The Wisdom of The Prophet Muhammad [Notes]

THE WISDOM OF THE PROPHET MUHAMMAD

()

JULY 15 2014 - 17 RAMADAN 1435 HIJRI

DARS ONE

- We have not touched this topic before.

- The Rasool () was the most successful world leader.

- This assessment was done by historians.

- Muslim and non Muslim historians.

- They said he was the most successful leader the world has ever seen.

- The reason for that was that he, Muhammad () was the only man in history to successfully combine all the different aspects of life.

- He was a husband, a father, a grandfather, a stepfather, a father-in-law.

- He was a spiritual leader.

- He was a judge.

- He was a politician.

- He was a law giver.

- He was a military genius.

- He combined all the various aspects of life successfully.

- This is why the historians say, from all the world leaders Muhammad () was the most successful.

Allah ( اللهُ سبحانه وتعالى) said in the Qur'an Surah Al Ahzab verse 21

Indeed in the Messenger of Allah (Muhammad ) you have a good example to follow for him who hopes in (the Meeting with) Allah and the Last Day and remembers Allah much. (Al-Ahzab 33:21)

- Allah ( اللهُ سبحانه وتعالى) spoke about the character of Muhammad () in the above ayah.

-The reason why Allah ( اللهُ سبحانه وتعالى) said his character is the best example is because his character is the most comprehensive.

- Nothing was left out.

- His character embraced all aspects of life.

- His character was excellent because he was inspired as mentioned in the below ayah.

Allah ( اللهُ سبحانه وتعالى) said in the Qur'an Surah An Najm verse 3 to 4

Nor does he speak of (his own) desire. It is only an Inspiration that is inspired.(An-Najm 53:3-4)

- Muhammad () had a good character and he was wise because he was inspired by Allah ( اللهُ سبحانه وتعالى).

Allah ( اللهُ سبحانه وتعالى) said in the Qur'an Surah Al Qalam verse 4

And verily, you (O Muhammad ) are on an exalted standard of character. (Al-Qalam 68:4)

Yazid ibn Yabnus said, "We went to 'A'isha and said, 'Umm al-Mu'minin, what was the character of the Messenger of Allah (), like?' She replied, 'His character was the Qur'an. Can you recite the sura entitled "The Believers"?' She said, 'Recite: "It is the believers who are successful: those who are humble in their prayer; those who turn away from worthless talk; those who actively pay zakat; those who guard their private parts." (23:1-5)' She said, 'That was the character of the Messenger of Allah (SAW).'" [Al-Adab al-Mufrad al-Bukhari, No. 308]

Abu Huraira narrated the Messenger of Allah () said, "I was sent to perfect good character." [al-Adab al-Mufrad al-Bukhari, No. 273, Muwatta Malik (2/75) No. 1885, Musnad Ahmad (2/381) No. 8939, Mustadrak al-Haakim (2/670) No. 4221]

- Mustadrak means to correct some historical mistake (to set the record straight).

- Allah ( اللهُ سبحانه وتعالى) said that the Sunnah of Muhammad () is wisdom.

Allah ( اللهُ سبحانه وتعالى) said in the Qur'an Surah Al Jumu'ah verse 2

He it is Who sent among the unlettered ones a Messenger (Muhammad ) from among themselves, reciting to them His Verses, purifying them (from the filth of disbelief and polytheism), and teaching them the Book (this Qur'an, Islamic laws and Islamic jurisprudence) and Al-Hikmah (As-Sunnah: legal ways, orders, acts of worship, etc. of Prophet Muhammad SAW). And verily, they had been before in mainfest error; (Al-Jumu'ah 62:2)

Allah ( اللهُ سبحانه وتعالى) said in the Qur'an Surah Al Baqarah verse 269

He grants Hikmah to whom He pleases, and he, to whom Hikmah is granted, is indeed granted abundant good. But none remember (will receive admonition) except men of understanding. (Al-Baqarah 2:269)

WHAT IS WISDOM?

- Wisdom is to say and do the right things at the right time at the right place and in the right manner.

Sufyan Ath-Thawri from Abdur Rahman Bin Abbas said Ayas Abu Yahya related to me from Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (RA) he used to say in his sermon the best provision is piety and the peak of wisdom is to fear Allah. [Bayhaqi in Sha'ab al Imaan (1/470) and Sunan al-Kubra]

- Ibn Masud (RA) said the peak of wisdom is to fear Allah ( اللهُ سبحانه وتعالى) as mentioned in the above hadith.

EXAMPLES TO PROVE THAT MUHAMMAD () WAS WISE

1. WHEN ALLAH REVEALED THE QURAN TO HIM AND MADE HIM A PROPHET

- Before he took the message to the general public, he chose a few people to teach Islam in the house of Arqam ibn Abi Arqam.

- And he made these people the stalwarts of Islam.

-  A Stalwart is a champion of a cause.

- The stalwarts included

1) Abu Bakr (RA),

2) Uthman (RA),

3) Talha (RA),

4) Zubair (RA),

5) Khadija (RAA),

6) Abdur Rahman bin Auf (RA)

7) Saad ibn Abi Waqqas

- These are the sahaabas who were cherry picked by the Prophet () to learn Tawheed in the house of Arqam ibn Abi Arqam.

-Tawheed was new in Makkah.

-He did this because he didn't want Tawheed to frighten the people of Makkah.

- So he broke the message to them slowly.

Abu Hurayrah narrated: The Messenger of Allah () said: “Islam began as something strange and will revert to being strange as it began, so give glad tidings to the strangers.” [Sahih Muslim (1/130) No. 145]

-This is the first evidence to prove the Prophet () was wise.

2. WHEN HIS COMPANIONS WERE PERSECUTED, HE SAID GO TO ETHIOPIA

"In Habasha, there is a king that no one is wronged under his reign, so emigrate to his country until Allah makes a relief and a way out for you from what you suffer" [al-Sunan al-Kubra al-Bayhaqi (9/16) No. 17734, narrated by Um Salamah]

- Because in this land no one is oppressed.

- When they went to Abyssinia, the king gave them a red carpet treatment.

- He chose wisely because he paid keen attention to fiqh ul waaqi (current events on the ground).

- A wise person is a person who knows fiqh ul waaqi.

Why is it that Bush is remembered as a fool in history?

- Because he sent Americans to war in Afghanistan and this was a war that could not be won.

- If you pull out you lose, if you stay you lose.

- The Prophet () was remembered as a wise leader, because he sent his people to Ethiopia where no one was oppressed.

- This means the Prophet () knew the fiqh ul waaqi.

- A leader that does not know fiqh ul waaqi will make dangerous decisions like Bush and Blair.

- And the consequences will be devastating.

- The invasion of Iraq has caused Iraq to be in turmoil.

- These leaders will be remembered in history as fools because their decisions brought forth total disaster.

3. HE DID NOT SEND ANY SLAVES TO ETHIOPIA LIKE BILAL

- Because Quraish would use it as an argument against the Prophet ().

- Quraish would have said, these are people who ran away from their masters. Send them back.

-The Prophet () only sent free believers to Ethiopia.

4. THE PROPHET (SAWS) GOT MARRIED TO UMM HABIBAH, THE DAUGHTER OF ABU SUFYAN

-The Prophet () made the leader of Makkah his father-in-law.

- And this was a factor that made Abu Sufyan embraced Islam.

Allah ( اللهُ سبحانه وتعالى) said in the Qur'an surah Al Mumtahinah verse 7

Perhaps Allah will make friendship between you and those whom you hold as enemies. And Allah has power (over all things), and Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. (Al-Mumtahinah 60:7)

- All the scholars said Allah ( اللهُ سبحانه وتعالى) was talking about Abu Sufyan in the ayah above.

- Abu Sufyan was wise, he did not die a kaafir.

- The fool was Abu Jahl because he died a kaafir at the Battle of Badr.

5. A MAN SAID TO THE PROPHET () I HAVE MANY BAD HABITS, SO ADVISE ME

Once a man came to Prophet Muhammad () and said, "O Messenger of Allah ( اللهُ سبحانه وتعالى), I have many bad habits. Which one of them should I give up first?" Prophet Muhammad () said, "Give up telling lies first and always speak the truth." The man promised to do so and went home. At night the man was about to go out to steal. Before setting out, he thought for a moment about the promise he made with Prophet Muhammad (). "If tomorrow Prophet Muhammad () asks me where have I been, what shall I say? Shall I say that I went out stealing? No, I cannot say that. But nor can I lie. If I tell the truth, everyone will start hating me and call me a thief. I would be punished for stealing." So the man decided not to steal that night, and gave up this bad habit of stealing.[insert takreej]

- I quoted this hadith to prove that if the man decided to be truthful, he would relinquish the other bad habits.

-This shows that the Prophet () was wise.

-It would have been shameful to admit to the Prophet () about his other sins.

6. THE HADITH ABOUT OUR SIX RIGHTS OVER EACH OTHER

Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (RA) as saying: Six are the rights of a Muslim over another Muslim. It was said to him: Allah's Messenger, what are these? Thereupon he said: When you meet him, offer him greetings; when he invites you to a feast accept it, when he seeks your council give him, and when he sneezes and says: "All praise is due to Allah," you say Yarhamuk Allah (may Allah show mercy to you); and when he falls ill visit him; and when he dies follow his bier. [Sahih Muslim (4/1705) No. 2162, Musnad Ahmad (2/372) No. 8832, al-Adab al-Mufrad al-Bukhari No. 925]

-The above mentioned hadith is proof that the Prophet () was wise and a great teacher.

-The hadith outlines four stages in a human’s life.

Stage 1: When you are in good health

Stage 2: When your health is between good and bad, and that is when you sneeze

Stage 3: When your health is bad and that is when you become sick

Stage 4: When you die

-The Ulama said, the Prophet () when teaching us the four stages, arranged them in such a manner that it is easy for everyone in his ummah to memorize the four stages.

- And the six rights that we have over each other.

-This proves Muhammad () was a great teacher.

7. WHEN A YOUNG MAN ASK PERMISSION TO COMMIT ZINA

- He did not say to the young man he would cut off his head.

- He was patient with the young man.

- The man was not thinking about anything but his own pleasure.

-The Prophet () asks him if he would like for someone to commit zina with his mother or sister.

Abu Umamah (RA) saying that a young man came to the Prophet () and said, "O Messenger of Allah! Give me permission to commit Zina (unlawful sex).'' The people surrounded him and rebuked him, saying, "Stop! Stop!'' But the Prophet said, "(Come close)". The young man came to him, and he said, "(Sit down)", so he sat down. The Prophet said, "(Would you like it (unlawful sex) for your mother?)" He said, "No, by Allah, may I be ransomed for you.'' The Prophet said, "(Neither do the people like it for their mothers!)" The Prophet said, "(Would you like it for your daughter?)

" He said, "No, by Allah, may I be ransomed for you.'' The Prophet said, "(Neither do the people like it for their daughters!)" The Prophet said, "(Would you like it for your sister?)" He said, "No, by Allah, may I be ransomed for you.'' The Prophet said, "(Neither do the people like it for their sisters!)" The Prophet said, "(Would you like it for your paternal aunt?)" He said, "No, by Allah, O Allah's Messenger! May I be ransomed for you.'

The Prophet said, "(Neither do the people like it for their paternal aunts!)" The Prophet said, "(Would you like it for your maternal aunt?)" He said, "No, by Allah, O Allah's Messenger! May I be ransomed for you.'' The Prophet said, "(Neither do the people like it for their maternal aunts!)" Then the Prophet put his hand on him and said, "(O Allah, forgive his sin, purify his heart and guard his chastity.)" After that the young man never paid attention to anything of that nature. [Musnad Ahmad, (Vol. 5, pg. 256) No. 22265]

-This hadith proves the Prophet () was wise.

-Imam Shafi (RH) said zina is a debt which you owe.

Stay chaste and your women will be chaste, and save yourself from that which is unfit for a Muslim. Verily, adultery is a debt, if you have taken this debt, know that its payment will be taken from the people of your household. One who commits adultery, in return adultery will be committed with him, even though it will be committed against the wall of your house. O man! If you are wise then you should know it (Diwan Ash-Shafi'i)

8. HIS MARRIAGE WITH SAUDA BINT ZAM'A

- When his wife of 10 years, Khadija died, he had big daughters.

- He married a woman who was 50 years old.

-They needed a mother figure in their lives to look over his daughters properly.

- Every marriage of the Prophet () proves that he was a wise person.

- His Marriage to Sauda Bint Zam'a (RAA) was a successful marriage.

9. SENDING MUS'AB IBN UMAIR AS HIS AMBASSADOR BEFORE MAKING THE HIJRA HIMSELF

- Islam would be new to Madina and he did not want to frighten the people, so he sent Mus'ab ibn Umair (RA) to pave the way.

- He was handsome and a likable person. He was very intelligent, wise and good in character.

- When he arrived in Madina, already the people knew about Islam because of Mus'ab ibn Umair (RA).

10. WHEN THE PROPHET () ARRIVED IN MADINA, EVERYONE WANTED THE PROPHET () TO BUILD A MASJID ON THEIR PROPERTY

-There was fierce rivalry between the two tribes of al Aws and Al khazraj.

-The Prophet () allowed his camel to make the choice.

-The Prophet () said anywhere my camel sits and lays down; I will build my house and my masjid on that piece of land.

-If the camel made the choice, how can you accuse the Prophet () of favouritism.

11. AT THE BATTLE OF BADR THE PROPHET (SAWS) LISTENED TO THE ADVICE OF HUBAB IBN MUNDHIR

In Battle of Badr, the Prophet () and his Companions were deployed in the nearest place to Badr's wells. But Companion Hubab ibn al-Mundhir (RA) was not satisfied with this. With great politeness he said: "O Messenger of Allah (), has Allah inspired you to choose this very spot or is it stratagem of war and the product of consultation?" The Prophet () replied: "It is stratagem of war and consultation." Al-Hubab said: "This place is no good; let us go and encamp on the nearest water well and make a basin or reservoir full of water, then destroy all the other wells so that they will be deprived of the water." The Prophet () approved of his plan and agreed to carry it out.

[Ibn Hisham: al-Sirah al-Nabawiyyah, 1/620; Ibn Kathir: al-Sirah al-Nabawiyyah, 2/402; al-Suhayli: al-Rawd al-Anif, 3/62; and al-Tabary: Tarikh al-Umam wa al-Muluk, 2-29]

- He gave the Prophet () his opinion of where they should camp.

- This man was an expert in war and the Prophet () accepted his advice.

- Inspite of him being a prophet, he gave up his opinion and accepted the opinion of a sahaaba.

-This is called wisdom because it made the sahaabas feel they were part of the struggle.

12. HE POSITIONED THE BELIEVERS ON THE BATTLEFIELD OF UHUD

Allah ( اللهُ سبحانه وتعالى) said in the Qur'an surah Al Imran verse 121

And (remember) when you (Muhammad ) left your household in the morning to post the believers at their stations for the battle (of Uhud). And Allah is All-Hearer, All-Knower. (Aali Imran 3:121)

- And then he put 50 archers on top a hill which he found strategic.

- He told them don’t leave the hill if you see us winning.

- And don’t leave the hill if you see us losing.

-Allah ( اللهُ سبحانه وتعالى) was impressed with the wisdom of the Holy Prophet () and hence He put it in the Holy Quran surah 3 verse 121.

- Muhammad () was a military genius.

- Because they did not obey the Prophet () they lost the battle.

-If you don't obey your military genius, you will lose.

-It cost them the battle because they did not obey.

-They dashed down from the hill, prematurely.

-They should have waited for an order from the Prophet () to leave the hill.

13. AFTER THEIR MISTAKE AT UHUD, HE WAS MERCIFUL TO HIS SAHABAS WHILE HE WAS CORRECTING THEM

Allah ( اللهُ سبحانه وتعالى) said in the Qur'an surah Al Imran verse 159

And by the Mercy of Allah, you dealt with them gently. And had you been severe and harshhearted, they would have broken away from about you; so pass over (their faults), and ask (Allah's) Forgiveness for them; and consult them in the affairs. Then when you have taken a decision, put your trust in Allah, certainly, Allah loves those who put their trust (in Him). (Aali Imran 3:159)

- He corrected the sahabas with soft words.

- Allah ( اللهُ سبحانه وتعالى) was impressed with how he dealt with them.

- Even though they disobeyed him and they lost the battle, still he corrected them with soft words.

- If Muhammad () was not wise, he would have lost his companions.

14. AT THE BATTLE OF THE DITCH HE ACCEPTED THE OPINION OF SALMAN AL FARISEE TO DIG A TRENCH AROUND MADINA

- Abu Sufyan gathered an army of 10,000 strong to attack Madina.

-The army of Muhammad () was only 3000.

-So Salman al Farisee suggested they dig a trench around Madina.

-The Prophet () took the advice and it proved to be a wise suggestion.

15. AT THE BATTLE OF THE DITCH, THE PROPHET () ALLOWED NAIM IBN MASOOD TO BE A CLOSET MUSLIM

- Naim ibn Masood (RA) was a pagan and secretly became a Muslim.

-He told the Prophet () he was a Muslim and ask what he could to do to help.

-The Prophet () sent him to the army of Quraish to spread fitna among the allied forces.

- An amir is allowed to tell a person to remain a closet Muslim to spread fitna among the kuffar.

Narrated Ka'b ibn Malik: When the Prophet () intended to go on an expedition, he always pretended to be going somewhere else, and he would say: "War is deception". [Abu Dawud 2629, Tirmidhi 1681, Ahmed 14312]

- Because war is deception like the Prophet () told you in the above hadith.

16. AT THIS BATTLE, THE PROPHET () TOLD THE PEOPLE BILAL BELONGS TO MY HOUSEHOLD

- Racism was rife in the Arabian Peninsula.

-So by telling the people that, it would help to eradicate racism asabiya from the hearts of the ummah.

Allah ( اللهُ سبحانه وتعالى) said in the Qur'an surah Al Hujurat verse 13

O mankind! We have created you from a male and a female, and made you into nations and tribes, that you may know one another. Verily, the most honourable of you with Allah is that (believer) who has At-Taqwa [i.e. one of the Muttaqun (pious - see V.2:2). Verily, Allah is All-Knowing, All-Aware. (Al-Hujurat 49:13)

Narrated Jubair ibn Mut’im: The Messenger of Allah (), said: "He is not one us who calls for `Asabiyah, (nationalism/tribalism) or who fights for `Asabiyah or who dies for `Asabiyah." [Sunan Abu Dawud (Vol. 2, pg. 753) No. 5121]

17. WHEN HE STOPPED UMAR (RA) FROM KILLING THE HYPOCRITES

-The angel Gabriel gave the Prophet () the name of the hypocrites.

Narrated Jabir: 'We were in the company of the Prophet in a Ghazwa. A large number of emigrants joined him and among the emigrants there was a person who used to play jokes (or play with spears); so he (jokingly) stroked an Ansari man on the hip. The Ansari got so angry that both of them called their people. The Ansari said, "Help, O Ansar!" And the emigrant said "Help, O emigrants!" The Prophet came out and said, "What is wrong with the people (as they are calling) this call of the period of Ignorance? "Then he said, "What is the matter with them?" So he was told about the stroke of the emigrant to the Ansari. The Prophet said, "Stop this (i.e. appeal for help) for it is an evil call." Abdullah bin Ubai bin Salul (a hypocrite) said, "The emigrants have called and (gathered against us); so when we return to Medina, surely, the more honorable people will expel there from the meaner," Upon that `Umar said, "O Allah's Prophet! Shall we not kill this evil person (i.e. `Abdullah bin Ubai bin Salul)?" The Prophet) said, "(No), lest the people should say that Muhammad used to kill his companions."' [Al-Bukhari (4/183) and Muslim (2584)]

-The Prophet () was not hot headed.

-A leader has to be level headed.

-Umar (RA) wanted to chop off the heads of the hypocrites.

-Because the Prophet () was wise, Allah ( اللهُ سبحانه وتعالى) revealed 49:7

And know that, among you there is the Messenger of Allah (). If he were to obey you (i.e. follow your opinions and desires) in much of the matter, you would surely be in trouble, but Allah has endeared the Faith to you and has beautified it in your hearts, and has made disbelief, wickedness and disobedience (to Allah and His Messenger ) hateful to you. These! They are the rightly guided ones, (Al-Hujurat 49:7)

- So Allah ( اللهُ سبحانه وتعالى) revealed surah 49:7 to prove the Prophet () was not hot headed.

- By the Prophet () not acting on the suggestion of Umar (RA), it proves he was very wise.

- He said it would backfire, because the people would have said, Muhammad () is killing his own companions.

- Abdullah ibn Ubayy was a hypocrite, he even gave khutbah and prayed in the masjid.

- Before you do a thing, think about the ramifications.

- If the Prophet () had acted on what Umar (RA) was saying, it would have backfired and destroyed the dawah.

- What I am teaching you tonight; don't go looking for it on the internet.

- It's not on the internet - this is from my notes from the university.

- Way back in 1990.

JULY 16 2014 - 18 RAMADAN 1435 HIJRI

DARS TWO

- We are explaining the wisdom of the prophet ().
- The prophet Muhammad (
) was very wise.
- His mission was successful because of this.
- He was inspired.

- We stopped on the following hadith:

Narated By Jabir bin Abdullah: 'Umar bin Al-Khattab said, "O Allah's Apostle! Let me chop off the head of this hypocrite!" The Prophet said, "Leave him, lest the people say Muhammad kills his companions."[Bukhari Volume 6, Book 060, Hadith Number 430.]

17 HIS MARRIAGE TO AISHA

- Aisha (RAA) was given to the prophet by Allah ( اللهُ سبحانه وتعالى) in a dream.

Narrated 'Aisha: Allah's Apostle said (to me), "You have been shown to me twice in (my) dreams. A man was carrying you in a silken cloth and said to me, 'This is your wife.' I uncovered it; and behold, it was you. I said to Myself' If this dream is from Allah, He will cause it to come true.' {"Sahih Al Bukhari: Volume 7, Book 62, Number 15}

-This marriage to Aisha (RAA) helped Islam a lot.

-She was young.

-She served Islam for many years.
-She became a great scholar of Islam.
-She taught a lot of people.
-She was one of the greatest narrators of hadith.
-This marriage to a young girl was from the hikmah (Wisdom) of the Prophet (
).

-The first to embrace Islam was a woman (Khadijah Bint Khuwaylid  (RAA).
-The first Muslim to die for Islam was a woman (Sumayyah Bint Khayyat (RAA)).
-The first greatest scholar of Islam was a woman (A'isha Bint Abu Bakr (RAA)).

Please don't raise your head and make it visible, lest an arrow of the enemy should hit you. Let my neck and chest be wounded instead of yours." (On that day) I saw `Aisha, the daughter of Abu Bakr and Um Sulaim both lifting their dresses up so that I was able to see the ornaments of their legs, and they were carrying the water skins of their arms to pour the water into the mouths of the thirsty people and then go back and fill them and come to pour the water into the mouths of the people again. (On that day) Abu Talha's sword fell from his hand twice or thrice. [Sahih Bukhari vol: 5 Book 63 Chapter 18 Hadith: 3811]

- When you have a wife who is young, beautiful, pious.

- The wife is a barakah from Allah ( اللهُ سبحانه وتعالى).
- Aisha (RAA) was at the battlefield pouring water in the mouths of the mujahideen.
-The marriage of the Prophet to Aisha (RAA) served Islam a great deal.

19) THE WAY HE DEALT WITH THE SLANDER OF AISHA

- The Prophet () wasn't quick to accuse his wife of zina.
- He didn't take sides with the hypocrites of Madina to accuse his wife of zina.

- Many people quickly believe someone who is evil and malicious if he accuses his wife of zina.

- The Prophet () wasn't quick to believe what the hypocrites were saying.

-You would never give your wife the benefit of the doubt.

Allah ( اللهُ سبحانه وتعالى) said in the Quran Surah An Nur verse 11

Verily! Those who brought forth the slander (against 'A'ishah the wife of the Prophet ) are a group among you. Consider it not a bad thing for you. Nay, it is good for you. Unto every man among them will be paid that which he had earned of the sin, and as for him among them who had the greater share therein, his will be a great torment. (An-Nur 24:11)

-The Prophet () waited patiently until Allah ( اللهُ سبحانه وتعالى) cleared her name in the above mentioned ayah.

20 - WHEN THE PROPHET SAID THE CALIPHATE IS FROM QURAISH

-Why did the Prophet () say the Khilaafa is from Quraish.

This matter (rule) will remain with the Quraish, and none will rebel against them, but Allah will throw him down on his face, as long as the Quraish uphold the Deen. [Sahih Bukhari, Volume 9, Book 89, Number #253]

-The Prophet () was taking into consideration the mentality of the Muslims.

-He knew his ummah would never abandon tribalism.

Abu Malik al-Ashari narrated the Prophet () said: ”There are four matters of jaahiliyyah that exist among my ummah and they will not give them up: boasting about one’s forefathers, casting aspersions upon people’s lineages, seeking rain by the stars and wailing for the dead.” [Sahih Muslim (Vol. 2 pg. 644) No. 934]

- So he has to say the khilaafah is from Quraish.
- He said the khilaafah is from Quraish to unite the ummah.
- The Arabs would never accept the khilaafah from an inferior tribe to Quraish.

- Quraish is the noblest tribe.

- This proves the wisdom of the Prophet ().

21 HE MADE THE STALWARTS OF ISLAM HIS IN-LAWS

Anas ibn Maalik (RA) reported that Allah’s Messenger () said, “The most merciful person of my ummah to my ummah is Abu Bakr and the most strict of them about Allah’s commands is Umar, and the most sincerely modest of them is Uthman, and the most read of them of the Book of Allah is Ubayy ibn Ka’b, and the most knowledge of laws of inheritance is Zayd ibn Thabit, and the most learned of them about the lawful and the unlawful is Mu’adh ibn Jabal. Surely, there is for every ummah a trustworthy member and the trustworthy member of this ummah is Abu Ubaydah ibn Jarrah.” [Tirmidhi 3816, Ahmed 12903, Ibn e Majah 154]

- Therefore Abu Bakr (RA) was his father in law.
- Umar (RA) was his father-in-law.
- Uthman (RA) was his son-in-law twice.

- Because of that, he was given the title Dhoo Nurain.

'Abdullah ibn 'Umar ibn Aban al-Ju'fi said: My paternal uncle Husayn al-Ju'fi said to me: "O my son, do you know why 'Uthman was called Dhu al-Noorayn (the one with the two lights)?" I said: "I do not know." He said: "No one else was ever married to two daughters of a Prophet, from the time Allah created Adam until the Hour will begin, except 'Uthman. Hence he was called Dhu al-Noorayn." [Al-Sunan al-Kubra al-Bayhaqi (7/115-116) No. 13427]

- He also made Ali (RA) his son-in-law.

- Muawiyyah (RA) was his brother-in-law.

Narrated By Ibn Abi Mulaika: Somebody said to Ibn 'Abbas, "Can you speak to the chief of the believers Muwaiya, as he does not pray except one Rak'a as Witr?" Ibn 'Abbas replied, "He is a Faqih (i.e. a learned man who can give religious verdicts)." [Sahih Bukhari, Vol 5, Book 57, Hadith #109]

-These 5 stalwarts of Islam were all in-laws of the Prophet ().

Sayyida Umm Kulthoom stayed with 'Uthman until her death in Sha'ban 9 Hijri. He was deeply grieved by her loss and the Prophet saw him walking broken-hearted with signs of grief on his face. He (Nabi) came to him and said, "If we had a third one, we would give her in marriage to you, O 'Uthman!" Majma' al- Zawaa'd with a fair chain because of corroborating reports.

-They were either father in laws, son in laws or brother in laws of the Prophet ().

22 - HIS MARRIAGE TO JUWAIRIYYA

-This girl was the daughter of the chief of Banu Mustaliq.
- Banu Mustaliq was a pagan tribe.

- They were allies of Quraish.

('Aisha) said: The people then heard that the Apostle of Allah () had married Juwayriyyah. They released the captives in their possession and set them free, and said: They are the relatives of the Apostle of Allah () by marriage. We did not see any woman greater than Juwayriyyah who brought blessings to her people. One hundred families of Banu al-Mustaliq were set free on account of her. [Sunan Abu Dawud (4/22) No. 3931, Musnad Ahmad (6/277) No. 26408, Mustadrak al-Haakim (4/28) No. 6781 and Sahih Ibn Hibban (9/361) No. 4054]

-When the Prophet () married Juwairiyya, her entire tribe became Muslim.
-The Prophet (
) gave her tribe honour by marrying her.

-By marrying Juwairiyyah, he brought the entire tribe to Islam.

-This proves the hikma of the Rasul ().

23 - HIS MARRIAGE TO UMM SALAMA

-Umm Salama (RAA) was a widow after the battle of Uhud and she needed protection.
-She had kids who needed a father figure.
-This marriage to Umm Salama (RAA) proves that it is a noble act to marry the widows of mujahideen.
-So a brother will not worry about what will happen to his wife.
- If he should die on the battlefield.

Then the Prophet () proposed. She told him that she had three reservations regarding his proposal. She was hot-headed and had a temper; she felt she might be rude to the Prophet of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and thus lose the reward for all her good deeds.

Secondly, she was an elderly lady; thirdly, she had, many children. The Prophet () answered that he would pray to Allah, and Allah willing, her temper would subside. As far as age was concerned, he was also an elderly man.

Thirdly, as far as her children were concerned - that was the precise reason for proposing to her - he wished to be their guardian and share the responsibility. She writes that this answer gave her great happiness and thus she attained the honor of becoming part of the Prophet's household. Thus Allah granted both hers and Abu Salamah's prayer, and she married the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in the month of Shawwal, in the 4th, year after Hijrah.

-This proves that it wasn't the modus operandi of the Prophet () to marry young girls.

-The Prophet () married Sawda (RAA) who was 50 years old so she could be a mother figure for his kids.

- He only married one virgin.

- By marrying Umm Salama (RAA), he's encouraging people to marry widows of mujahideen.
- This marriage proves that Muhammad (
) was wise.

24 - THE TREATY OF HUDAIBIYYAH

-This proves the wisdom of Muhammad ().
-At Hudaibiyyah, the Prophet (
) signed with Quraish a treaty for no war for 10 years.

Allah ( اللهُ سبحانه وتعالى) said in the Qur'an Surah Al Fath verse 1

Verily, We have given you (O Muhammad ) a manifest victory. (Al-Fath 48:1)

-When he signed this treaty, Allah ( اللهُ سبحانه وتعالى) revealed Surah Fath verse 1.
-Why did Allah (
اللهُ سبحانه وتعالى) say the treaty itself is a victory?

-That's the million dollar question.
- Allah (
اللهُ سبحانه وتعالى) said the treaty is a victory because it is insanity to open too many warfronts.
- When you do this you destroy your army and your economy.

- Don't open too many warfronts.
- This was the mistake of Napoleon, Adolf Hitler and George Bush.

- George Bush destroyed the American economy by opening up too many warfronts.

- Those 5000 American soldiers who died in Iraq were born in vain, they lived in vain and they died in vain.

- They died to bring democracy to Iraq and now that democracy is being eroded by IS.

- Now they are crying about their soldiers dying in vain.

- Their situation is pitiful, appalling and pathetic.
- People like Napoleon and Hitler should have studied seerah.
- If only they studied the life of the Prophet, these world leaders would have had wisdom.

- Allah ( اللهُ سبحانه وتعالى) said the sunnah of Muhammad () is hikma.

- When you open up too many warfronts you destroy the economy.
- At the treaty of hudaibiyyah, the infidels said anyone whoever leaves daarul harb to go and live in daarul Islam, the Muslims should send them back.

- And anyone who leaves daarul Islam (Madina) to go and live in daarul Harb (Makkah), the infidels should be allowed to keep them.

- This part of the treaty made Umar ibn al Khattab (RA) very angry, he was fuming.

- This part touched a nerve with Umar (RA).

- However this part of the treaty backfired in the faces of the infidels.

- Because Abu Baseer left Makkah for Madina and was sent back.

- He lived between Makkah and Madina and robbed the caravans of Quraish.

We have also been told that Abu Basir bin Asid Ath-Thaqafi came to the Prophet as a Muslim emigrant during the truce. Al-Akhnas bin Shariq wrote to the Prophet requesting him to return Abu Basir.  [Sahih Bukhari, Vol 3, Book 50, Hadith #891]

so he set off till he reached the seashore. Abu Jandal bin Suhail got himself released from them (i.e. infidels) and joined Abu Basir. So, whenever a man from Quash embraced Islam he would follow Abu Basir till they formed a strong group. By Allah, whenever they heard about a caravan of Quash heading towards Sham, they stopped it and attacked and killed them (i.e. infidels) and took their properties. [Sahih Bukhari, Vol 3, Book 50, Hadith #891]

- The Prophet () didn't stop Abu Baseer, he turned a blind eye.

- When you study Islamic history and seerah, many shaikhs don't tell you about Abu Baseer; they shove it under the carpet.

- The kuffar begged the Prophet () to change the treaty and allow the Muslims who leave Makkah to live in Madina to stay in Madina.

- The infidels put this clause thinking they were gaining the upper hand but it backfired.
-  They didn't see Abu Baseer coming.

- The Prophet () accepted that clause in the treaty because the Prophet was wise.
- He could see the impact before it happened.

- When you plot harm for the Muslims, you are only digging a hole for yourself.
- When America invaded Iraq, their intention was to steal oil.

- But look at what happened.

- By getting rid of the Bathists, they handed victory to the mujahideen on a silver platter.
-  It made it easy for the caliphate to come back.

Allah ( اللهُ سبحانه وتعالى) said in the Qur'an surah Al Imran verse 54

And they (disbelievers) plotted [to kill 'Iesa (Jesus)], and Allah planned too. And Allah is the Best of the planners. (Aali Imran 3:54)

- The treaty of Hudaibiyyah proves that the Prophet () was wise.

- The Prophet () told his companions if someone should live in the Islamic state of Medina and then he leaves to live in daarul harb (Makkah), happy riddance.

- Because only a munafiq would abandon the Islamic State to live amongst the kuffar.

25 - HE DREW LOTS BEFORE HE TOOK ONE OF HIS WIVES ON A JOURNEY

-  No one could accuse him of favouritism.

Narrated By 'Aisha: Whenever the Prophet intended to proceed on a journey, he used to draw lots amongst his wives and would take the one upon whom the lot fell. Once, before setting out for Jihad, he drew lots amongst us and the lot came to me; so I went with the Prophet; and that happened after the revelation of the Verse Hijab (i.e. veiling). [Sahih Bukhari, Vol 4, Book 52, Hadith #130]

26 - HIS MARRIAGE TO SAFIYA

- THE JEWESS

- Safiya (RAA) was a Jewess and the Prophet () married her.

- She became a stalwart of Islam.

- This marriage to Safiya (RAA) has caused many Jews all over the world to embrace Islam because she was happy in her marriage.

- Even till today, many Jews embrace Islam when they hear about this marriage.

Ibn Umar narrates: In the eye of Sayyidah Safiya was a scar. Holy Prophet () said to her, ‘What is this scar in your eye?’ She said, ‘I mentioned before my husband that I saw a moon falling into my lap in a dream so he slapped me and said; ‘Do you long for the King of Yathrib [i.e. Holy Prophet ]’ She said: ‘There was none more hateful to me then Allah’s Messenger () as he killed my father and husband. [But] the Prophet (pbuh) explained, ‘O Safiya your father instigated the Arabs against me and did so and so…’ He kept on explaining until that feeling (of hatred) vanished from me.’ (Tabarani Kabeer, Hadith 19668. Albani classified it as Sahih in his Silsala Sahiha H. 2793)

- How can you beat a person for having a dream?

 - How can you be so evil?

- When Safiya got married to the Prophet, () she didn't suffer any more domestic violence.

- She was happy in her marriage.

- The other wives of the Prophet () used to tease Safiya calling her a Jew.

- She came to the Prophet () and cried.

- The Prophet () said when they call you a Jew, tell them you are married to a Prophet and your lineage goes back to a Prophet, Harun.

-This marriage of the Prophet () proves his wisdom.

Narrated Anas: said: "It reached Safiyyah that Hafsah said: 'The daughter of a Jew' so she wept. Then the Prophet () entered upon her while she was crying, so he said: 'What makes you cry?' She said: 'Hafsah said to me that I am the daughter of a Jew.' So the Prophet () said: 'And you are the daughter of a Prophet, and your uncle is a Prophet, and you are married to a Prophet, so what is she boasting to you about?' Then he said: 'Fear Allah, O Hafsah.

{Jami At Tirmidhi: ' Vol. 1, Book 46, Hadith 3894 & Arabic reference: Book 49, Hadith 4268}

27 - HIS MARRIAGE TO HAFSA

- This marriage to Hafsa (RAA) cemented the bond the between the Prophet () and Umar ibn al Khattab (RA).

- Umar (RA) was a stalwart of Islam.

Uqbah ibn Aamir (RA) reported that Allah’s Messenger () said, “If there were to be a Prophet after me then he would be Umar ibn Al-Khattab.” [Musnad Ahmad (4/154) No. 17441, Sunan Tirmidhi (5/619) No. 3686, Mustadrak al-Haakim (3/92) No. 4495]

28 - THE LOVE THE PROPHET SHOWED TO BILAL AND SALMAN AL FARSI

- One was black and the other was Persian.

- They were ethnic minorities.

- By showing love to them, he has captured the love of black people and Persians alike.

- When the Prophet () accepted Mariya the Coptic as his right hand possessed, he has endeaured the Egyptians.

- He didn't marry her.

- She remained his right hand possessed.

- He kept her as his right hand possessed for you to know that you don't have to marry your right hand possessed.

Allah ( اللهُ سبحانه وتعالى) said in the Qur'an surah Al Mu'minium verse 5 - 7

And those who guard their chastity (i.e. private parts, from illegal sexual acts) Except from their wives or (the captives and slaves) that their right hands possess, for then, they are free from blame; But whoever seeks beyond that, then those are the transgressors; (Al-Mu'minun 23:5-7)

29 - THE DUA THE PROPHET MADE FOR UMM HARAM TO JOIN THE MUSLIM NAVY

It was narrated from Anas ibn Malik (RA) that the Messenger of Allah () used to enter upon Umm Haram bint Milhan and she would give him food. Umm Haram was married to 'Ubaidah ibn al-Samit. One day the Messenger of Allah () entered upon her, and she provided him with food and started grooming his head. The Messenger of Allah () slept, then he woke up smiling. Umm Haram asked, "What is making you smile, O Messenger of Allah?" He said: "Some people of my Ummah were shown to me (in my dream) campaigning for the sake of Allah, sailing in the middle of the sea like kings on thrones." Umm Haram added, "I said, 'O Messenger of Allah! Pray to Allah to make me one of them.'"

So the Messenger of Allah () prayed to Allah for her and then laid his head down (and slept). Then he woke up smiling (again). (Umm Haram added): I said, "What is making you smile, O Messenger of Allah?" He said, "Some people of my Ummah were shown to me (in my dream) campaigning for the sake of Allah." He said the same as he had said before. I said, "O Messenger of Allah! Pray to Allah to make me one of them." He said: "You will be among the first ones." Then Umm Haram sailed across the sea during the time of Mu'awiyah ibn Abi Sufyan, and she fell down from her riding animal after coming ashore, and died. [al-Bukhari (2877) and Muslim (1912)]

- The reason why the Prophet () made the dua is because he knows there are Muslim women who would like to join the jihad process.

- You can't deny them to go.

- She can go with the permission of the ameer.

- If it was haraam, why would the Prophet () make that dua for her.

- Some women want action.

- They are not domesticated; they want to go for jihad.
- Jihad is not fard on a woman.

- It's only fard on men.

- But if a woman wants to go for jihad and the ameer allows her, she didn't do anything wrong.

Narrated `Aisha: (the mother of the faithful believers) I said, "O Messenger of Allah ! We consider Jihad as the best deed." The Prophet said, "The best Jihad (for women) is Hajj Mabrur." [Sahih Bukhari (2/133) No. 1520]

- The hadith means the only jihad that is fard on a woman is hajj.

- The other jihad which is the physical fighting is not fard on a woman, it is only halal.
- There is a difference between halal and fard.
- It's easy for a woman to go for jihad these days because she can be used to make IEDs and transport them.

30 - HIS ADVICE TO MUADH IBN JABAL

-This proves the Prophet () was wise.

-When the Prophet () sent Muadh ibn Jabal (RAA) to Yemen, the Prophet () said to him the first thing he should invite the people to is the Tawheed of Allah ( اللهُ سبحانه وتعالى).

Narrated By Ibn Abbas: When the Prophet   sent Muadh to Yemen, he said to him, "You are going to a nation from the people of the Scripture, so let the first thing to which you will invite them, be the Tauhid of Allah. If they learn that, tell them that Allah has enjoined on them, five prayers to be offered in one day and one night. And if they pray, tell them that Allah has enjoined on them Zakat of their properties and it is to be taken from the rich among them and given to the poor. And if they agree to that, then take from them Zakat but avoid the best property of the people." [Sahih Bukhari, Vol 9, Book 93, Hadith #469]

-The Prophet () didn't tell him to tell the people to stop fornicating or to stop drinking alcohol, etc.

Narrated Yusuf bin Mahk: While I was with Aisha, the mother of the Believers, a person from Iraq came and asked, "What type of shroud is the best?" 'Aisha said, "May Allah be merciful to you! What does it matter?" He said, "O mother of the Believers! Show me (the copy of) your Qur'an," She said, "Why?" He said, "In order to compile and arrange the Qur'an according to it, for people recite it with its Suras not in proper order." 'Aisha said, "What does it matter which part of it you read first? (Be informed) that the first thing that was revealed thereof was a Sura from Al-Mufassal, and in it was mentioned Paradise and the Fire. When the people embraced Islam, the Verses regarding legal and illegal things were revealed. If the first thing to be revealed was: 'Do not drink alcoholic drinks.' people would have said, 'We will never leave alcoholic drinks,' and if there had been revealed, 'Do not commit illegal sexual intercourse, 'they would have said, 'We will never give up illegal sexual intercourse.' While I was a young girl of playing age, the following Verse was revealed in Mecca to Muhammad: 'Nay! But the Hour is their appointed time (for their full recompense), and the Hour will be more grievous and more bitter.' (54.46) Sura Al-Baqara (The Cow) and Surat An-Nisa (The Women) were revealed while I was with him." Then 'Aisha took out the copy of the Qur'an for the man and dictated to him the Verses of the Suras (in their proper order) .[Sahih Bukhari, Vol 6, Book 61, Hadith #515]

- This Hadith of the Prophet () proves it is wisdom to invite the people of daarul kufr to Tawheed and invite the people of daarul Islam to shariah.

- How can you tell the people of Europe to obey Allah ( اللهُ سبحانه وتعالى) when they are atheists and they don't believe Allah ( اللهُ سبحانه وتعالى) exists, especially the French.

- If this is not your manhaj, you are putting the cart before the horse.
- Al muhajiroon are my brothers, I love them. They practise al wala wal bara.

- They practise kufr bit taghoot.

- They are not hypocrites.

- They believe in Tawheed hakimiyyah.

-They pay attention to fiqhul waqi.

- My only concern about them is that they invite to shariah in daarul harb.

- Al Muhajiroon love Muslims.
- Saudi Salafis don't love Muslims.

- Al Muhajiroon only have one fault, inviting to shariah in daarul harb.

- There manhaj should be inviting to Tawheed in daarul harb.
- If only they did that, al muhajiroon would be the jama'ah with no flaws and no mistakes in their manhaj.

- Because the Prophet () was wise, he told Muadh ibn Jabal (RA) the first thing he should call the people to when he goes to Yemen is the Tawheed of Allah ( اللهُ سبحانه وتعالى).

31:  THE BEDOUIN URINATING IN THE MASJID OF THE RASOOL

- When the Bedouin was urinating in the masjid of the Rasool () the people rushed to beat him and the Holy Prophet () said “leave him."

- This is because if they attack him the urine would spread all over the Masjid and soil a bigger portion of the Masjid.

- But if they allow him to finish the najaasa would be contained in one section of the Masjid.

- Secondly: If they stop him in the middle of urinating it would affect his bladder and urinary tract.

- Thirdly: By allowing him to finish, the Rasool () was able to teach the Ummah how to eradicate najaasa.

- Fourthly: The Rasool () showed mercy to his Bedouin companion who was uncouth so that he doesn’t apostate from Islam.

Allah ( اللهُ سبحانه وتعالى) said about harshness in the Holy Qur'an:

Allah ( اللهُ سبحانه وتعالى) said in the Qur'an surah Al Imran verse 159

And by the Mercy of Allah, you dealt with them gently. And had you been severe and harshhearted, they would have broken away from about you; so pass over (their faults), and ask (Allah's) Forgiveness for them; and consult them in the affairs. Then when you have taken a decision, put your trust in Allah, certainly, Allah loves those who put their trust (in Him). (Aali Imran 3:159)

Narrated Anas bin Malik: A bedouin urinated in the mosque and the people ran to (beat) him, but the Messenger of Allah () said: Leave him alone; don't interrupt him. He (the narrator) said: And when he had finished, he called for a bucket of water and poured it over. [Al-Bukhari (6025) and Muslim (284)]

Abu Huraira (RA) narrated that a villager came to the mosque; the Allah's Messenger () was also sitting there. He offered Salah and prayed: "O Allah have mercy on me and on Muhammad and do not have mercy on anyone else besides us." The Prophet () turned towards him and said, "You have limited the application of a very large thing (Mercy).” There had not passed enough time when this man passed urine in the mosque. The people towards him, but the Prophet () said. "Pour a bucket of water over it.” He also said, "Indeed, you are sent only as those who make things easy and not as those who create difficulties." [Sunan Tirmidhi (1/275) No. 147]
