that are haram for Allah to do
-It is haram for Allah to oppress
-Allah is never unjust to His slaves
-It is haraam for Allah to tell a lie
-It is haraam for Allah to break His promises

Verily, Allāh never breaks His Promise". (Aali Imran 3:9)

Certainly, Allāh does not fail in His Promise. (Ra'd 13:31)

… and Allāh fails not in His Promise, but most of men know not. (Ar-Rum 30:6)

-It is haraam for Allah to beget a son

How can He have children when He has no wife? He created all things and He is the All-Knower of everything. (Al-An'am 6:101)

Allah has no consort/no wife

-How can he then beget a son?

And they say: "The Most Beneficent (Allāh) has begotten a son (or offspring or children) [as the Jews say: 'Uzair (Ezra) is the son of Allāh, and the Christians say that He has begotten a son ['Iesa (Christ)], and the pagan Arabs say that He has begotten daughters (angels, etc.)]." (88) Indeed you have brought forth (said) a terrible evil thing. (89) Whereby the heavens are almost torn, and the earth is split asunder, and the mountains fall in ruins,(90) (Maryam 19:88-90)

-Three duaas are always answered by Allah

Abu Hurayrah (RA) reported that Allah’s Messenger
() said, "Three prayers are surely answered: the supplication of the oppressed, the supplication of the traveller, and the supplication of the father for his son." [Sunan Tirmidhi (5/502) No. 3448, Sunan Ibn Majah (5/30) No. 3862, Musnad Ahmad (2/258) No. 7501, Sunan Abu Dawud (2/89) No. 1536]

..and let not the hatred of some people in (once) stopping you from Al¬Masjid¬al¬Harām (at Makkah) lead you to transgression (and hostility on your part). Help you one another in Al¬Birr and At¬Taqwa (virtue, righteousness and piety); but do not help one another in sin and transgression. And fear Allāh. Verily, Allāh is Severe in punishment. (Al-Ma'idah 5:2)

Verily, you will find the strongest among men in enmity to the believers (Muslims) the Jews and those who are Al-Mushrikûn (see V.2:105), and you will find the nearest in love to the believers (Muslims) those who say: "We are Christians." That is because amongst them are priests and monks, and they are not proud. (Al-Ma'idah 5:82)

-What about the Muslims of Palestine as well as the Rohingha Muslims?
-they are all oppressed
-whenever a people hate you it is hard to expect justice from them

O you who believe! Stand out firmly for Allāh and be just witnesses and let not the enmity and hatred of others make you avoid justice. Be just: that is nearer to piety, and fear Allāh. Verily, Allāh is Well¬Acquainted with what you do. (Al-Ma'idah 5:8)

-the Muslims in USA and UK are living behind enemy lines
-this is why Babar Ahmed was extradited.
-when they arrested him it was bloody
-it is deja vu, like what happened to Rodney king
-it is impossible for a kaffir to be just
-they have no taqwa

Narrated By Ibn Abbas: The Prophet sent Mu'adh to Yemen and said, "Fear the supplication of the oppressed, for there is no barrier between it and Allah." [al-Bukhari (1496) and Muslim (19)]

Ibn Taymiyyah (rh) said: Hence it was said that Allah supports just nations even if they are kaafirs, and He does not support unjust nations even if they are Muslims. The Prophet (SAW) said: “No sin brings a swifter punishment than injustice and severing the ties of kinship.” The unjust person will be punished in this world even if he is forgiven and granted mercy in the Hereafter. That is because justice is the foundation of all things. If a thing is based on justice it will endure, even if its founder has no share in the Hereafter. If it is not based on justice then it will not endure, even if its founder has faith for which he will be rewarded in the Hereafter. [Majmua al-Fataawa (28/146)]

…O My servants, all of you are astray except those whom I have guided, so seek guidance from Me and I shall guide you…

-this is telling you that there is only one al Haadi, the guide
-the most pious person to walk the earth was Prophet Muhammad (saw)
-yet he could not make his uncle a Muslim

Verily! You (O Muhammad SAW) guide not whom you like, but Allāh guides whom He wills. And He knows best those who are the guided. (Al-Qasas 28:56)

-he was devastated that his uncle died a kaffir
-he loved his uncle (emotional love): proof you can love a kaffir
-because his uncle did not fight the deen
-Muhammad wanted his uncle to be with him in paradise
-when the prophet told his uncle to recite the shahada
-the devil Abu Jahl told him to die with *dignity*
-and so his uncle died a kaffir

Narrated by Saeed bin Al-Musaiyyab from his father who said: “when the time of death of Abu Talib approached, Allah’s Apostle
() went to him and found Abu Jahl bin Hisham and Abdullah bin Abi Umayyia by his side. Allah’s Apostle said to Abu Talib, ‘O uncle! Say: None has the right to be worshipped except Allah (La ilaha illAllah), a sentence with which I shall be a witness i.e. intercede for you before Allah’. Abu Jahl and Abdullah ibn Umaiyya said, ‘O Abu Talib! Are you going to denounce the religion of your father Abdul Muttalib?’, Allah’s Apostle kept on inviting Abu Talib to say ‘Laa ilaha illAllah’ (i.e. None has the right to Worshipped except Allah) while they Abu Jahl and Abdullah kept on repeating their statement till Abu Talib said as his last statement that he was on the religion of his father Abdul Muttalib and thus he refused to say ‘None has the right to be worshipped except Allah’ (La ilaha illAllah). (Sahih Bukhari (Arabic/English) Vol.2 pg.248 No.442

-Allah guides the one who humbles himself
-He does not guide the proud and arrogant
-humility is a quality of the prophets

And whomsoever Allāh wills to guide, He opens his breast to Islām, and whomsoever He wills to send astray, He makes his breast closed and constricted, as if he is climbing up to the sky. Thus Allāh puts the wrath on those who believe not. (Al-An'am 6:125)

-If you are blessed with wealth it can cause you to become proud and arrogant
-the rich will be the majority in the hellfire
-they say *who needs Islam when i have a billion dollars*?
-your wealth becomes a curse when it causes you to reject Islam

Allāh has set a seal on their hearts and on their hearings, (i.e. they are closed from accepting Allāh's Guidance), and on their eyes there is a covering. Theirs will be a great torment. (Al-Baqarah 2:7)

And you might have seen the sun, when it rose, declining to the right from their Cave, and when it set, turning away from them to the left, while they lay in the midst of the Cave. That is (one) of the Ayāt (proofs, evidences, signs) of Allāh. He whom Allāh guides, is rightly guided; but he whom He sends astray, for him you will find no Walī (guiding friend) to lead him (to the right Path). (Al-Kahf 18:17)

"In Habasha, there is a king that no one is wronged under his reign, so emigrate to his country until Allah makes a relief and a way out for you from what you suffer" [al-Sunan al-Kubra al-Bayhaqi (9/16) No. 17734, narrated by Um Salamah]

-the most valuable thing in your life is guidance
-in surah Fatiha you ask Allah for guidance 17 times per day
-in the grave you are asked three questions
-Who is your lord/prophet/religion?
-Christians will say Jesus
-Jews cannot say Muhammad, they hated him
-without guidance you cannot answer the questions in the grave
-and the angels will hit you in the head with a hammer for wrong answers

...'Ali said, "Should I fight them till they become like us (i.e. Muslim)?" The Prophet said, "Go to them patiently and calmly till you enter the land. Then, invite them to Islam, and inform them what is enjoined upon them, for, by Allah, if Allah gives guidance to somebody through you, it is better for you than possessing red camels." [Sahih Bukhari, Vol 4, Book 52, Hadith #253]

-tawfiq is when Allah guides you to Islam on your own
-al irshad is when someone guides someone else to Islam

…O My servants, all of you are hungry except those whom I have fed, so seek food from Me and I shall feed you…

Food is mentioned by Allah in this hadith Qudsi

-food is a barakah and you take it for granted
-some people get a thousand dollars from food stamps
-there are no food stamps in Mali, Bangladesh etc.
-when shaikh toured Africa he saw no food stamps
-people are starving in Africa; they have extended bellies
-the flies hang around waiting for the kids to die

They have food stamps and jobseeker allowance in UK and USA
-people starve to death in countries because there are no food stamps

Narrated By 'Aisha: The Prophet
() used to seek refuge with Allah (by saying), "O Allah! I seek refuge with You from the affliction of the Fire and from the punishment in the Fire, and seek refuge with You from the affliction of the grave, and I seek refuge with You from the affliction of wealth, and I seek refuge with You from the affliction of poverty, and seek refuge with You from the affliction of Al-Masih Ad-Dajjal" [Sahih Bukhari, Vol 8, Book 75, Hadith #387]

And proclaim the Grace of your Lord (i.e. the Prophet hood and all other Graces). (Ad-Duha 93:11)

Anas Ibn Malik narrated the Messenger of Allah (
()) said: “Poverty, in all probability, leads to unbelief (kufr)...” [al-Bayhaqi narrated in 'Shu’ab al-Eemaan' (9/12) No. 6188 and Abu Na'eem narrated in 'Hileeyat al-Awwleeyah' (3/109)]

-when the crusaders want to convert Muslims they don't go to rich countries
-they go to poor countries
-they can't go to north Mali because the fundamentalists are there
-so USA asked Algeria to invade Mali
-the evangelists always target poor countries
-they know poverty leads to kufr

(It is a great Grace and Protection from Allāh), for the taming of the Quraish, (1) (And with all those Allāh's Grace and Protections for their taming, We cause) the (Quraish) caravans to set forth safe in winter (to the south), and in summer (to the north without any fear), (2) So let them worship (Allāh) the Lord of this House (the Ka'bah in Makkah). (3) (He) Who has fed them against hunger, and has made them safe from fear. (4) (Quraish 106:1-4)

-in this surah Allah said He kept them away from fear
-He kept them away from oppression
-yet they worshipped Lat and Hubal
-why do they worship sticks and stones?
-It is Allah who sustained them
-in poor countries they have long lines at the USA embassy
-they want to go get food etc.

It was narrated that 'Abdullah bin 'Umar said: "The Messenger of Allah
() turned to us and said: 'O Muhajirin, there are five things with which you will be tested, and I seek refuge with Allah lest you live to see them: Immorality never appears among a people to such an extent that they commit it openly, but plagues and diseases that were never known among the predecessors will spread among them. They do not cheat in weights and measures but they will be stricken with famine, severe calamity and the oppression of their rulers. They do not withhold the Zakah of the wealth, but rain will be withheld from the sky, and were it not for the animals, no rain would fall on them. They do not break the covenant with Allah and His Messenger, but Allah will enable their enemies to overpower them and take some of what is in their hands. Unless their leaders rule according to the Book of Allah and seek all good from that which Allah has revealed, Allah will cause them to fight one another. [Sunan Ibn Majah (Arabic/English), Vol. 5, pg. 222-223, Hadith #4019]

-if they paid their zakat they would be successful
-the starving countries have no welfare system
-Allah has withheld the rain
-if you want Allah to be kind to you
-then be kind to the servants of Allah

…. and do good as Allāh has been good to you, and seek not mischief in the land. Verily, Allāh likes not the Mufsidûn (those who commit great crimes and sins, oppressors, tyrants, mischief-makers, corrupts). (Al-Qasas 28:77)

-if you want the food to come, be charitable
-Australia has welfare system
-if you are on welfare in Denmark, Sweden and Norway you live like a king in Africa

...O My servants, all of you are naked except those whom I have clothed, so seek clothing from Me and I shall clothe you...

-like food, clothing is a necessity

O Children of Adam! We have bestowed raiment upon you to cover yourselves (screen your private parts, etc.) and as an adornment, and the raiment of righteousness, that is better. Such are among the Ayāt (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of Allāh, that they may remember (i.e. leave falsehood and follow truth[]). (Al-A'raf 7:26)

The rasul
() used to make dua whenever he had a new garment
-you have to dress properly for a job
-otherwise you fail the interview
-clothing can be a fitna or a barakah
-scientist found some men in the amazon impotent
-the women are always naked
-it decreased the desire of the men from seeing this constantly
-when you wear hijab it increases the libido of the man and the women
-the shaytan hates clothing

O Children of Adam! Let not Shaitān (Satan) deceive you, as he got your parents [Adam and Hawwa (Eve)] out of Paradise, stripping them of their raiments, to show them their private parts. Verily, he and Qabīluhu (his soldiers from the jinns or his tribe) see you from where you cannot see them. Verily, We made the Shayātin (devils) Auliyā' (protectors and helpers) for those who believe not. (Al-A'raf 7:27)

-they put women in prison in France for wearing hijab
-yet a prostitute can walk down the road half naked

Priests/teachers etc. were arrested for using credit card to download child porn
-they want to get rid of cash so they can keep track of everything
-they will know from the things you buy your character
-cash is not traceable

Bahz ibn Hakim reported from his father who from his grandfather that he asked the Prophet
(): 'from whom they should conceal their awrah and from whom not?' He said, “Guard your awrah except from your wife and what your right hand possesses (female slaves).” He asked, “O Messenger of Allah () what when people are with each other?” He said, “If it is possible that no one may observe your private parts, see that none sees them.” He asked, “O Prophet () of Allah what if one of us is alone?” He said, “But Allah has more right that people should be ashamed before Him.” [Sunan Tirmidhi (5/97) No. 2769, Sunan Abu Dawud (4/40) No. 4017, Musnad Ahmad (5/3) No. 20046]

-the clothes you wear say if you are a first/second/third class citizen
-the shoes that stars wear start from $5000 a pair
-if the Prophet
() was alive he would not be walking around in Versace,
-this is a gay label
-Georgio Armani and Tommy Hilfiger are better
-NIKE puts a pagan symbol on their shoes
-NIKE also put Allah’s name on their shoes

Nike (Greek mythology) is the Greek goddess of victory, both in battle and in sport. The Romans knew her as Victoria, a name that obviously means "victory", and is still popular today: http://www.gods-and-monsters.com/nike-greek-mythology.html

-wearing NIKE promotes shirk
-wear Adidas or Reebok
-garments are so important that even the prophet (saw)
-used to seek refuge in Allah each time he dressed in a new garment

...O My servants, you commit sins by day and by night, and I forgive all sins, so seek forgiveness from Me and I shall forgive you...

Sins means to disobey Allah knowingly

-so if you know that alcohol is haram and you drink it, it is a sin
-if you do not know then it is not a sin
-if you are under ikraah (duress) you are not committing a sin
-if you have a slip of the tongue, you are not sinning

Whoever disbelieved in Allāh after his belief, except him who is forced thereto and whose heart is at rest with Faith but such as open their breasts to disbelief, on them is wrath from Allāh, and theirs will be a great torment. (An-Nahl 16:106)

In another version of Muslim, he said: “Verily, Allah is more pleased with the repentance of His slave than a person who has his camel in a waterless desert carrying his provision of food and drink and it is lost. He, having lost all hopes (to get that back), lies down in shade and is disappointed about his camel; when all of a sudden he finds that camel standing before him. He takes hold of its reins and then out of boundless joy blurts out: 'O Allah, You are my slave and I am Your Rubb'. He commits this mistake out of extreme joy.” [Sahih Muslim (4/2104) No. 2747]

-the prophet used to seek forgiveness 100 times per day

Al-Agharr al-Muzani reported that the Messenger of Allah
() said, "A cloudiness comes over my heart and I ask for Allah's forgiveness a hundred times a day." [Sahih Muslim (4/2075) No. 2702, Musnad Ahmad (4/211) No. 17881, Sunan Abu Dawud (2/84) No. 1515]

Abu Huraira (RA) said: I heard the Messenger of Allah
() saying, "I swear by Allah that I seek Allah's Pardon and turn to Him in repentance more than seventy times a day." [Sahih Bukhari (8/67) No. 6307, Musnad Ahmad (2/341) No. 8474, Sunan Ibn Majah (4/719) No. 3815, Sunan Tirmidhi (5/383) No. 3259]

-if you announce your sin Allah will not forgive you

Abu Hurayrah said: I heard the Messenger of Allaah
() say: “All of my ummah will be forgiven except those who sin openly. It is a part of sinning openly when a man does something at night, then the following morning when Allaah has concealed his sin, he says, ‘O So and so, I did such and such last night,’ when all night his Lord has concealed him and the next morning he uncovers what Allaah had concealed.” (Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 5721; Muslim, 2990)

Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger
() having said: “By Him in Whose Hand is my life, if you were not to commit sin, Allah would sweep you out of existence and He would replace (you by) those people who would commit sin and seek forgiveness from Allah, and He would have pardoned them.” [Sahih Muslim (4/2106) No. 2749]

Anas (RA) reported that the Prophet
() said, “Every son of Adam commits sin but the best of those who sin are those who repent.” [Sunan Tirmidhi (4/659) No. 2499, Sunan Ibn Majah (5/320) No. 4250, Sunan al-Darime (2/392) No. 2727, Musnad Ahmad (3/198) No. 13072]

Allah (swt) forgives all sins even shirk

-shirk means paganism, polytheist
-Allah will forgive you if you make your taubah before you die

Say: "O 'Ibādī (My slaves) who have transgressed against themselves (by committing evil deeds and sins)! Despair not of the Mercy of Allāh, verily Allāh forgives all sins. Truly, He is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. (Az-Zumar 39:53)

-so if a Hindu makes taubah and becomes a Muslim
-Allah will forgive him

Verily, Allāh forgives not that partners should be set up with him in worship, but He forgives except that (anything else) to whom He pleases, and whoever sets up partners with Allāh in worship, he has indeed invented a tremendous sin. (An-Nisa 4:48)

Allah said that we sin by night and by day
-an example of this is backbiting, gossiping and slandering

Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger
() having said: “By Him in Whose Hand is my life, if you were not to commit sin, Allah would sweep you out of existence and He would replace (you by) those people who would commit sin and seek forgiveness from Allah, and He would have pardoned them.” [Sahih Muslim (4/2106) No. 2749]

-this is why the rasul
() advised us to control our tongues
-there is no such Muslim that doesn't commit a sin
-the only sin that can make you a kaafir is a sin that is kufr Akbar (e.g. magic)

Ibn Mas'ud reported that the Messenger of Allah
(), said, "Insulting a Muslim is going off the path (fusuq) and killing him is disbelief (kufr)." [al-Bukhari (48) and Muslim (64)]

-the kufr in this hadith is minor kufr
-when the kuffaar wrote to Ali (r.a) to help him fight Mu’awiya (r.a)
-he threatened to gang up with him and fight them

THE 5 PILLARS OF TAWBAH

-everything has pillars

1) STOP THE ACT

-Salman Rushdie wrote a book insulting Islam
-then he said he repented
-but he is still selling the book
-how can you forgive this?
-even the white kuffar of the UK were appalled by his writings
-he is a low life scum of the earth
-how can you be a shaikh and say to forgive

2) YOU SHOULD FEEL REMORSE FOR THE ACT

On the authority of Abdullah Ibn Masood the Prophet
() said: “Regret is repentance.” [Musnad Ahmad (1/376) No. 3568 and Sunan Ibn Majah (5/322) No. 4252]

3) YOU NEED TO SEEK FORGIVENESS FROM THE ONE YOU HAVE HARMED

-Allah will never forgive you for this unless the person forgives you

Abu Huraira (RA) narrated the Messenger of Allah
() said: “Whoever has wronged his brother with regard to his honour or something, let him ask him for forgiveness before the time when there will be neither dinar nor dirham, and if he has any good deeds it will be taken from him in proportion to the wrong he did, and if he does not have any good deeds (hasanaat), some of the other person's evil deeds (sayi’aat) will be taken and given to him to bear.” [Sahih Bukhari (3/129) No. 2449]

4) BEG ALLAH TO FORGIVE YOU

On the authority of Abu Bakr al-Siddeeq (RA) said: I heard the Messenger of Allah
() say: “There is no one who commits a sin then purifies himself well and stands and prays two rak’ahs, then asks Allah for forgiveness, but Allah will forgive him. Then he recited this verse: ‘And those who, when they have committed Fahishah (illegal sexual intercourse) or wronged themselves with evil, remember Allah and ask forgiveness for their sins; (and none can forgive sins but Allah) and do not persist in what (wrong) they have done, while they know’ [Aal ‘Imraan 3:135].” [Sunan Abu Dawud (2/86) No. 1521]

5) TO MAKE TAUBAH BEFORE THE SUN RISES FROM THE WEST

-and before you death rattles

Ibn Umar reported that the Prophet
() said, “Indeed, Allah accepts repentance of His slave as long as he does not gasp for last breaths.” [Musnad Ahmad (2/132) No. 6160, Sunan Tirmidhi (5/547) No. 3537, Sunan Ibn Majah (5/322) No. 4253, Musnad Abu Ya'la (10/81) No. 5717, Sahih Ibn Hibban (2/394) No. 628, Shu'ab al-Eman al-Bayhaqi (9/281) No. 6661]

Abu Musa narrated the Prophet
() said: “Allah spreads out His hand at night to accept the repentance of those who committed sins during the day, and He spreads out His hand during the day to accept the repentance of those who committed sins during the night. (He will continue to do this) until the sun rises from the West.” [Sahih Muslim (4/2113) No. 2759]

…O My servants, if the first of you and the last of you, and the humans of you and the jinn of you, were all as pious as the most pious heart of any individual amongst you, then this would not increase My Kingdom an iota. O My servants, if the first of you and the last of you, and the humans of you and the jinn of you, were all as wicked as the most wicked heart of any individual amongst you, then this would not decrease My Kingdom an iota…

Taqwa means to place between yourself and the wrath of Allah a barrier

-Allah mentioned both human and jinn in the hadith

On the authority of Abu Dharr Jundub ibn Junadah, and Abu Abdur-Rahman Muadh bin Jabal (RA), that the Messenger of Allah
() said: Have taqwa (fear) of Allah wherever you may be, and follow up a bad deed with a good deed which will wipe it out, and behave well towards the people. It was related by at-Tirmidhi, who said it was a hasan (good) hadith, and in some copies it is stated to be a hasan saheeh hadith.

-this is because only man and jinn will be judged on judgement day
-they are called ath-thaqalain

And I (Allāh) created not the jinns and humans except they should worship Me (Alone). (Adh-Dhariyat 51:56)

-there were some kuffaar who felt that they were doing
-the rasul (saw) a favour by taking shahada
-Allah revealed 49:17 to address this

They regard as favour upon you (O Muhammad
()) that they have embraced Islām. Say: "Count not your Islām as a favour upon me. Nay, but Allāh has conferred a favour upon you, that He has guided you to the Faith, if you indeed are true. (Al-Hujurat 49:17)

-so do not have an attitude and think that you are doing Allah a favour
-Allah did you a favour by guiding you to Islam

It was narrated that Abu Huraira (RA) said: 'When the Messenger of Allah
() offered the funeral prayer he would say: "Allahummaghfir lihayyina wa mayyitina, wa shahidina wa gha'ibina, wa saghirina wa kabirina, wa dhakarina wa unthana. Allahumma man ahyaitahu minna faahyihi 'alal-islam, wa man tawaffaytahu minna fa tawaffahu 'alal-eemaan. Allahumma la tahrimna ajrahu wa la tudillana ba'dah" (“O Allah, forgive our living and our dead, those who are present and those who are absent, our young and our old, our males and our females. O Allah, whomever of us You cause to live, let him live in Islam, and whomever of us You cause to die, let him die (in a state of) faith. O Allah do not deprive us of his reward, and do not let us go astray after him)”. [Sunan Ibn Majah (Vol. 2, pg. 467) No. 1498 and Musnad Ahmad (Vol. 2, pg. 368) No. 8795]

-it is a favour from Allah to die a Muslim
-some people die as kaafir

…O My servants, it is but your deeds that I account for you, and then recompense you for. So he who finds good, let him praise Allah, and he who finds other than that, let him blame no one but himself. [Sahih Muslim (4/1994) No. 2577]

Allah only reckons you for your deeds
-your deeds alone can't take you to Jannat
-but you enter Jannat only with HIS mercy

Jabir reported: I heard Allah's Apostle
() as saying: None of you would get into Paradise because of his good deeds alone, and he would not be rescued from Fire, not even I, but because of the Mercy of Allah. [Sahih Muslim, Book 39, Hadith #6769]

-we sin by night and by day so we are not pious enough
-we fall short in our taqwa
-so our deeds can't guarantee us Jannat
